The way to Marx is through Hegel unfortunately for nearly everyone Hegel is far to difficult to read not that Marx is any easier. He'll be misunderstood for eons and people will be taking his anme in vain for longer.
So can someone tell me if I am getting this right... Basically the big picture is that every economical order gets to its best state while at the same time creating its flaws that will lead to its failure?
@WheresMyElefant The big picture is that, through out history, the material (read economical) foundations for social groups, sets people in different positions (classes) in our society systematically. In order for a certain group to gain profit, they need to control the masses through material exchange - salary. The consequence is that the upperclass always needs to be a minority in order to achieve its selfish goals, this alienates the workers from their own production. (cont)
@WheresMyElefant Further on, Marx' sees this as a historical pattern in which the secondhand citizens gets alienated by the interest of the upperclass, that in turn moralizes their own position through religion, ethnicity, sex, capital etc. This automatically tears a rift between people, due the fundamental thesis that wealth cannot exist without poverty. This conflict has always been, according to Marx, generally what pushes history forwards. So yes, your comment is correct.
Very well done. Dialectical Materialism is not an intuitive concept and you illustrated it as well as I have seen it done! Sadly, it's clear that a large number of the comments come from people who have never studied Marx's work, and therefor can't appreciate yours. Marx is worth studying, regardless of your own ideology. His ideas continue to influence some of the most prominent philosophers alive today (i.e. Habermas), and nearly all of his criticisms of capitalism have been borne out.

@BrettDunbar You can read dailectical materialism without the politics, it works in all forms of science as Engels shows in his book, The Dialectics of Nature
Communists, altho atheists, still observe two sacred traditions: one is to live in non-communist countries, usually the US, because who in their right mind would want to experience the deprivations of communism. The other is to explain the repeated failures of communist regimes, specifically the collapse of the Soviet Union, by saying "Well, they weren't really communist after all". Pete Seeger observes both.
The big problem inherent in the Keynesian economics theory is that Governments, because they are beholden to no one ultimately, can print money forever and thus, without consequences to those they are supposed to serve, spend their way out of debt. What finally results are those the Government is supposed to serve lose their individual liberty due to the work required for paying their taxes. Finally they become the slaves of a Government totalitarian State.
marx was a genius, his analasis (i know dialectic not analasis (bloody marxist pedants)) anyway his analasis of capitalism and te human condition in relation to it is extrodinary and anyone wanting to understand the world needs to study marx, his solutions are (like freidman's) just wrong and have been imprically proven to be so, kaynes has shown us how capitalism should work, but to understand the problems marx is your go to economist/philosipher/genuis
@rictorn Keynes showed us "how capitalism should work"? No. Keynes, reviewed the criticisms Marx made of the capitalist system and recognised how government can intervene in, and prevent the cycle of economic crisis. The solutions that both Marx and Keynes proposed, came from the same theoretical conclusions. However, it was Marx who recognised the the laws of negation will inevitably lead to the private properties destruction and replacement with its opposite- social property.
Nice video. Nonetheless, Marx never really wrote a sentence about the so called "dialectical materialism". To be true, Marx has never to do with it. Dialectical materialism is a poor, Hegelianish pseudo-science which originated from the highly misleading Engel's late writings, notably "The Dialectics of Nature" and "Antiduhring", than re-worked by Plechanov, Lenin and finally Stalin. Read "Marxism and Hegel" by Lucio Colletti, NLB, 1979.
@LIVERLADD I know what you mean, usually they just let atheists corpses rot out in the open. If you don't believe in god your corpse shouldn't be hygienically disposed of.

Marxism is arcane, 19th century theoretical mumbo-jumbo. Many on the right (and I say this as an American conservative) crassly characterize it garden-variety socialism or progressivism. In this country you constantly hear Obama referred to as a Marxist. Pure Marxism called for the eradication of ALL CENTRAL GOVT folks!
@spacecowboynj You don't have to be a full marxist, he made a lot more sense than the conservative 'keep the rich richer and the poor poorer' ideal. Calling Obama a Marxist is just the far rights way of laughing at him. It's sad.
@spacecowboynj amercian conservative? so you not only dislike but blame babies for being born into poverty, dislike gays, dislike women, dislike ethinic minorities, dislike the state, but kinda love state (police state), dislike change, dislike public services and do not acknowlege any structural disadvantages that are linked to class and capitalism in any way?
pretty backward ideology you have internalised. Thats CNN and FOX for you I guess, may I introduce you to the 21st century?
@Kunguskang Blame the people for staying in poverty and not being made uncomfortable for a failure to lift themselves out, gay is confusion, women are cool, America is immigrants, the State sucks for it isn't our Constitutional republic, despise police state, I love when people change their hearts to learn faith/hope/charity, I don't need a cop because I carry a firearm, class is a result of class thinking and attitudes thanks to things like the TV and the problem with Capital is the FED!
