I have great memories from this game, I played this when I was 8 or so when I was still seeing my father, and I remeber I had Omni Slash and beated Emerald and Ruby :) Not sure about other weapons because I can't really remember them. I am definitely going to buy this game on eBay or something, it's so worth it.

If you're good, in the last fight you should time the wheel and get the "All materia broken" handicap...it's worth 10000 GP!

A Ribbon has a big advantage over the Hades-AE Armor combo. First, only one handicap can nullify it, while the combo can be nullifies by three. To widen the gap, the single materia breakers are more frequent than the accessory breaker.

I think it has something to do with how difficult your battles were. basically how severe the handicaps became. The more severe they become the more battle points you obtain after victory. e.g. - All materia and items OFF and being turned into a frog by the time you fight the 8th monster. I'm sure thats how the battle point thing works. I could be wrong.

random monsters give random ammounts of bp, the handicaps you get also increase the ammount of bp you get... so if you get all of your materia broken, equipment broken, and your small at the end of a battle, its possible to get like... upwards of 50,000 at the end.

If you get mostly status effects (that are negated by the ribbon anyways) and then the All Materia Broken....there's no reason you shouldn't walk away with 12,000 BP in most fights. After you get Omnislash, just get his limit gauge filled again and do the same thing till you can buy the W-Summon materia...with both, you'll unlock the special battle. Win the special battle and you'll get the Final Attack materia. Mastered Final Attack + Mastered Phoenix = You will never lose

(when there IS a choice that is) Go for the status effects like frog, mini, and poison, while avoiding any command blocking handicaps if at all possible. You definitely want to avoid the Accessory Break too. Before the final round of the battle there should be an All Materia Broken handicap, you want this handicap because even though you won't be able to mime anymore, with the Ultima Weapon it shouldn't take more than a few hits to win anyways.

There is a much easier way to do this. Go in with Cloud equipped with his limit gauge full and a ribbon to negate all status effects. All you really need to have equipped is the Mime materia and the ultima weapon. As soon as the battle starts use his Finishing Touch limit break. Make sure he has no Counter abilities equipped. For the slots, if you rapidly press the square button you can actually slow them down and with a little practice you can actually choose the slots you get.

I should probably mention that you should use the Limit Break first thing, and then do nothing but Mime it over and over again. Most enemies with be killed instantly, the others will take 3 at the most.

You quit too early that's why. You need to go through all of the rounds in an attempt to even get a reasonable amount of battle points in the first place.

well...that's possible too but I've never managed to hit all lucky 7's on those slots. Maybe you shouldn't. You get more points for hurting yourself with the handicaps anyway. (yes nuking all of your materia gives the biggest bonus.)

@Nickthelich "Shadow Flare" you get from the "Ultima Weapon" bonus boss at the near end of the game.... "Aqualung," can be gotten from the second Jenova battle (Jenova Life), but I hope you can get "Aqualung" somewhere else to, otherwise I missed out.....

You get it from ultimate weapon , he casts it on the person who gets the killing blow on him, then you will get the shadow flare, BUT it probably kills your ally since it takes about 9k damage on you lol

There's monsters on the beaches near costa del sol that have them. They might be on beaches near junon too. I think they were called "beach plugs". But you must manipulate them and make them cast it on a party member.

The handicaps you trigger are a factor on how many battle points you will end up with. Usually the more debilitated you are the more points you get.

Usually you can get the most battle points if all of your materia gets shattered and amongst other hinderments but...you're going to be left with whatever armor is working and item commands for offense. Trying to make things impossible for more battle points is not a good idea. You want to keep your rate of winning as high as you can.

Shadow flare is from Ultima Weapon. The master materias come from the old man that you have to turn in the earth harp to after you beat emerald weapon.

Master Tonberries are found in the northern cave.

A w-summon, if I'm not mistaken, is the most expensive prize in the battle arena at the gold saucer. It's twice the price of Omnislash. Plus you are only getting one.

Ummm Yes and no.

You lose all possible battle points that you would've gotten on your attempt but if you still had battle points that you won from a previous attempt you still keep those.

Of course if you leave the battle arena you lose ALL of your battle points. So don't leave unless you are sure you want to.

I already suggested status affect + hades on your armor. The rest is up to overwhelming firepower. i.e. bahamut summons, ultima, comet, containment magic.

Having the final weapons helps a lot too. If you set them up right.

Magic pots in the northern cave. Keep in mind you need elixirs for kill them. You can steal elixirs from Master Tonberries and the ponies. (I forget their name.) Both of which are in the northern cave too.

If you need lots of ability points the movers are great to kill too. They are in the same chamber that has magic pots too.

lvl 53 is good. Just be prepared for elemental defence against earth. and have your e skills ready when he gets to cosmo canyon.

The secret forest.

You can access it with a mountain chocobo on disc 2 or you can wait until after diamond weapon to kill ultima weapon. When you kill ultima weapon he crashes into the hillside creating a ramp you can use to walk to it normally. The secret forest is in the cosmo canyon area.

It depends on how well you do. On average 3-4 rounds if you can clean sweep all of the matches in each round. Also the degree of handicaps has an effect too. For example if you get too many lucky sevens or cures as a reward you get less battle points.

I don't remember but when using ultima weapon you have to have like over 8000 hitpoints in order to hit like that. That plus all the materia hurting his strength is why I'm not doing as much damage as you are expecting.
