  • Maybe a bit too crunchy for me I guess...amazing player though

  • @bassgrooves2 , everybody has their sweet spot.

I like subtle tube overdrive myself.

  • Am I the only one who doesn't care for his dirty tone? LOVE the clean tone, but can't fall in love with that dirt.

  • @bassgrooves2 I was just thinking the same thing. I wonder what he sees in that sound.

  • What the fuck make this man Great playing like a Hammer with Feelings

  • He used my 1958 Cherry red Historic Les Paul Standard with Bigsby when he recorded Sometime Tuesday Morning...He's an amazing talent, one in a lifetime.

  • looks like an artsy clapton

  • I don't think it matters what equipment he uses, with talent like that and a great back-up, its going to sound good all the time!!!

  • im blown away its amazing what great playing

  • Might be his best song.....!!!!!!!

  • I saww johnny A. in concert and got to meet him and Jesse Bast(his bass player) . He was sooo amazing in concert. Unbelievable.. Awesome talent. Great guitar toneSimplyy wonderful in every way...

  • I saw him in concert and he was AMAZING !! The tone in his guitar blows me away (: Simply wonderful..

  • This live version of Two Wheel Horse is my favorite! Awesome guitar tone!!!!!!!

  • Bad ass indeed... going to see him play live tonight. can't wait.

  • Nothin but nice! Couldn't said it better myself! Thanks Johnny A!

  • Saw Johnny in concert last night. He was incredible!

  • My favoite teacher taught me how to spell. I saw Johnny A hanging sheetrock in CBGB's ( in '83 ) trying to support the pursuit of his great talent. So many talented musicians never get recognition , I'm glad Johnny never gave up.

  • My favorite teatcher in my school new johny A growing up it's soo cool

  • Seen him three times now. It's always such a great night out when you take in one of his shows.

  • Great, great guitar player.

  • I saw Johnny A open for Eric Johnson and his sound was so pure and lively! He has a fantastic touch on the strings just like Eric.

  • I find this song so infectious! Just saw him do this live on Saturday, and it was even better than this, if that's possible!

  • I was at Tupelo too !!.. Wasn't he amazing ??..

( as were Ron and Jesse).. I love this song but Get Inside has become my favorite..

  • It doesn't have to be hard or technical or Em7b9 arpeggio's 250 bmp to be good playing^o)

  • well, i know that, one of my favorite guitar players ever is kurt cobain.

But yamandu costa is a thousand times better than that guy for sure.

  • Don't know that yamandu guy..could be true..i'm not saying Johnny A is the greatest guitar player ever or something=d He's just a really good jazzybluesfusion guitarist with some tasty licks..let's leave it there;)

  • wheres the video of you doing it?

  • you can hear me on my mysapce. my url is renanmartins

  • Yamandu is simply one of the most spectacular brazilian bossa/classical violonists of our time, after maybe Baden Powell. And eenhoopzever, so sorry but Yamandu does thing for the music, not like some shithead iankee named Michael Batio. Brazilians make music for love buddy, not for corporations. Espero ter me feito claro.

  • Baden é o melhor.

  • so fucking tasteful!

  • What's that big chord he hits in the very beginning?

  • Looks like a ninth of some kind, sounds like a sus chord. So........Sus 9?

  • It's a D-flat 7th, with the 7th on the bottom. He hits the A string, 2nd fret with his middle finger, D string 3rd fret with his pinky, G string 1st fret with his pointer and B string 2nd fret with his ring finger.

Cool, isn't it? This is the best Johnny A I've ever heard!

  • Also why does he not just do vibrato with his fingers

  • its because he gets a better sound out of the bigsby

  • because a Bigsby does tremelo, not vibrato.

  • lol, i'm pretty sure the Bigsby does not do modulation in volume. It does Vibrato just like his fingers would. And @ tomazco, he uses the Bigsby because most of his vibrato is used on chords, not to practical to try to do that with your fingers.

  • L all you want, junior, tremolo [which I did I misspell below) is defined as "rapid reiteration of a musical tone OR ALTERNATING TONES, to produce a tremulous effect" (Webster's). Do your homework next time.

  • ...Which does not have anything to do with what a Bigsby, or any other "tremolo" unit does. Its just an old misnomer from back in the Fender days. Tremolo = modulation in volume, Vibrato = modulation in pitch. What a Bigsby does is technically Vibrato seeing as how it is not doing anything to the volume, we've just always called them "tremolos" because Leo called em' that. :P

  • I can see reading for comprehension not your long suit, won't try to change your mind. My dictionary disagrees with your definition. Believe as you will.

  • Because vibrato with the fingers brings the notes up, the bigsby down, and the bigsby sounds better for chords?

  • That is an amazing looking guitar but it goes pretty out of tune after the bigsby is used, on the clean sound

  • a beautiful mix between jazz and rock!!!

  • really easy to listen to and watch.

    'a one horse show'

  • should be on guitar hero... or a Jonny A. guitar battle!

  • love his style. johnny a is bad ass

  • Better than ever, at CHANS May 8th don't miss this one.

  • I never get tired of seeing this video...Johnny throws in everything AND the kitchen sink. Note how he does flatpicking, fingerpicking, muting, vibrato, both mechanical and finger, all at the same time!

