  • We miss you, Evan. Please-winter, spring, summer or fall...all you have to do is call...and I'll be there...you've got a drug-buddy!

(p.s. any info on how to obtain Australian citizenship would be just great...)

    Cheers!

    Jen

p.s. Is that Julianna Hatfield on background vocals?

  • Yes, that is Juliana.

  • this was shot in my studio and we were on drugs.... true

  • i met even dando, hes awsome

  • I'M YOUR NEW DRUG BUDDY, PONY!

  • I love my Drug Buddy...Becki S...hope you read this...love dannyman xxx

  • What's your fav. D? Mine is alcohol and herbs.

  • Cocaine, speed, the drink and ecstacy.

  • Wow, you need rehab....!! :7)

  • Evan rocks...wish he were my drug buddy!

  • One of the most beautiful songs, ever.

And who knows where the time goes ...

Glück und Traurigkeit liegen doch sehr nah beieinander, irgendwie.

  • beautiful song <3

  • Muggins!

  • A lot of people learned about this song from Ben Kweller, another good guy.

  • if u like this...checkout FREE ELDER on youtube

  • ahh i have a drug buddy also

  • This song always reminds me of being a speed freak. That was a long time ago,but the memories it evokes are intense.

    "I'm too much with myself"

    Bless the Lemonheads.

  • im a little bit jewish =D

  • I'm like, completely jewish..

  • JEWS! XD

  • We are all cool here :)

  • My family comes from the Eastern Orthodox sect of Judaism from Russia.

  • What the hell kind of a name is Kweller?!

  • um.. i give up, what kind of name is it?

  • Jewish?

  • awesome song....it makes me remind a friend that i've lost recently...

  • ur drug buddy?

  • Ben Kweller does a good cover of this song.

  • I love Juliana Hatfield's backup vocals on their tracks. I wish Evan and her would've made whole albums together.

  • nice song!

  • i love this song

i used to get high everyday with my best friends

but all that had to stop

    cause things changed

and now lookin back on the memories

    it was fun

  • I feel the same!

  • Amen man

  • I don't love my drug buddies, nothing but trouble

  • i'm too much with my self....

    i want be someone else....

    i love my drug buddy...

  • "look up ben kweller , he covered this song nicely"

doesn't seem to be a very popular opinion.

  • the lemonheads were right on

  • I've seen the lemonheads yesterday...before i didn't know them...they're great!

  • Lol

  • Why does music suck so much these days? I miss the Lemonheads, Black Crowes, and Grunge bands of the 90's.

I feel so out of place since none of my peers care for this music.

  • also a great over-looked band from the grunge era is Lync and their album These are not Fall Colors. You can heard a lot of where Built to Spill and Modest Mouse got their sound.

  • great song

  • I miss my drug buddies! I need to meet some psychonauts around here!

  • You know it xxx

  • "Give me drugs instead of your ideas." Jason (Spaceman) Pierce. Spiritualized.

  • Man, this song calls rain to your window.

  • i haven´t used them for about nine years now.simply because it was about time making a decision.live or die.

  • i havent done drugs for about 5 years now and when i see my drug buddies i dont know what to say as the only thing we really have in common is drugs and i dont want to be around them anymore thats the hardest bit of going straight is leaving your friends behind

  • and heroin.

  • Dear kreeus,

does your mummy know your not in bed yet?

I thought she told you about using the computer unsupervised.

    Lemonheads rock......for those who understand.

  • The Lemonheads are one of my favorite bands, have been for years. My 'horse shit' comment was meant to be a reply to someone's stupid comment...which seems to have disappeared...

  • Man I am sorry, Please accept my sincere apologies. I love em too.

  • No problem. I would defend the Lemonheads, too! LOL I see the comment I was replying to now....the one that says his 'love is his drug'...this song was written about buying drugs with a friend in Australia.

  • woo! australia!!! 90s forever!! man i love the lemonheads so much... they seem to have corrupted my guitar playing coz after a 1 hour session i relised ive only been playing chords and singing... haha its ok lemonheads are the greatist!!

  • pure class

  • =))

  • saw them in the savoy last may un fuckin real

  • any body know where the smoke's at ?

  • Eh, No harm no foul. I had the tape cassette with "My Drug Buddy" printed on its label in the early 90's, when I upgraded and bought the CD in the late 90s it was just "Buddy". I also had some Lemonheads sheet music book and it was called "My Drug Buddy".

  • Indeed, they changed the name because people felt it wasn't a good image for the band.. Dando went and became a crackhead. Oh, the irony.

  • you are so right, i bought the single, and it was titled "My drug Budy", i beleive it was un the early 90's.

Somehow maybe when it was reissued the title was changed, but originally was " My drug Buddy". Love this song, i can relate so well, i quit doing drugs five years ago, and the hardest thing was to leave behind " My drug Buddies" It is a shame, they don't want to change, i do. Thanks for posting it

  • Great tune. But the song title is just "buddy"...check the record dude.

  • I'm pretty sure the line is "there's still some of the same stuff we got yesterday", because the girl just got out of the phone-booth when she's saying it (according to the lyrics)- so to ask "is this from the same stuff we got yesterday" to Evan wouldn't make sense because he's not selling it. just an obseravation :)

  • Ah knew ye were a good son, so ah did, now, dont wake yer ma...there's a good son...

  • sure son, toul ye about the bad boys...now, get in off the streets afore ah scald ya...

  • Right, without being patronising....Fucking Bullshit everyone...from someone who has seen The Lemonheads in their prime which was an album called "Shame about Ray"...Evan Dando was a fukin major skag head fer a while(the words of this song are autobiographical)...jus enjoy an stop talkin about "pot"...makes ya sound about 10 yrs old.

