I think that great speeches like this one (and I have a dream and Mindless Menace Of Violence and so on and so), aren't based on specific programs that anyone wants to introduce, but by a general non-descript guideline that all people can at least understand if not agree with.
There may also be some significance to certain speeches because of their rhythm and timing, a tactic that many leaders today just don't have anymore.
Kennedy was close, but still wrong. He should have said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, and ask not what you can do for your country. We must ask instead, what CANNOT be done when you and your country work TOGETHER!" This is the hope of Party Recon. For more information, visit partyrecon . org
People look to Reagan for advice? Kennedy faced the Mid Cold War Era, Cuban Missile Crisis, African American Rights Movement, inspiring men to go to the moon.
@WitnessNFLInside well not exactly for the africans. part of it was from dwight and lyndon. because dwight helped the little rock crisis. and lyndon signed the civil rights movement. so he did 1/3 of that
Whats crazy is early in his career JFK was a poor public speaker. He trained himself everyday, practising vocal excercises and eventually became an incredible speaker through hardwork.
In solidarity with the American people -- & all people -- I call on the current president, his surviving predecessors, Congress, and all U.S. & intl. media; on all who spoke/wrote yesterday to honor President Kennedy on the 50th anniversary of his inauguration: to speak/write now to honor & examine, for the benefit of the American people -- & all people -- his Executive Order 11110 & its fate. President Kennedy stood up for all of you. Now who of you will stand up for President Kennedy? Who?????
50 years ago today, I sat in front of my TV, courtesy of a snow storm that closed Lincoln HS in Brooklyn, and watched this. What a thrilling experience for a young American.
3:38 Yeah, this country has gotten most of us into unemployment benefits that are about to expire without any extention at all. The country has DONE NOTHING then and has DONE NOTHING now and is drowning in DEBT. That is the REALITY.
@vergalechera Blame that Muslim spy in our White House like most blacks they win the lotto get 40 million and a year later are broke. They spend money like it grows on trees.Democrats spend money they don't have and are going to make the entire country broke. All except the ones running the country. This is how communism started.
@MissMelanie2006 communism is a good system if people knew how to run it... its an economic system as well for all of you that think a person is a communist.
JFK was a great US president. Never again shall we witness such elegance and eloquence in the leader of the free world. If this man's speech doesn't move the depths of your soul then you're not human. He was an amazing leader.
I like this speech i am black and it falls right with us because us blacks r always leeching off the government , we blacks need to start contributing to society and stop leeching from the us government ( ask not what your country can do for you but what we can do for our country) blacks start contributing and stop leeching off american government
One of the last true Democrat not like the socialist demcrat rats we have today. JFK may have been a Democrat in this time but todays standards he would be considered a conservative.
'Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.'
- John F. Kennedy (By the way, this is an exact quote from a speech given by Army Gen'l. Omar Bradley in 1953, just a few years prior to JFK using it in his inaugural speech. JFK or his speech writers recognized a great quote, but none credited Bradley for one of the greatest patriotic quotes of all time - plagiarism, anyone?)
one of the handsome, young, intelligent, and talented presidents of the US