@Glenn666 LOOK at inequality! LOOK at people BORN into poverty. This is NOT their FAULT. The so called "freedom" that capitalism gives is freedom to be poor, the "free" market that hayek and nosick talk about is full of monoplies, corporations and corruption. Wars, stress and hatred are a result of competitive markets. If people are gay, they are not confused, it is natural. Why have firearms? Where is the freedom FROM poverty, from disadvantage. The state needs to intervene to help the poor.
@Glenn666 Is that all you have to say?? You clearly can not give valid justified arguements to defend your right wing, misinformed, deluded ideology.
Read any literature surrounding poverty that isnt funded by private corporate monoplies that benefit from poverty. Conservativism is the enemy of the people. All people have the right to live, your ideology simply keeps the power poorly distributed. Stop hitting on the poor, question media that blames those in poverty. Question, dont just insult.
@Kunguskang I'm not CONSERVATIVE, stop labeling me you dipshit, you can't stop insulting can you? I'm a Ben Franklin and Sam Adams loving AMERICAN. Faith and Charity(love in biblical terms, literally) is MY LIFE, thanks be to God.
@Kunguskang I've looked at it which solves nothing because looking is just that. Giving is what lifts, not stealing under the false pretense of "collective welfare." Wars, stress and hatred is a result of wrong thinking in the society as a whole which has nothing to with politics, but attitudes in the literal meaning. The state has no authority to claim the role of God whereas Hitler, Mao and Kim Jong funtion as that in socialist states.
@Glenn666 Do not think I am aganist charities. Chartities do great things for people. You claim that taxes from the state is "stealing" that it takes away your "liberty" and voluntary chartity donations should be the only form of help for the poor because it is the only voluntary or uncoerced form? I disagree. The poor do not have liberty, freedom to exercise the same rights as those more well off. The state should have a role in defending their (meaning most people) interests. These taxes CONT
@Kunguskang I don't want half my wealth going to a broken system you idiot!! I give and earn what I can, but you think killing the rich saves us. In case you haven't noticed, the richest two percent of the World, can't even cover our Nation's debt.
@Glenn666 Not need to insult Glenn. It makes you look weak and looks as if you have no real argument so just retire to abuse. What are you saying? If you tax the richest 10% by 5% the nation debt of UK will be removed. I dont know where you are getting your statistics from Glenn, probably right wing media with an agenda to prevent people i,e you from knowing the real wealth they are making!
I assume your american. And thus yes, same arugemetn applies, tax the wealhest for debt reduction.
@Glenn666 What? You just criticised the idea of taxing the rich because it might no pay back the debts, when I said thats wrong and in fact the right tax on the rich would easily suffice you claim that there is no point in wiping debt? Hmmm..,.. Not really sure what your arguement is there Glenn. My point is tax on rich would suffice the debt, and thus save public service cutts
@Kunguskang If your monetary has system has a dollar in circulation your in debt. Money = Debt when your paying interest towards a central bank, therefore, if all the debts were paid you would have no money in the World.
@Kunguskang The debt in the UK is over 100% of their GDP, they are fucked just like the rest of us. More socialism does not help anybody, but those profit hungry corporations that want to control your Life, socialism comes with strings attached or a barrel of a gun, there has not been a case in the World where that is not so.
@Glenn666 CONTINUED: These taxes should not tax those on modest incomes it should come progressively from the rich, from corporations and taxes on banks levies and transactions. The state can progressively collect millions to invest in educaiton, housing and health that would lift millions out of poverty. This would benefit all citizens. More unequal societies have higher mental illness, homicides, teenage pregnancies, obesity, stress, infant mortality along with loads of other social problems.
@Glenn666 Also, Hitler is a facist. Facism is opposite of socialism . Fascism was bulid on discrimination and murder. Socialism seeks to free people from poverty, inequality, give ordinary citizens the liberty to be free from poverty and have free access to valuable resoucces that in more unequal societies only the rich would. Mao, Stalin and Kim Jong are also not the socialism that I believe in. They were dictatroships. Socialism stands on values of democracy, freedom, equality and fraternity.
@Kunguskang Hitler was a "National Socialist." Democracy sucks, look at history for that my gosh. Citizens can only lift themselves out because history again shows that free stuff leads to dependance and then poverty, but comfortably. You can't name a successful socialist, state capitalist or facist because they kill there own people in the name of the collective!
@Glenn666 You really think Hitler was a socialist? He used socailist means i.e. bread and work for the poor in his manifesto to get in. But facism is the opposite of socialism. What freedom, equality, fratnerity did nazi germany bring? It was more capitalist with its wholly rejection of the needs of minortiies. Cuba, although polticailly not socialist (due to freedom of speech infringements) has got simular life expenpency to US EVEN though relatively very poor. This is due to socialist care.