  • Yea, Look at all the nerds. I say keep it green - keep it clean. Mother Earth and so forth. Never downplay the importance of a good pot buzz either. Just enjoy the music and quit fussing over everything you bunch of nerds. P.S. I must be a nerd too for conversing thing this long with you'all.

  • I think it could mean different things to different people, but the war on drugs is a selfish one.

  • Uhh... No. Yes, it is a love song, but its a dark one with its implications and duality. DB could be anything from a weed buddy to a more seedy addiction that otherwise has to be hidden from everyone else you love. What better a buddy than one who understands and lives your addiction first hand and can love you back?

At least that's how I've listened to the tune.

  • Really makes me think back to this great time when I was 18. I partied every day, listened to this CD non stop, and had more friends than I could handle. Oh how things have changed.

  • you must have been teenager during the 'grunge' years when alternative described music.

  • Yep. I graduated from high school in 1994.

  • me too. and I completely relate to you!

  • i was born dec 1, 94

but i still love the lemonheads, though i cant say i relate to this song hehe

  • Oh! Pity you.

  • I useda listen to this album about 12/3 years ago...brings back some good/bad memories...amazingly good simple lyrics that we all can relate to..my drug buddy just got married y/day in NY..Brilliant

  • Juliana Hatfield sounded great w/ Dando

  • indeed indeed

  • Evan Dando rocks

  • i love this song

  • story of my life

  • New Orleans is where I live if that explaines it!!

  • This is one of the greatest songs ever,,, if your a little older and looking back on some of your younger years. Everybody from the "city" had that one really cool chick (possibly lover) that was there Drug Buddy!! really miss those days sometimes

  • They still got some of the same stuff they had yesterday...Always was a great thing to hear when I called the man for my daily bunny. Clean now, shit nearly killed me physically, it already did mentally, socially, spiritually.

  • theres still some of the same stuff we got yesterday..I'm to much with myself I wanna be someone else..

  • There comes a smile on her face...

too bad all the drugs killed his creativity after this album. Dando beat the shit out of music with this album.

  • Good luck to you. :)

  • saw evan dando do this when i was 15 and full of shrooms! was an amazing experience

  • j90shero ye i agree still luv da song ya cant unconnect it tho ye lol!!!

  • You're an idiot.

  • Cute :)

  • absolutely brilliant song.

  • Evan Dando actually sat down and talked to my dad and drank a few beers, and my dad thought he was cool.... I feel proud to be my dad's son.

  • Nice, I met Evan back in July of 94 in Chicago they played a free fucking show with Poi Dog Pondering.

He was mad cool. I got a hug. But I'd rather of chilled with him like your pops did.

  • Juliana Hatfield isn't in this video, but that's her singing backup and she's actually playing bass. She was in fact the bassist for the Lemonheads for some time. It's amazing how much information you can get from reading THE LINER NOTES from the CD...

  • Evan dando rules

  • Her name's Michelle. Hey Michelle if you're reading this Email me!!

  • its Julianna Hatfield. Shes got some rad music all of her own ;)

  • Is this some o' the same stuff we got yesterday?

    I heard that...many times.

  • Great song. I also like a acoustic version of this song with juliana hatfield

The lemeonheads are in the states now on tour

  • dude, dont do crack man.. for your own good.. stick to weed, thats what i do ;) maybe some shrooms once in a while.. cocaine acationally.. you know, the natural shit ^^ that other junk is mixed with fucking hair products n glue n shit:P lol

  • if you cant spell occasionally, maybe you should occasionally put down the drugs. or perhaps occasionally pick up a book.

  • It's funny, this is my favorite song from The Lemonheads and yet,I've never done drugs.

    I guess it's the relationship aspect,albeit a sad one,that hit me. *shrug*

That and the melody and music. That might've been it too. :D

  • i love this band and this song

i loved this song sadly when i was in the same situation as the lyrics

    glad im better now

but miss the song and her

  • Are these guys back on tour again??

  • Oh,and KineticRic,it's definitely heroin

  • Never knew there was a video for this. Thanks for posting it!

  • SWEET EVAN

  • Evan Dando is the most beautiful man alive

  • i listened to this on tape so much i wore it out...haven't thought to get it on CD, after this maybe i will! thanks for the walk down memory lane!

  • OH MY GOD I am old

    God speed, you teens!

  • So which drug do you folks think this song is about?

    I'm pretty sure its Heroin.

  • I'll take crack. I mean, that's what I think the song's about!

  • Hell no. The Lemonheads were very very close friends with Nirvana and they never did Crack. Crack is for bums and street whores. Heroin is more for artists and people into music.

  • I'm certain I remember reading articles in the British music press in the mid-90s where Evan Dando talked of his crack addiction. I won't put 100% faith in that memory but heroin's definetely got the most 'arty' myth. If you just look around and speak to the inhabitants of heroin world there's a grim reality to be faced, a million miles from the joys of this song.

  • Trust me, theres nothing artsy about having an addiction.

But Hey. I could be wrong about this song. Its great no matter what its about.

  • wonderful song from a great song-writer.

  • Their most sublime song? Gorgeous.

  • definitely not juliana in the video..that is her voice tho...

  • it doesnt look like juliana, i miss her so much, i want her to be famous again, both of them :) those where the days

  • A classic

  • I absolutely love this song. Thanx for posting.

  • one of "those songs" for my wife and I...

  • Cool , good to hear some good music again..

  • love this soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much love it its the best

  • Evan... wow. Always that sensitive. Thanx!!
