Nice catch. A lot of pilot usually do a "pitch pump" to double check. A few pilots(myself) always fly idle-up.
However, take proper precautions(soft start, 2nd throttle hold switch, start with mid stick). Once, you do 3d all the time it makes sense. Trying to fly at normal and then idle-up "feels" like flying two different helis. Also, I don't even need my expo/rate/gyro gain toggles, anymore. One heli. One feel. Simpler to master.