  • In regards to "how to play that riff at 4:35"...

1st finger on 4th fret, 4th string, bend a whole step and alternate with 3rd finger on 6th fret, 4th string...I believe that is an old Jeff Beck riff. davegonz

  • Folks Sometime Tuesday Morning is an incredible album... buy it!

  • Wow...I gotta add Johnny A to my list of favorite guitarists. I'd see his signature guitar in the catalogs and thought he was a metalhead. Damn he's got the the mojo...right up there with Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bonnie Raitt, Eric Johnson, etc. I'm getting his DVD asap.

  • ...not to mention he's got probably the coolest looking guitars out there....

  • does anybody else notice he's a little bit out of tune?

  • yes a little bit...

  • What do you expect when he's yanking on the Bigsby? those things never stay in tune.

  • Mine does! Just get the nut filed :)

  • This guy is great i learned "Oh Yeah" great stuff in that song! (and this one)

  • Saw him a couple of years ago supporting Joe Satriani in Manchester, bought the album straight after it :) never looked back.

He rivals Eric Johnson in Tonality.

  • first saw him on you tube

even better live @ Iron Horse

Will check him out in Worcester in Sept.

  • Man, I can't get enough of his stuff.

  • GREAT, I've heard this excerpt afore a my oh my it has a nasty but addictive vibe.

  • i saw this guy whilst supporting joe satriani two years ago and i think his tone his so clear he has his own unique style. Nice cheesy name too ha ha.

  • im 13 and johnny is one of my heros he so frekin cool!

  • This song kicks ass.. to bad guys like this arent the rich ones in hollywood... not puffy and britney..

  • I saw this guy live. HE'S SO CRAZY AND HAS SUCH KICK ASS TONE! After seeing him I learned this whole song.

  • daaang!! nice tone!!

  • Deeeeelicious.

  • Johnny's tone is simply perfect.

how do you play that riff at 4:35? i must find out!

  • Sounds great very Eric Johnsonish I guess that was obvious?

  • Some of these riffs are hella close to those on Stu Hamm's "Lone Star".

Love Johhy's mojo. Like many he was so close to success, just one little innovation away. His loser vocalist gave him the insight to take his whole act to a much higher level. Go Johnny, go!

  • so what, he's great, so what?

  • beatiful sound, licks & riffs

  • have seen him at many free venues and consider it a musical honor that we have had the chance to do so. we can't understand how

he's not selling out madison square garden.

    SUPERB

  • because the millions of kids in america can't relate to this.

  • im 16 and i love Johnny's stuff

  • Ditto, except I'm Norweigan not American.

  • yeah millions of american kids are obsessed with fall out boy and other talentless bull. im 16 and ashamed of many of my peers and their lack of understanding of musical talent. johnny deserves so much more recognition

  • lol no joke ozzy although i do disagree with your name lol imagine dave mustaine as prezident lol but no joke i know what your talkin about im 17 and live in friggen florida and everyone is apparently gangster because they listen to crappy ass rap but i sadly only started listenen to this guy just today and now i love hs stuff this is good music im into all music though except for country and rap i seriously dont understand why musicians like this arent the ones to make millions it baffles me.

  • yeah i disagree about my name too, its just an old thing i had and decided to use it for my account. and idk why you dont like country but you should check out instrumental country like form Johnny A,Johnny Hiland, and Brad Paisley has a few instrumentals. great talent and skill

  • Johhny A. as well as Bela Fleck are awesome. Thanks for the vid!!!

  • If he has a guitar tech he should be pissed off at him - his guitar is out of tune - and right from the begining!

  • HI, johonny ,great performance !! to Bologna italy thanks thanks,!!!!

  • I saw this Guy open for Joe Satriani in Glasgow, n i thought he was incredible. Deserves to headline next time!

  • Saw Johnny A open for Eric Johnson in 2001 in Atlanta at the Variety Playhouse. he was fantastic that night.

  • He's awesome. Great tone. Touches of Wes, blues, rockabilly, Jeff Beck and thumpy bass rock. Great live. I saw him a couple months ago in Indy.

  • Awesome song! Johnny A has some tasty licks and a very nice sense of music!

  • so what's the deal with this song? is it like a medley/tribute of famous riffs? so far i hear the beatles and that crazy song "Apache"

  • i'd say he reminds me more of EJ than any. But, I like Johnny A's music much more. I also hear some RONNIE EARL. I wood love to play like this... to me, this is what guitar is all about....

  • saw him @ the firehouse in Natick over the summer, greatest sound he had since last yr @ Berklee

  • Saw him In NH last year, it was awesome. If u want to learn his stuff, he has books out with full notation and tabs (and some bass lines) for both of his CD's. Check them out.

  • Cool. Legal mesmo.

  • Saw johnny at Birmingham with Satriani, and he was brilliant

  • Saw this guy in Bournemouth touring with Joe satriani Great music!

  • Yeah, with a little Danny Gatton and Jimi Hendrix as well as a bit of Chet Atkins in the right hand work.

  • with a hint of eric johnson

  • reminds me o SRV in his aproach 2 blues
