It affects the tone in the same way it doesn't.. It's hard to explain. The vibrations from YOU is what makes the sound but different materials do vibrate differently.. You can also compensate for that as well though.. That's awesome either way.
@XSaber405 "brass" instruments made out of wood have been around a long time. Stomvi makes a wood piccolo trumpet bell. Mahillon made entire instruments, including valves, out of wood during war times when brass was scarce. Wood sounds and plays fine, BUT you have to make sure no moisture sits anyplace, because the wood will expand and crack.
