@WheresMyElefant The big picture is that, through out history, the material (read economical) foundations for social groups, sets people in different positions (classes) in our society systematically. In order for a certain group to gain profit, they need to control the masses through material exchange - salary. The consequence is that the upperclass always needs to be a minority in order to achieve its selfish goals, this alienates the workers from their own production. (cont)

@WheresMyElefant Further on, Marx' sees this as a historical pattern in which the secondhand citizens gets alienated by the interest of the upperclass, that in turn moralizes their own position through religion, ethnicity, sex, capital etc. This automatically tears a rift between people, due the fundamental thesis that wealth cannot exist without poverty. This conflict has always been, according to Marx, generally what pushes history forwards. So yes, your comment is correct.

Very well done. Dialectical Materialism is not an intuitive concept and you illustrated it as well as I have seen it done! Sadly, it's clear that a large number of the comments come from people who have never studied Marx's work, and therefor can't appreciate yours. Marx is worth studying, regardless of your own ideology. His ideas continue to influence some of the most prominent philosophers alive today (i.e. Habermas), and nearly all of his criticisms of capitalism have been borne out.

No. Keynes, reviewed the criticisms Marx made of the capitalist system and recognised how government can intervene in, and prevent the cycle of economic crisis. The solutions that both Marx and Keynes proposed, came from the same theoretical conclusions. Nice video. Nonetheless, Marx never really wrote a sentence about the so called "dialectical materialism". To be true, Marx has never to do with it. Dialectical materialism is a poor, Hegelianish pseudo-science which originated from the highly misleading Engel's late writings, notably "The Dialectics of Nature" and "Antiduhring", than re-worked by Plechanov, Lenin and finally Stalin. Read "Marxism and Hegel" by Lucio Colletti, NLB, 1979.

marx only abstract the analytical categories. in capital vol 1, he did not describe the "development" in such a way that he moved from one stage to other. what was important was the analysis of capitalist society and mode of production. developmentalism is racist. it is a way for the bourgeosies to divde the workers into "different races" one being developed in the past and the other in modernity. to think there is a development is wrong to begin with. manifesto had some serious problems
