I bought this concert on tape when I was 19yrs old living in my first apartment...waaaaay before youtube! How nice after all these years to be able to find this wonderful concert and watch them perform the songs I've loved for so long! Thank you!! :)
I just want to say thank you so much for this upload. I would give anything to see them live! But this video has brought me one step closer. Absolutely brilliant!!
YESSSS! Thanks for this upload.. This is so great to see and to also realise, in these days of so much electronic music, how just two guys can 'move' an audience with their beautiful songs and voices.
@sandyzmz Art must watch Paul so that he can sing the words EXACTLY at the same time. Part of their charm as a duo has been that they are very, very precise. All the "t's" and "p's" and "S's" have to come at the same time, if possible. Live is different from the recording studio ---- but they do their best --- and it's really SUPER!
@JanetWilliams01 oh yes I am so in love with them, they are just superb. I admire Paul even more so. But Art is so adorable, and he has more stage presence. Best duo ever, according to me
I saw them perform in Rotterdam in 1983 and the recording of this event in Central Park was turnin' grey on my pick-up. Later I bought the cd and now we have You Tube!!!!
It was really nice of Paul Simon to give his friend and favorite back up singer equal billing for all of those years. Notice how he says, " a poet and a ONE MAN BAND" in Homeward Bound.
@fozfozwald Paul wrote this song when he and Art were not really working together, long before their first major hit, Sound of Silence. Art was, I believe, in graduate school at that time, working on his Master's in Mathematics, which he did complete. Paul was traveling and singing and writing songs in the UK. Paul wrote this song up near Liverpool, thinking of his British girlfriend. Later, when Sound of Silence took off in the States, Paul came home -- and the rest is history.
Thank you for placing this. Years and years i listened to Simon and Garfunkel at Central Park in my bed before sleaping. It is so nostalgik for me. It is so good. I love them. Excuse my English, i´m a frensh speaking Belgium living now in the Nehterlands.
Paraphrasing my favorite bit: "... a group of people who have donated half of their proceeds that they're making tonight, the guys who are selling loose joints, are giving half of their income to the city tonight." Great joke. When I heard it as a kid, I had no idea what a joint was. I remember puzzling over that.
This reminds me of how much i miss my friend Nancy Cochran. She and i would cut school and hide in a irrigation pipe and sing S & G until we were hoarse ! For a 14 year old, S & G spoke truth that only we could hear. Nancy where are you? Bass...Bass...Basss
i keep watching this vid over and over again and feel so blessed to be able to watch this. Everything is so good here, the performance is out of this world. Thanks again krulu06, we are so grateful to you for uploading the 3 parts, hope we will be able to watch the part 4 that has been blocked. greetings
Krulu06...I am so indebted to you for uploading this one. All my life I had listened to these cassette tapes and CDs. Didnt knkow this was on the Y-tube.
WOW Just found this, captivated, thank you.. shame Paul Simon relegated to a minor act at Glastonbury, embarrassing really.. thank you for this upload, historical concert, wonderful, wonderful stuff. - ok now they are playing Homeward Bound - who knows this was written when PS was on a tour of England, and at a bleak northern station.
And the power of the Boxer - lie da lie, full of punches and frustration, brilliant
Real SUPER concert, never knew this was on youtube. Thanks krulu06 for uploading. Marvellous, Fabulous, no words to describe. What a marvellous thing to be able to watch the concert after a lapse of 30 years!!! Luv them both, they are so cute. Greetings from sri lanka
I know that these boys have had issues but this reunion concert was one of the most important ever! and I thank them both for putting their differences aside to make this concert happen. Still, be careful his bow tie is really a camera!!!
i love this concert and wish i was alive to witness it in person...

Like the rooftop set. This is all pre video and moving lights use in scenery, and it's refreshing.

Why is Art staring at Paul that way while they are singing Me and Julio...
sandyzmz 3 weeks ago
@sandyzmz Probably because he's taking his vocal timing off him.

@johnnyatab Could be, don't know... But his playing and singing was just too impeccable for being stoned...

I love the rhythm that Ed Koch uses. I really love the timbre of his voice when he says Garfunkel
