In fact, there is no guarantee when countries will begin dumping the dollar but if it continues to shrink while US debt climbs (again partly due to our trade deficit) foreign investors will not be so inclined to continue to fund US debt or even keep the dollar. Trump wants to put a tariff on China to address unfair trading practices. Basically, China's future is getting more secure while ours is not.
