If you're playing with buddies and something drops for you that they could use all you have to do is just drop it out of your inventory and they can pick it up

dont really understand why blizzard is dumbing down this game... let me get this right: so you can start a character from level 1...get powerful gear that you've accumulated from previous characters (without even having to kill anything with your current one) and then head to the AH to buy even more powerful stuff... wow....just wow blizzard...might as well put level 60 on the AH.
@iamthewizard2 All "powerful" items have a minimum lvl of course! So no, your lvl 1 char cant just wear bought or handed down items. You actually have to lvl your char to be able to wear those items. I think this is smart not dumb since all decent weapons wont just go to waste on your char that doesnt need them.

And btw, you can transfer your items from one of your characters to another one of your characters in Diablo 2 with the help of a friend.
