Okay I have owned both a e38 7series BMW and a C class w202 Mercedes sport tuned. Although not a fair comparison let me explain. I enjoyed them both, everything you think a BMW is, it is. Mercedes surprised me however with the handling and the quickness of the gear shift's. I would sum it up rather quickly with good points. BMW: Handling,power,transmission, and gear ratio tuned for high speed. Mercedes: Reliable, Transmission, predictable, Short gear ratio for quick acceleration. Advantage none

The M is better than any comparable AMG on the track because it utilizes its power and not relying on burning more gas to create more horsepower/torque which results in useless tire spin. In a straight line the AMG has a slightly higher advantage but the M will roast it on the track.

No I know for a fact that the AMG is horrible in comparison to M and ISF. Look at any car review and they will tell you how much wasted horsepower/torque goes into wheel spin and burnt rubber. This is the 5.5L supercharged E55 vs. the new 4.0L V8 M3. The E55 has more power and torque but it is much heavier that is why the race is close. The old inline 6 M3 would have been blown off the track.
5.4L actually. The Merc. isn't build to carve corners, but the AMG model does damn well. I will never have my AMG at the limits because I don't think I should toss it around like I used to toss my sti around and have tossed friends E46 M3's around. It is a straight line, luxury saloon, but surprisingly it can hold it's own in the corners if you have the balls to push it.
The E55 beats the M3 whether from a start or rolling - the Merc uses torque, the M3 is relying on revs, which works on a race track, but not in the real world.
I had an E55 with smaller pulley wheel, exhaust and tune and got sick of M3's so started smashing 5's and 6's which at least gave a race. The BMW is a better track car..........I drive on the road!!
The M3 started in too low a gear, it sounded like it was at redline when the race started. One more gear higher would have been better I'm sure. Both are amazing cars, thanks for the vid.
The reason the E55 didn't win by much is because of 2 reasons.
1. The M3's engine is a really good engine an you can't argue with that. BMW did an excellent job with this.
2. The E55 AMG's weight! At just about 400lbs heavier than the M3. If the eight difference were reversed with over 40+ Hp and 200+ torque, it would have raped the M3.
the m3 should have won. you can hear the revs of the m3 and the driver is clearly shifting too early and is not reaching the 8,300 rpm mark where max power is acheived.
think about the facts here.... the bmw has a 4.0 ltr engine while the merc has a 5.0 ltr kompressor(supercharged) engine! This shows how fucking nice the bmw m3 is and it shows how fucking stupid that merc looks cause they can only do big engines in big cars... end of fucking story

Gustav, it appears that for all the M cars, this M3, the M6, M5, in many of the vids, at 50kph launch point, they are near the top of their 2nd gear and they don't seem to be able to start the race from exactly 50kph very well.
Thoughts? Maybe 35kph would be better? Unless traction issues.

It's not that at all. When I see a 600+hp E55 lose to a M6 it just really gets you excited. I raced my friends stock M6 with my stock 55 in every possible start or roll or whatevr and of course it is faster but from 40-150 I was behind 5-6 cars more or less. If I had an extra 140hp I dont see how the M6 is going to get away from my 55. I love all the videos alwayz fun to watch it's just some races are sometimes questionable.
Going to have to agree with you either these modded 65s and 55s are SUPER heat soaked when they race or or not running right and or not putting down the power claimed. I know FACT a 540RWHP E55 with take out a stock M6 atleast to 150mph since we slowed down after that. I knew both car owners and this E55 is running perfect and puts down the power. I have no doubt in the M5 and M6 have driven many and raced some serious cars with them.

The M is better than any comparable AMG on the track because it utilizes its power and not relying on burning more gas to create more horsepower/torque which results in useless tire spin. In a straight line the AMG has a slightly higher advantage but the M will roast it on the track.

