What kind of string would you recommend for making a dip net for landing fish. I am looking to make a net strong enough to land large catfish, carp, and even bass. I looked at some commercially made landing nets sold at local retailers but they seemed to be over priced for the quality. One I saw had twist locks made of cheap plastic to adjust the length of the handles. This one I am mentioning was rated as a catfish net, and they wanted 40 to 60 dollars for. Looked like a big ripoff to me.

@MtofShadows LOL Nah. It worth it every ounce of it. Do you know how long does it take to make one? & Mono line net are very tricky to make. I know this from personally. cuz I make nets...LOL but make sure you have correct license to do so & take the tests too. Otherwise you'll end up with huge fine with possible good jail time in can. The fish & game people are no joke & they have a good networks. Don't risk it. Play honest. They consider taking animal as a murder case.Really & I mean it.

hello great vid. When ussing a net for rabbits can you hang it in a rabbit trail or does it have to bee over a den. thanks

@OregonBackpacker snares are used for trails , purse nets are used to cover the burrow entrance to catch the rabbit when it`s bolted out by a ferret

Make sure you have current license for "trapping" with net in Oregon. The fine is no joke really. If I were you I'd go for making rabbit purse net. It's easy to make & very useable for many reasons.Cost effective & not bulky on your back pack. You set that over the den with peg. Set out ferret into the hole then rabbit come out. without ferrets it's bit difficult. you gatta wait & sometimes it won't never come out. so,overall, it's not good for back packing.Good luck

just make the first knot as for hemp then simply make another knot on the same mesh and that`s it .
