  • This is the greatest love song ever written. Written and performed by a true genius.

Thanks for everything you have done Roy, please can we have some more now?

  • Roy Harper is one of teh greatest masters of folk rock...a singer songwriter admired by many legends from David Gilmour to Jimmy Page...and this IS his best song...an epic love ballad...from Stormcock ....perhaps the greatest acoustic guitar singer songwrietr album of all time

  • I'm not that much of a Harper fan, but when I saw him open for Joanna Newsom... Wow. That was a hell of an experience.

  • thanks for this post. anything with Roy Harper is to be treasured

  • A wicked guitar player!

  • Roy kojarz mi sie z swietym mikolajem ktory daje mi zajebistry prezent w postaci zajebistej muzyki hihi

  • OMG, that string section behind Roy is a brilliant idea. It sound absolutely fabulous, the perfect compliment to Roy. That vibrato is so lovely. And he's hitting that high "G" on the word "woMAN" with no problem. This is just heavenly, just wonderful.

I think harp and guitar would sound great together...

Okay, Roy, will you marry me, please? ; )

    C.T.

    Harpist

  • Truly Great!!

  • He's got to release this entire track live...the LP version is one of teh greatest songs of all time with Jimmy Page playing along with him...but this is simply unbelievable!

  • Has anyone got this whole track live - I'm desperate

  • Get the album 'Flashes from the Archives of Oblivion'. Best version of 'me and my woman' and it is live.

  • Incredible. I saw him last year in a tiny venue (Darwen) and quite frankly I was spellbound. I'm disgusted that I've only just discovered him at 46 years of age. I don't know what else to say except that this man had a stage presence beyond anything I have ever seen before and I came out of that gig feeling emotionally touched.

  • Also started seeing him late, in the late 80s. Was transfixed. He is simply a one man band. When he played with son Nick always special. Unhinged (live) is a good record, but a real feel of his best live years I think is Archieves of Oblivion. Has a book Passions of Great Fortune and the Stormcock web site has a good interview (pod cast) last year. He is an all time hero.

  • Magnificent....Out of this world.

  • Roy was the only artist I had to see. He is simply the greatest English singer song writer. Does anyone else miss seeing him live?

  • How many have never heard him??

What have they lost.. Without ever knowing anything?

  • What tuning is he using here? Maybe DADGAD? I would love to learn the tabs for this.

  • look on the stormcock site or hq

  • One of the best love songs ever!

    Thanks Roy!!!!

  • Exquisite

  • This "old fart" sings great for his 65 years.

  • dont call him an old fart, youll be that age one day, if youre lucky!

  • Good to see this clip. I went down to the Rhythm Festival especially to see Roy 2 years ago and have been back both years since. If you go to my page, beachviewman, you can see some videos of Richie Havens that I have taken - another great performer. Thanks.

  • thanks for posting this magik

  • saw him in livepool philharmonic 1990 - best gig ever......guitar, voice, attitude - that's all it takes!!

  • you should try to hear this song on the rare album 'flashes from the archives of oblivion' truly a great song.

  • a great british artist that deserve more recognition.

  • He's got such a beautiful mind

  • Incredible. What a legend.

  • We were there. What a beautiful night!

  • grandissimo

  • Great singer.

  • ive heard scads of tunes in my four decades but

monsieur harper leaves the rest way behind...so human and real...no one like him i know of...

  • Roy smoked the 'herbal cigarette' I threw onstage in Aberdeen at the Lemon Tree. 1990s sometime.

  • "And he's got no disguise in his eyes for his love as she nears."

Harper writes a work of heart

  • Legend of them all..

  • I was there! Roy is the best

  • Check his son out Nick Harper

  • not using the Ovations anymore then, Roy?

  • This is off the Stormcock album and I thoroughly reccomend you buy it today.

  • Ah but what the hell only time will tell where we're going to !

  • brilliant....does anyone have the whole track....>

  • Well I wish was there in 1972...

  • Oh shit ... The first time I've seen the old bugger since the Free Trade Hall in 1972. Looks different (me too) but still plays and sings a storm. Thanks for the clip!

  • Great show! I was there, somewhere to the right from where this is being filmed! First time seing Roy this was for me.. I'm a fan of his son Nick harper who was playing with him. Nick had his on slot earlyer that day and was fantastic, seen him a fiew times. Nick Harper was perfect replacment for Jimmy Page who saddly didn't make it to play with Roy Harper on that evening!

  • I agree. It was a great show.

  • lucky you! I would love to see Roy again in australia

  • Listened to this at 17, still a great piece of music. It reminds me of a time of certain great friends(from John Marley School) and care and magic and love... and still married to one of them!

  • great clip, do you have the whole thing.

  • No just this part and some othe stuff that I might put here in the future.
