  • Thank you. Tips like this are worth watching

  • @johnalexwarren wow no one even cares...you english people trying to think you're superior...stop saying things that dont matter when this vid was good....discriminating sherlock-holmes looking a-...

  • @11Dragontron I'm not English.

  • That's a really nice wooden desk he has there. I think really nice to have balls of solder roll on it and burn. Looks like he would have put down a heat resistant surface like a ceramic tile or even a newspaper to keep his nice desk from getting marred.

  • Horrible video, can't learn anything from that distance

  • This video is about Sardering, Sardering is the bondage of human to a Sardine

  • Lighting is poor. closer would be better,

  • Solder? Come on' guys, you know this is a video about office furniture....

  • a pity they got the village idiot to film and cut this video.

  • I think he was saying "sadder". He certainly looked sadder. Some "saddering" tips at glodark dot com

  • what the fuck's a sarder?

  • you should show close ups so we can see what you are doing - thanks for sharing

  • why is everybody hating on this dude's video? it's the internet. find another video.

  • I'm a novice at capacitor replacement but I believe that following this tutorial will result in an explosion 50% of the time. There is a positive lead and a negative lead on a capacitor, if it is installed positive to negative, it will explode. If you don't align positive to positive, negative to negative, you will blow the cap. This guy is a 50/50 crapshoot.

  • @wa6tkq both "Sodder" and "Solder" are appropriate pronunciations. In North America, "Sodder" is the more prominent pronunciation, whereas in the UK and surrounding areas, it is commonly referred to as "Solder"

In other news, this video is terrible. Not only was it horribly filmed, but it seems the guy giving out advice needs some advice for himself. His iron tip was crazy oxidized... didn't tin the tip. He started to play around with the solder using his iron.... tsk tsk.

  • Check out /watch?v=YCSNWi3UHf4 for a much better capacitor replacement tutorial.

  • The correct pronunciation is sodder. The L is silent. Rhymes with plodder.

  • Check out collin cunninghams vids on the makemag channell, really good electronics videos

  • That had to be the worst "how to" video I ever saw.

  • Not a bad video but I HATE to sit through a commercial before viewing things on youtube. This approach to making a few dollars is going to ruin the internet. It is getting worse than watching TV.

  • At least we have legitimate observations regarding work and vid quality. You petty pronunciation police should take your show on the road. You are wrong. Further, pronunciation inextricably ties to local accent and syllabic emphasis. In American, pronuciation is saw-der. Enunciate that now. Again. Now get your puerile butt of your Cheeto laden sofa, so that you might eventually marginally speak and/or write. Coherently. Correctly. We're here for solderig tips, good or bad. Focus your complaint.

  • Expertvillage is rubbish.

  • IT IS SOLDER not soder SOLLLLLLDDDDDer like Sold er

  • oh behalf of expert village... ur the flamethrower lmao!!

  • I believe its pronounced "soul-der" not "sar-der"

  • A butane soldering iron? That is not even professional.

  • Not that soldering is rocket science but Expert Village (I hate to even call it that) videos are universally bad. It doesn't seem to matter what the subject they are just bad. It seems like they take anyone who can say "Expert Village" and use their video.

  • Did you make this video for the public or yourself? Just because you and the douche holding the camera can see the soldering doesn't mean we can! Its called ZOOOOM!

  • before watching this video i didn't know what a component was............

  • Please balance your audio....it's incredible annoying hearing the audio from only the right side.

  • poor video

  • i got my degree from youtube university

  • Maybe they are following ehow's example and only letting professional writers contribute now instead of people that know what they are talking about.

  • Why is it you Americans have to butcher the English language? It's solder...SOL-DER, not sarda, what the hell is sarda?

  • @johnalexwarren he didn't say sarda...

  • @johnalexwarren Good one! LOL

  • @johnalexwarren He doesn't really say sarda, but soder or sader.

  • noob village strikes again!

  • This video was mildly helpful.

  • DO you need flux to solder electronics?

  • well that was a lot of help :) not.....

  • they should call this one How to be a fagget and not show people how to solder

  • THEY HAVE 140.000 VIDEOS UPLOADED WTF

  • Man, i love that pana-vise. It`s simply brilliant.

  • why are people hating on this video i learned so mu- just kidding this video is horrible lol.

  • I like how these Expert Village videos suck redneck testicles.

  • That look so easy, and I noticed that my soldered connections don't look that good. I have some power cords which need to be soldered since my cat chewed them up. One of them runs to an external hard drive and I was wondering it soldering the cord together would be like that?

  • i suk i have only 15 watts and it suks

  • @JoeBro715 LOL

  • hey dude you are the best!

  • The vise is not a good idea. If you drop it or knock it on the floor the board will break. Just lay the board down on a desk.

  • after replacing the bulging tops of the capacitors in my lcd monitor i have encountered a new problem. my monitor is fast heating. in just an hour my monitor has a 60dcelcius hot i think bcoz i cant touch it with my bare hands. someone can help me??? i dont know how to fix it coz i dont know the problem in my monitor. please help me before my monitor gets overheated and turn off in just an hour... thanks!!!!!!!

  • turn it off moron and return in or call tha manufacturer u might burn ur house down....

  • @litlemoboi Check and make sure you have the caps in the right way. If one is in backwards it will cause it to overheat. Also not all the caps will vent and show visible signs damage. Check all the caps. Check the diodes feeding the caps for shorts.

  • Ok im just double checking - do you need different wattage soldering irons for circuit board soldering and wire soldering/tinning?

  • i cant get to the back f the circuit board, so i guess im supposed to just solder the front?

  • i have 40/60 acid core lead

  • It's really lame to be tutoring about tiny bits and to NEVER show them. Who the hell can see what you're actually doing?

