I lived in England (Chesterfield) for 18 years and never felt a tremor. One week after arriving in Perth, Australia (you know, the big island smack in the middle of a tectonic plate - the most geologically stable place on Earth) in 1968, there was an earthquake - first in recorded history - which demolished a small town about 50 miles from here. As it was a public holiday, no-one was injured or killed. I was Chicken Man and ran screaming into the garden. I only felt one other tremor since.

Oh btw, we had a 4.something on the thingamy scale when i was living in Cornwall and I thought the chippy next door had blown up coz quite frankly it seemed more likely than an earthquake in England!
The earthquake didn't wake me up.. In the morning my Mum was like did you feel the earthquake last night? I thought she was joking :-) I'm a heavey sleeper.
And I am an amiteur (sp?) expert on quakes. 4.7 scared the hell outta me in 1989 here in my home town. All my friends in the barracks turned to me for what they should do, since I was the only native of this town in our military unit. But, though I have experience at least 20 quakes throughout my life, when they turned to me, all they got was a panic riden average joe running for the door. 4.7 is terrifying.
Forget earthquakes. In 2005 I got hit by 3 hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma, all in the same year, all of which were at one point category 5 storms. Katrina and Rita hit as Category 1 storms and Wilma as a Category 3.

Forget earthquakes. In 2005 I got hit by 3 hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma, all in the same year, all of which were at one point category 5 storms. Katrina and Rita hit as Category 1 storms and Wilma as a Category 3.