I drove my old GS 4.0 V8 to 140 mph on a test track. So I would I say I did test it to 9.5/10 of its potential lol.

i drive the MB daily and sometimes close to the limit and i don't think it is that horrible as BM fans are saying... i quite like it

Guys some of your comments are pathetic. None of you are ever going to find the limitations of an AMG on the track, letalone the street - do you guys even own one??
On the street TORQUE WINS RACES - if you are wealthy enough to race AMG or M series cars on the track (no insurance) who cares about fuel consumption or tyre spin.
Don't be brand bias - I also have a 15k japper that would kill any AMG or M series
round any track so what then?

No I know for a fact that the AMG is horrible in comparison to M and ISF. Look at any car review and they will tell you how much wasted horsepower/torque goes into wheel spin and burnt rubber. The Simple fifth gear, Top gear, or motortrend car review will show you how ridiculously out of control the AMG's are. So no, I'm not "f'ing nuts"

This is the 5.5L supercharged E55 vs. the new 4.0L V8 M3. The E55 has more power and torque but it is much heavier that is why the race is close. The old inline 6 M3 would have been blown off the track.

5.4L actually. The Merc. isn't build to carve corners, but the AMG model does damn well. I will never have my AMG at the limits because I don't think I should toss it around like I used to toss my sti around and have tossed friends E46 M3's around. It is a straight line, luxury saloon, but surprisingly it can hold it's own in the corners if you have the balls to push it.

The E55 beats the M3 whether from a start or rolling - the Merc uses torque, the M3 is relying on revs, which works on a race track, but not in the real world.
I had an E55 with smaller pulley wheel, exhaust and tune and got sick of M3's so started smashing 5's and 6's which at least gave a race. The BMW is a better track car..........I drive on the road!!

The M3 started in too low a gear, it sounded like it was at redline when the race started. One more gear higher would have been better I'm sure. Both are amazing cars, thanks for the vid.

The reason the E55 didn't win by much is because of 2 reasons.
1. The M3's engine is a really good engine an you can't argue with that. BMW did an excellent job with this.
2. The E55 AMG's weight! At just about 400lbs heavier than the M3. If the eight difference were reversed with over 40+ Hp and 200+ torque, it would have raped the M3.

It's a 5.4L Supercharged V8 vs a N/A V8 with 414hp(or something) and less tq. The E55 has 469hp/516tq in the states. Also, the E55 weighs 4250lbs.

the m3 should have won. you can hear the revs of the m3 and the driver is clearly shifting too early and is not reaching the 8,300 rpm mark where max power is acheived.

NO no end of this story an e93 me is from 2007 is new engeneering not engeneering from 2002 an 6.6l amy engin from 1956 have 120 hp the mercedes have older engeneering ! and the real test is an w203 c32 amg versus e46 m3 and an w204 c63 vs e92 m3 and an w211 e55 amg vs e39 m5 and than come bmw white an aswer the e60 m5 and now mercedes with the e63 amg vs e60 m5 and i can tel you an e55 amg dont lose from an e60 m5!! this is the end of the story!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gustav, it appears that for all the M cars, this M3, the M6, M5, in many of the vids, at 50kph launch point, they are near the top of their 2nd gear and they don't seem to be able to start the race from exactly 50kph very well.
Thoughts? Maybe 35kph would be better? Unless traction issues.

On the M5 it seems starting from 50 is not as bas as for the M3. But with a fast semiautomated gearbox, 1st is the one to choose.

It's not that at all. When I see a 600+hp E55 lose to a M6 it just really gets you excited. I raced my friends stock M6 with my stock 55 in every possible start or roll or whatevr and of course it is faster but from 40-150 I was behind 5-6 cars more or less. If I had an extra 140hp I dont see how the M6 is going to get away from my 55. I love all the videos alwayz fun to watch it's just some races are sometimes questionable.

Going to have to agree with you either these modded 65s and 55s are SUPER heat soaked when they race or or not running right and or not putting down the power claimed. I know FACT a 540RWHP E55 with take out a stock M6 atleast to 150mph since we slowed down after that. I knew both car owners and this E55 is running perfect and puts down the power. I have no doubt in the M5 and M6 have driven many and raced some serious cars with them.
