Gladys Knight with 1 Pip was at the Bluesfest in Ottawa a few years ago. I swear, it was the best time I had in all the concerts I've been attending. She belted out her songs and I was singing (off-key) along with her. She was great in the 70s, she's still great now. I know this is a sacrilege but I consider Gladys Knight the Queen of Soul. So there!

I had the privilage of seeing Gladys at the Manchester Palace Theatre (in the UK) in the 1970s. At that time she was pregnant. After a long build up she walked onto the stage only to be partially buried with bunches of flowers thrown by the audience. It was too much for her and she walked off. The Pips kept dancing until she eventually re-aooeared and thanked Manchester for such a warm reception. God bless Gladys and the Pips.
