It got thumbs up because they keep teetering and swaying and ALMOST falling but never actually fall. This is probably related to something I learned in design class-

A object that ALMOST touches the edges of a picture is aggravating to the eye- it should either touch, or not be close at all. It's like when children ALMOST touch, but say "I'm not touching you!". You can feel it, but not really, and that's just horrible. Similarly, those kids should either fall or skate perfectly.
