@NUASHIM , no its not,,, the "Damn damn damn James" is from when Florida slammed down the glass punch bowl at James Sr.'s funeral,,,,, you might know your music, but you need to update your Good Times
Not really only certain ppl from the south was making good music basically ppl who existed during the 90's everybody else that came out after 2000 was whack from the south and they did ruin hip hop! Eastside boyz, Jeezy, souljah boy, slim thug, mike jones, TI, Scrappy, david banner, bone crusher, lil flip, franchise boyz, and the rest of dem niggaz that make shit only for the clubs and have no substance in the lyrics!
@1polymath scratch dat homeboy TIP killn da game not only 4 da club but his heart goes n2 most of those records and must not b from da south cause a lot of dem south niggaz kills it
for all ya'll arguing ovet the lyrics, buy the actual cd, and all the lyrics are in the book, and that aint no interpertation of the situation but straight from the horse's mouth. go on and marinate on that for a moment
I remember standing in front of my middle school, waiting on my brother to pick me up, and just hoping he was bumping some 'Kast. He was, and when I enter the domain of his Acura I was immediately calm downed by his jives, the left over smell of weed and blacks, and hearing Outkast with these trumpets. I take great pride in saying I'm from the same state as they are.
Heard this playing at a sports bar a couple months ago. Made me feel really old for the first time in my life. Amazing song and if the price I pay to hear it is to feel old so be it.
4 all you Outkast fans who thinks Andre said hollywood cole or whatever. He said HOLLYWOOD COURT a housing project that use 2 stand in ATLANTA now its gone. R.i.P Hollywood Court.
Just to put all you cats to rest! The actual lyrics is *Ahem* "...and one nigga don' took his shirt off talkin' 'bout...'Now who else wanna fuck with Hollywood Court?'" Lol... Coming from a 17 year old who knows her music. :) This just my interpretation... of the situation...
But on another note! Does anyone know the origin of the chorus Andre sings? LOL I bet yall don't! Well if you didn't... He gets the "Damn damn damn James." from "Good Times". It's what Jame's Sr. used to say to J.J. lol
@NUASHIM It almost sounded like you knew something...lol.. Damn, damn, damn came from Good Times but James didn't say it. Florida Evans actually said it on the episode when James died...
@Sylqui Actually, I know more than just "something". I did enjoy how you tried to insult my intellect/knowledge. However, you ARE right, Florida did say (well, shout) that in the episode when James Sr. died. Anyways, thanks for clearing that up. Could have did without the arrogance though. Eh
Down with the kast since day one! Big Boi used to live right behind me in Cloverdale (West Savannah) whn he was juz Twan to us. Anyway, i always thought the name in the lyric was Hollywood Coe!
This is real music to the fullest!!! Outkast was just totally different on a level beyond HIP HOP to something that can't even be described in words. So magnificent, intelligent and raw.
RIP Hip Hop, you will be missed. But like a phoenix you shall one day rise up from the ashes more powerful than ever. Hopefully Outkast is riding that Phoenix and that phoenix drops massive shits on us in the form of legendary hip hop songs like this one.
I feel bad that this is the first time that I have heard this song and I LOVE REAL HIP HOP!!!! This song would dominate any other song on mainstream radio right now!!! Man, I was in love after hearing Prototype!!! But this is.....!! I mean this is on some Summer Madness level!!!!!!
I didn't smoke when this came out. Even though it was still a fucking masterpiece I couldn't help but recomend this album to everyone I knew at the time. It's ver 10 years later and This song literally shits on everything on the radio today imo. And the sad part is that most people have never even heard it let alone give it a chance since it is rap. This song is FUCKING amazing. Smoking only makes it 10 times better and I suggest that everyone play this for your friends next time you smoke out.
I know that ATL twang messed this up for you, but He's sayin "Now who else wanna Fuck wit Hollywoods Courts. Hollywood Courts were some projects on the westside of Atlanta that have been torn down for a couple of years.
I remember the first time I heard this groove; this blew everything out the water that had ever come before or has come since. OUTKAST transcends music beyond any boundary; not just the greatest hip hop group of all time but one of the greatest musical groups of all time.
I still remember the 1st time I heard this..my boyfriend playing it in his Sundance hooptie w/the blown out speaker... like Big Boi says "Funny how shit come together sometimes [ya dig] One moment you frequent the booty clubs & the next four years you & somebody's daughter raisin' y'all own young'n now that's a beautiful thang." 11yrs, a marriage & 2 kids later...still <3 this song! ;)
This is an awesome song. This that song you listen to when you know you and/or ya hommies done fucked up and all you can really say is damn damn damn james.....just make sure you got a hommie named James around lol
Nerdy 86, you're sick in the head if you think Big Boi is the greatest rapper. Unless you put his partner 3000 in a different category, Big Boi is not even the best in Outkast.
