We can't expect this generation to worship the way people used to because things have changed. Just like we don't worship like the Isrialites did, because times have changed since then. These songs have power just like hymns did and still do. And they reach people.  Isn't that the goal? To reach people for Christ?

The purpose of a worship atmoshpere like this is to meet people where they're at and reach them with the music styles that they're used to. If you ask any non-christian about why they don't like christian music, they'll say it's because it dosen't have any relevence to them and it's too old and too slow, etc. The music pastor at my church is actually from Hillsong United when it first got its start and that's what he'll say to anyone who condemns him for his worship style.

it's actually not a concert..i remember talking to joel houston and he said he got so frustrated when people treated it as a concert rather than a gathering of people worshipping there Lord and Saviour but i am glad you see where i am comin from :). its a hard one to decide really coz you want people to to get excited and in the mood but at the same time

in no way am i judging hillsong or there worship style..but i personally think when my band does worship through song we don't try to create an atmosphere with flashy lights n smoke machines etc..we allow GOD to create the atmosphere..but dave, you have no right to judge these people..you are not God and do not know their hearts, God has not called us to judge sinners but help them..don't let that religious spirit take over...

These people are using their talents FOR GOD'S GLORY.