  • on my pcb, it doesn't show which is positive or negative. Since this is my first project, I want to be very careful. I know which is which on the capacitor, but wanna know if I am installing right. In the circle where I removed the bad capacitors is a black side of the circle, and a yellow side(the color of the pcb side). Which side is + or -? And should I go + to + - to -?

  • @knockout1981pro Black side is negative

  • lol this guy is dum

  • did the capacitor work after you soldered it you seemed to put a lot of heat to it i would hate to see you soldering a transistor of a chip

  • LMAO SO HARD!

  • Why have i never seen a capacitor with bent over pins before if thats how your supposed to do it?

  • @Dully222 normally, it is mounted fluch with the pcb unless used in a breadboard, or it may be bent to fit other components or fit a case of some sort. Otherwise it shouldn't really be bent

  • I was already typing my "expertvillage truly does suck" I noticed that several others share this opinion. WTF? How the hell did you get funded?

  • ........ yet another person from expertvillage that has no clue what there talking about.

  • holly shit

    thx a lot

i was using a hard and fat soldering iron(i am silly)

    laugh at me

  • ahaha!!

  • Could have used better close up of the circuit components being soldered and more information than just "nice and shiny solder".

  • haha baldy is the shit

  • If it was simply dialect, they would also mispronounce 'soldier'. I think it's simply ignorance of the origins of the word. It is a derivative of the Latin 'solidare' meaning 'to form/make solid'. Therefore, the emphasis is on the modern word 'solid' which has a fully pronounceable 'L'. Perhaps it helps to remember from where the English language came.

  • Well, more recently it came from the Middle English word soudour, which has no "L".

  • they*

  • is this one of those sarcastic how NOT to do something videos?

  • hi, im ken orlich. and in this episode we're going to die due to poor ventilation!

  • Expert, my arse. And why are americans unable to pronounce 'solder'?

  • Comment removed

  • Than can, it's just their accent!

  • wtf?..........terrible vid......i'm off.....

  • I just need this to mod my hori ex2 fight stick when i get one.

  • did not help me learn to solder, but it was pleasant to watch the shiny head bob around the screen.

  • ha we were building circuits in my class the other day and some dude wired a 0.1microFarad cap reversed and it went POP

it sounded like a black cat firecracker lol

  • That is EXACTLY what happened to me like a week ago! I was building an amp for the class (I'm a student and am probably the best electrical engineer in my class..., lol) And when I said, "Ok, now you take your uh... 0.1 uF cap and solder it to the board." And it was finished! But I connected power and in like 5 secs or so... BAM! and everyone hit the floor lmao! fun day there... fun day...

  • lol

  • bad camera angle... and would be much better if it's zoomed in onto the capacitor leads.

  • Why are ExpertVillage videos so bad? Have you seen the expert village videos on "how to make a fence?" - worst one yet. Anyways, you did not show any technique about HOW to solder. You talked a lot about PCB's and components and stuff, but only took like 10 sec of the whole video to solder! You need to go over the process of tinning the tip, cleaning the tip, times, etc.etc. Plus we couldn't see either!

  • You hit the nail on the head! I'm surprised "Expert Village" videos don't get slammed more often. I think the welding videos are some of the worst.

  • did u make a video how to use a Soldering iron

  • @coolboarder44 I agree Expert Village videos are the worst!

  • @coolboarder44 do you needs a heat sink when woring on a computer PCB?

  • @1littlelee You should use a heat sink when you are soldering heat sensitive components. If you're just soldering a resistor, capacitor, LED, etc. on a computer PCB, they can typically withstand the heat from a soldering iron for the time that it takes to solder it on. So for that kind of stuff, a heat sink is unnecessary. Look at the spec sheet for the specific component you want to work with; it'll give max temperatures and max soldering times - any longer/higher and you'll want a sink.

  • @coolboarder44 i agree man, all there videos suck

  • he just makes it harder to solder

  • This is how you should not solder. incompetent and incorrect.

  • Let's see how pro your skills are

  • I didn't wear a condom correctly. That's why you're here.

  • haha thats funny

  • I can barely see Your Technique, You need To Press The ZoomIn Function on your CamCorder

  • This is not A good Video, You need Too Zoom In the Camera Lens, I have seen better.

  • Leatherman!!

  • is it possible to use to much solder??

  • Oh yeah, always try to use as little as you can while still making a strong joint. It usually doesn't take much solder to make a good weld.

  • can i use a paper clip as solder?

  • YES.

  • Possibly, but obviously not a plastic-lined one.

  • Comment removed

  • is the solder flux has side effict if i tuch it by hand

  • Gust shut up >>>>>>>>>

  • Dude u should have worn a cap the glare of u'r head is blinding me.and that torch u was using is what he probably uses for his crack pipe..What an idiot.

  • lmao yo that was hilarious

  • sinse when was solder pronounced sorder?

  • you neglect to mention how imperitive it is you get the polarity of the components right. if you're taking things off to test, make sure you mark the board, or at the very least take a picture... or something...

  • this video sucks! u cant see what hes doing because its way too small or his hands get in the way

  • "really kind of sounds like a flamethrower."

    hahahah nice

  • Ross is boring

  • soldering AIN'T EASY you have to do it FAST or it will get fried

  • Exactly :D i've tried and failed dozens of times lol but i finally go it right "YAY!!"

  • what hapend to ross...............

  • i hate ross his video suck and he talks weird i like this guy better

  • but i liked his intro lol

  • yeah thats the only cool thing he had. he was electronicly retarted

  • ya i guess

  • Thanks for the video. Reading text examples don't provide enough information!

  • Cool and informative. You could have done with more light and a closeup!. Cheers.
