i am indian living in the US and I absolutely hate bollywood...they shamelessly rip off foreign movies and refuse to give credit...most of their movies are set in western countries and has a lot of english dialogs...its like they are ashamed of indians, indian languages and its culture...all of these movies have stupid unreal love storylines...they are a bad inflluence other smaller movie industries in india...
People complain of India remaking American films? What about "Down and Out in Beverly Hills", "Three Men and a Baby", "Twelve Monkeys", "Sorcerer", "The Man With One Red Shoe", "Cousins", "Algiers", "And God Created Women", "Buddy Buddy", "Men Don't Leave", "Point Of No Return", "Intersection", "The Mirror Has Two Faces" and "Breathless"? All are American remakes of FRENCH films!
@MrUnidyne the difference is we know they are remakes...they credit the original artists for story screenplay and what not...what bollywood is doing is make illegal rip off...until recently indians didnt get to watch all these hollywood movies so they will not have any idea...the movie makers claim these remakes as their own...foreigners dont watch indian movies so they will never know...i hate bollywood for doing this
@effu68 I was unaware that these films were not licensed but were open plagiarisms! Have any Hollywood studios taken legal action against these "remakes", or is there some loophole in the copyright laws that allow this?
@MrUnidyne there is no loophole...hollywood studios simply dont know they are getting ripped off...bollywood and other indian movie industries been doing this for a long time now..as i ve said earlier hollywood ppl dont watch many indian movies so they will never find out...indians dont get to watch many hollywood movies so they dont know...these ppl are makin millions rippin off others...i hope hollywood studios catch em and put these ppl out of business
@MrUnidyne even when they original stories and what not they still rip off hollywood movies by the way they are shot (cinematography), action scenes, special effects, editing etc...obviously they will not be good as the original...its like they dont know they are not supposed to copy others...i was appalled by the sheer no: of indian movies that are rip offs...there are great original movies too...i have lost all respect for indian movies
@MrUnidyne good thing i got to come to US and become a movie nerd...i used to worship these ppl for making these "wonderful" movies...after coming to US i started to watch a lot american movies...more i watched the more i came to realize that the movies i liked when i was in india was mere rip offs...it shocked me a little bit
The very least they could have done was give credit where it was due. This is blatant plagiarism and highlights the huge lack of creativity in the Indian film industry. Utterly pathetic!
It's too bad Sydney Kramer has just died. Someone needs to be sure the Indian motion picture company that pirated the intellectual and artistic rights to It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World pays for its infringement of copyright!
Thanks for pointing this out. I watched "Dhamal" this weekend and thought I was having a flashback to watching "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" when I was a kid! The palm trees at the end sealed the deal.
I always loved IaMMMMW but died a little bit inside seeing the Smiler take that sweet '56 Chevy over the cliff. However, seeing a Mercedes get demolished is a beautiful thing to behold-- the next best thing to seeing a Lexus go to the crusher...almost reason enough to buy this thing.

The Indians were smarter. They used paper instead of linen when the plane went through the billboard.

People remake movies all the time. All of us can rattle off hundreds of names of remade movies.
I don't see what people are upset about here?

Mad mad mad maddening really, this unscrupulousness, ...and though this diluted version is almost the same, they just didn't capture the magic.

Christ! Maybe the next film these hacks could "outsource" is "Robot Monster". Poor Stanley Kramer must be rolling over in his grave.
