This song is for Hansen. Sure, Deris is not a bad singer, neither is Hansen (one of my favourite composers ever), but it can´t be sung as as well as Kai.

Kai can't sing it well as he sung it before. I think no one can, studio version was godlike. But I love this Deris version still. It got heart, got emotions, and got awesome vocals :) Maybe it isn't done as well as in Walls Of Jericho in 1985, but still its amazing. If to compare 2010 Gamma Ray - Ride The Sky and 2010 Helloween - Ride The Sky, Helloween win without problems for me.

@OathBird Of course, NOWADAYS, but talking about their "golden age", Kai sings THIS SONG much better. The studio version is pretty bad, though I love it.

Yeah in "Golden Age" sure he is. I said it was really godlike. Studio is almost the best version, besides one (Gamma Ray in 1990) Where he sung with hitting all notes specially the "Break out" one that I love and makes me chill. And his so fucking high clean voice... it's just amazing =]

@OathBird Kiske´s voice is much better than Kai´s. But as a composer, Hansen is the father of European Power Metal, took the concept to another level. Land of the Free is a glorious album.

TBH I prefer much Hansen graspy voice over Kiske's much. and if its about same voice, not technique Hansen have better voice, that fit so perfect in metal music. He is godfather of power metal :)

@OathBird Me too, and it fits. He is the father of EUROPEAN Power Metal. Walls of Jericho is influenced by US Power Metal, though it´s mostly Speed Metal.

Walls of Jericho mostly reminds me of Metallica and more like trash metal bands not power. After WOJ I think america started to do that kind of heavy stuff :)

@OathBird Not really, Ample Destruction from Jag Panzer was released in 1984, officially, the 1st US Power Metal album.

WoJ is more Speed than US Power. I don´t see any Thrash, sure, is fast as hell, but it´s not as aggressive as the German Thrash, or even the Bay Area Thrash.

Ok didn't know about that album, Helloween WoJ was always first for me. I mean a little bit of US trash. You know it reminds me a little bit of Metallica first albums or Slayer (maybe little bit less aggresive than second band)

Helloween rocks but this song belongs to hansen no matter they got rights or something i mean, he sing it much better. Well but its out the usual seeing deris sing this one :) At last with that they can play something from their first album.
