  • what truck or van did you pull that 460 from...

  • good job not bad

  • good job not bad

  • Well 3 points races into the points season we are in 1st place in points in ET Street.

With a best run this year 12.087 at 111mph and best dial was a 12.137 on a 12.13 dial with a .012 light and I did a quick burp of the gas.

So 3 points races in made it to the finals 2 times and won one.

2 King of the hill races won one and made it to the semi's (spun)

We also went to Pinks All Out a few weeks ago(thanks to my brother)

  • Well we went to the track last weekend and Won King of the Hill Friday night with a 12.253 on a 12.25 dial with a .020 light, then on Sunday we won in the ET Street class. what a weekend. and to boot I did CPR on a guy Tuesday that crashed his truck on my steeet and he came back to life....

  • wow that thing just pulls, awesome stang. I just got myself a 1986 mustang with a 1994 302 hopefully I can mod it some to be a contender. About how much hp you think your putting down?

  • Well I've been laid off for over 7 months now so racing will be tuff, anyone want to sponsor a racer :) The car is all painted up now and looking good. if I can get a better start this year then the last 2 years maybe I can move up a few spots in the points :-)

And thanks everone for the good words.

  • Really nice. Keep us posted on how it's doing this year.

  • I will I hope to do better then last year :) won 2 times and got 4th in points. the year before I got 3rd in street and 21 in Mod classes and rookie of the year in Mod.

Runner up in Fun Ford Weekend Street class and Tasca Day winner in Outlaw Mustang class ( they all broke) :-) we just have a lot of fun at the track

  • lol put some spray to it

  • If I put spray to it the motor would go boom LOL the other car were building could take a lot of spray :)

  • I likes.

  • is your engine stock? cause i just bought a 460 out of an 85 E350. And im going to put it in my 82 mercury capri. what tranny did you use adn what gears?

  • it's a stock except for the cam and intake & carb just some tuning. this motor is old and worn out. As long as the motor is a carb motor you will be all set, the EFI heads won't work for a carb setup. It's just has a C6 with a 3500 stall and 3.55 gears 26inch tall tire

  • what about the headers??? how do the fit??? any mods?? I bought an 87 mustang also.......and intention is to put my 460 in it?? what are the modd i need to make??

  • They do sell headers to put a 460 into a Mustang. I made my own motor mounts so I pull the motor back as far as I could. the problem with doing this is you will need to remove the power brakes

  • the motor was in a 1978 F250 I was told so it's a low compression A2A headed (stock headed) motor, I only rev it to 5200 since the valve springs are shot and won't rev OH didn't I tell everyone that :) with new springs I think I could take off a tenth or more. I also shift at 5000 and the tranny hits hard each shift

  • a little history on the motor 2 years ago a valve head broke off and damaged 3 pistons.. there still in the motor last year mid season it started to leak oil dropped the pan all bearings were down to bronze crank is hurt. so I just slid in new bearings and new rear main seal, and then ran the hell out of it. last season cyl 3 started to smoke sometimes I think a ring failing, ran it all year and got into the 11's like this

  • sorry to the person that I deleted your post I was going to comment

  • @daninline I have a 460 going into a 69 mustang. Basically a junkyard low compression ratio motor. with dove heads and a comp xe 274 cam. Similar to your performer rpm. I was hoping to get it into the 12s, but I see that u r running 11s with stock heads! I really like hearing about these budget builds. A lot of people say that the 8:1 460s wont run, even with a larger cam. The most expensive thing is buying the headers and mounts. Let me know what u think of my build. Please share tips or info.

  • Well your motor should breath better then mine with the DOVE heads. The car with me in it is 3200Lbs. there is really nothing big done to the car. old 460 with Performer RPM Cam and intake both very old too, 3500 stall but I only foot brake it to 1500, C6 tranny 3.55 gears BG 850 Carb maybe a 750 would work better right out of the box. I run rich off the line and a bit lean on the top end.

  • THAT'S THE WAY TO DO IT! tired of damn sbf, too much money to make it work. Shove a bbf in the engine bay and maker work. I'm so power starved i'm thinkin of takin my mom's old 4 cyl 92 and big blockin it. Change the rear, don't know what to do bout the springs up front.

  • Only stock v8 springs up front with 90/10 struts. with a motor rebuild I think the car would be in the mid 11's easy

    Good luck

  • Hey just go to a junk yard or call them and ask big stuff they might make you pull it

  • I see a lot of 460 Ford stuff on CraigsList for cheap money. I made my motor mounts out of some roll cage tubing.

you can get a swap kit that will have headers and motor mounts.

But I wanted it lower and back more.

ask some questions and have fun

  • @daninline My motor mounts are custom aswell, I ran a best of 12.8 thru exhaust manifolds and no convertor. I was like the fastest guy with the slowest 60ft times. 1.9 ta 2.2. spining things horribly on street tires. I am currently building my own set of headers w/pics. that should take alittle edge off the lowend and help the tire spin. Your overall combination is like a mirror to mine. 78 motor totaly stock, except the cam intake and carb.

  • hey how junkyards is it cause i wanna put a 460 in a mustang im gettin got any tips for me

  • this weeked I got into the 11's with a 11.992 , 11.993 and 11.995. We also won Sat for the 2nd time this year.

Also the car is now painted a nice dark blue

  • Rolled by.. cool vid!

    Les

  • Very Very Impressive, gotta love that Big Block Torque! For a stock 460 with the shitty heads, stock compression and everything else bone stock I think 12.2's GREAT. Imagine if you ran some Super Cobra Jet heads and a 600 lift cam, high 10's lol. New England Dragway? That's also my home track, I race my fox up there. Check out my vids!

  • Do you know what year block and type of heads that it has? I have a 460 that's going into a 69' Mustang.

  • it's around a 1975 and I don't have the head numbers but they are the worst stock heads you can get.

At lease replace the stock timing chain with a pre 1973 i think the newer ones retard the Cam something like 3 deg

  • still 12.2 with SMOG heads! put a set of pre '73 heads like DOVE-C and probally break into the 11's! your heads are probably the 95cc, the D9VE, dove,d1ve, heads are 72cc, so you'd bump compression too!

  • The motor is a un-rebuilt 460 with a Performer RPM cam and intake with a good C6 tranny and 3000 stall.

    I'm taking off only at 1500 RPM's with a 1.656 60 foot

If I put in new valve springs I think I would pick up at lease a few tenths and porting the heads would even make it better. it's rally a bunch of junk tossed together :)

  • would like to know more,

Nice run and big block is a great combo in a fox.

  • there was almost no one at the track that day, you could of made 30 passes if you wanted and still got to get home before supper
