I wonder if you were in Sangin in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan in the spring of 2007.That WAS the British sector, over in Kandahar.The paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne had to come and literally rescue a battalion of your men. @skinner8898 I was in afghan in 2006. No americans have had to RESCUE our men.They have HELPED us a few times, just like we have helped american forces in the past. Thats how war goes. We have nothing to prove and neither do the americans. When we first moved into sangin, we took over ops from the americans and canadians. The brit forces where under siege for 4 months.It was the most intense fighting we had seen since korea.So if your so great, how come you had pulled out? so don't start that BS
When the paratroopers came and took that city back in which the battalion was stuck in the make shift FOB for 30 days saw us, they had never been happier. I'm British, my mother came over on the Queen Mary, and she wonders why I dislike British attitudes, and views. Tell me then what kind of person I am. You know as well as I do having served, that only a soldier, a soldier in this war knows that this mess is not about freedom. When people say to me thank you for your service, I don't know what to say. Or when they say thank you for fighting for our freedom, I really don't know what to say. I'm sure you know this as well as the next. My point is, is that you fight to get your men back, and you to get back.
So when people say these things about their freedom, I just nod. And that is what you should have done figuratively when you saw that entry. The man who died was a very close friend of mine. What gives you the right to tarnish and put political views on a mans tribute. No matter how I feel about the war, "which I oppose" I would never spit on another soldiers memory by messing with something another person did for a fallen brother. @skinner8898 For your information, i served 6 years in the british army. 2 iraq tours, and 2 afghanistan tours. I have a lot of respect for anyone else who has served. I have lost friends also. They died for a caulse, but that caulse was not freedom
