The press showed him the most attention, but that doesn't mean he asked for it, or even wanted it. People were drawn to him the most for whatever reason. Just because he stepped up and took it doesn't mean it was what he wanted. I remember the AP interview with Patrick talking about how thats exactly it. People have always been drawn to Pete, but that doesn't mean he enjoys it.
