We played this in the Rochester Community Orchestra some years back. We had many top musicians in the Rochester area. One day the conductor Frederick Fennell gave me the chance of a lifetime. He turned over the baton to me and said, "Let's hear what you can do.!" I felt SO GREAT!!!! I only wish I could have recorded this work.
Its definetely not a double reed bassons are too low and oboes sound different. At first i thought it was an english horn but there is no english horn in the piece and the sound is just like a clarinet. Trust me i know its a clarinet
It's a clarinet ... I don't know how you could think otherwise. This argument has been going on for two years on something that should be obvious by now.
@2:37, I'm looking at the balding guy with the glasses. He is not playing a clarinet. If you think someone else clammed the note, then I'll accept that it could be the clarinet, but if that's the guy who played it, it's an oboe.
Yes it was indeed the clarinet. Although it shows the oboe player taking the instrument out of his mouth, his mouth is open as he's taking it out. He couldn't have played the note. The note played doesn't even sound like an oboe.
Well, I'm only a cellist, but at 2:36, the poor creature missing the repeat certainly looks sounds and looks like the oboe. That's a long reed extending out of the top, doesn't look at all like a clarinet. At least the flute player enjoyed the moment.
at 2:35 ... lmao thats the best solo i've ever heard ! :D:D:D:D:D:D just teasing... it all depends on if your playing the song with repeats 2nd time or not :P
to me it sounded like an oboe- and the oboe you see at 2:36 has the instrument up even though hís entry comes only at 2:44... it seems that he puts his oboe down rather fast as the flute gives a laugh
I think that I might be capable of deciding this because I have heard many great orchetras perform this live including Berlin, New York, and Los Angelos
That's three orchestras out of the hundreds of great orchestras on this planet.
Also, you guys have to be stupid to think the mistake was made by an oboist. The reason the oboist's instrument is up is because he was playing his part at that moment, and the note he was playing was nowhere near the note the mistake was.
