this is ironic how little love bodie shows for D when bodie ends up just like D but a little stronger. They both end up dead, they both smart and they both know how much shit is in the game. Bodie learned so much from D and he was one of the best soldiers a kingpin could try to recrruit
Bodie was loyal. Bodie was TOO loyal. I honestly think that Poot had more of the correct mindset. Poot was more detached; it always seemed like just business to him. Bodie took it all too seriously. That normally works in the everyday working world. But not in this.
I get the strong impression that the florist is an ex-gangbanger himself...one who managed to make his way out of it somehow. He still has a cautious sympathy towards people like Bodie, though, and his business acumen caters to that.
am i the only person who finds this scene completely hilarious? I need to find this florist b/c want my AK-47 floral arrangement in white carnations at my funeral.
Damn D name got dragged through the mud like he wasn't shit and he didn't even killed his self. It goes to show that we as people believe anything a person say to us. " the bigger the lie the more they believe". Even though I think D should have been killed.
bodie was good up until the part he squealed, saying he not giving up none of avon crew a rat is a rat plan and simple theres no rocket science to it no matter who you rat on your crew, an rival crew, police when you are in the game their are rule, guidelines and code to obey and you know jail and/or death is practical so dont fold up when it your time
Yeah, it is a great scene... and i know what u mean, straight from the start when Johnny (Bubbles' friend) tried to offer fake dollers for drugs and was caught in the pit D was the only one that didnt beat his ass... poot, bodie all the rest did.
but about D scene in prison when he gets got i think its a bit unrealistic the way everyone thought he did himself... the rope was way to long for it to had stragled him you feel me?
Yeah i remember him sayin that, makes sense i guess when you think about it. I finished watchin the wire about 3 months ago but recently I watched just season 5 again since my cousin hadnt seen it yet. Anyway, what do you think of Omar's death?? i mean, its real sad and shit and i at first was quite dissapointed, it being a lil' kid than done him an' all. I told my dad that but he thinks it's realistic and shows how in the drug world anything unexpected can happen.
mariusSemeonortiz i think the way omar died is an example of what makes the wire THE WIRE. it is realistic (like your dad said). it is not the movies where somebody has a glorious death or something. it portrays social injustices. it is tragic that such an incredible and complex character like omar died like that.
Omar died because he had a weakness: he followed a code. A code which he wouldn´t hurt anyone who wasn´t in the game or would hurt a young hopper. Although this was a good thing, it is a weakness in the game. This proves that in the drug trafic it isnt enough to be tough, you have to be smart and cold. Very cold. Peace
I think it was entirely appropriate that Omar died as he did. It serves to remind us that even as a man like that could become legendary, and seem invulnerable because he extricates himself from incredibly dangerous situations, he remains a man and can be killed by anyone, at any time. Indeed, by making himself famous Omar actually contributed to the likelihood of an early death.
yea so do I. but most white people don't because they all have the same insecurities and it's become the social norm to be weak so no one feels bad about it. but yea, if you're a pussy you're a piece of shit in my eyes.
Bodie and D'Angelo didn't get along all that well in season 1, but Bodie knows deep down that all the experience that he was putting to use in season 2- he learned from D'Angelo. He owed alot to him.
Course he's "tough", so he doesn't know how to put that words. You can tell he really is sad about it when you see him at the funeral, though. Subtle, but effective. Great work, David Simon and JD Williams.
i agree with you naturemum. jd williams is a very good actor. in fact, the wire has some of the best actors i have ever seen. even the actors with minor roles were incredible.

"when you stand with a nigga you stand with him til the end, otherwise - otherwise you aint nothin yourself"
This quote is perfect for Bodie's character. Stood with his people, through the bad and good, until the end. The epitome of the soldier/pawn.

I was satisfied with Omar's death in the scope of the story. I was pissed that he died but him being killed in the way he was was very fitting.
