The first verse of this song is quoting Genesis 11:3-6. And God does seem like a "spoiled little baby" in the story. He doesn't want mankind to be able to achieve anything it wants to, so he confuses their language. When your preachers tell you it's punishment for man's arrogance or something like that, they're ignoring the plain words of the story.