@Kunguskang Yeah that's why Cubans face death coming to the United States in shark infested waters by inflatable raft, its because their healthcare and socialism is so great. You still don't understand why democracy fails do you? Do you not realize how ignorant people are and yet your calling me the insulter! You look weak when you state half-truthes under the guise of being a sweet and compassionate socialist. Nevermind Castro planting hundreds of explosives in train stations
@Glenn666 Are you talking about ideology or reality? Do you not know that cuba is relatively
POOR compared to the US? Average life expectancy being simular is big! I am not saying Cuba is socialist as I have said, Cuba does not have good freedom of speech and therefore is not socialist. You keep citing extremes such as facism or Castro. These are not socialist. Why cant you accept the market does not suffice? And there is a place for state intervention? Universal healthcare would be a start.
@Kunguskang Castro was the first Socialist country in the West, sorry it isn't up to your high socialist track record where 100 million people have been killed trying to make Utopias of free everything around the World. The market can work when there is no central bank and the governments allowed for free competition which China does better than the USA(Mass/Cali are more communist than China lol).
@Glenn666 Cuba wasn't the first socialist country in the west . Revolutionary France was. Anyway, what your talking about; the liberalisation of competition and free trade- is aknowledged by Marx as an imperative for a true communist society to exist- "Worker's of the WORLD unite."
@Glenn666 No. The reason why they risk shark infested waters in inflatable rafts is because they are suffering a food crisis due to a continued US embargo.
@Glenn666 CONSERVATIVES such as you hate on the poor, on ethnic minorities, gays, women, this is not "bitching" it is challenging injustice.
Look BEYOND the church and the rich to acknowledge people are different and that is OK. The problem = discriminating against these differences. The state needs to HELP people out of poverty. Create opportunities and stop bribing the rich to stay and coercing the poor into work. Its better for the economy if society is more fair and equal.
@Glenn666 The Individual is the only person that matters in Constitutional, Republican government for it is so limited that all the compassionate persons, like yourself, have the actual Freedom and Empowerment from God to LIFT out of poverty, not HAND out of poverty.
@spacecowboynj 19th century theoretical mumbo-jumbo? The theory of class conflict today is as relevant as it always was. We do not dismiss Newtons laws of gravity as arcane simply because they were written 200 years ago. Marx laid the ground work for analysis and criticism of the capitalist society; giving us a scientific and materialist basis of study.
"...where the Marxist ideology of liberation had been consistently applied, a total lack of freedom had developed, whose horrors were now laid bare before the eyes of the entire world. Wherever politics tries to be redemptive, it is promising too much. Where it wishes to do the work of God, it becomes not divine, but demonic." Pope Benedict XVI
Fuck Marx and his twisted brain! if I could Kill every ignorant primate that aspires to his ignorant spew I would gladley give my life! Burn in hell you insideous bastard!
marx rejected evolutionary theory at the end of his life. he wrote to the russian and saying that you don't need to destroy the peasant commune to have a socialist revolution. in fact, the peasants would lead to socialism even faster. this was also true in china. the coastal areas were not the fighting terrains. the country sides were.
the greatest of all Einstein, an ameturish mathmatecian clerk...was travelling in a tramcar when he pulled out his pocket watch to correct his time with the townhall clock - he could see looming large - add to that the dopler effect of pedestrians the tramcar was passing...he in that split second of existence wondered "is time on this moving body the same as the time on the townhall clock out there". He spent the rest of days proving the mathmatical equastion for its realisation.
This is easily seen in all the great inventions of our existance. Stephenson saw the idea of steam as an energy/propulsion force from a kettle boiling...Newton got the idea of universal gravity from a hit on the head from an apple and
Marx never coined the phrase dialectical materialism, although he(a student of Hegel) first took the dialectic of Hegel and combined it with his "Historical materialistic conception of history"...u have an amateurish explanation of engels anti-duhring. Marx's thinking was that hegel was an Idealist (thoughts are primary) his correct thesis is that ideas come from the real world. So what is u see is it.
...use this opposition to their development by rising up against it (through anti-thesis to reach synthesis) and the process repeats itself through history.
Pretty much, he thought that after the clash of the 'proletariat' and the 'bourgeoisie' that there would not be another class division, that we move toward socialism and eventually communism. Kinda goes against the dialectic in a way, wheres our opposite to further our development? Serious ponderment, :)
marx only abstract the analytical categories. in capital vol 1, he did not describe the "development" in such a way that he moved from one stage to other. what was important was the analysis of capitalist society and mode of production. developmentalism is racist. it is a way for the bourgeosies to divde the workers into "different races" one being developed in the past and the other in modernity. to think there is a development is wrong to begin with. manifesto had some serious problems
Explained what I've been reading... the thesis/anti-thesis/synthesis, present in Hegel's ideas also. He then views history in economic terms (from the standpoint that material needs define our consciousness as opposed to Hegel thinking our ideas define consciousness/existence/reality) and asserts politics and the state are subordinate or working for the higher economic class. This is the opposition to the class beneath (the worker) and they then...
yeh I know its quite dificult to understand but I think it looks good visualy (exept for 2 shots with sand on the lens ...) and its all worth it to see sean spining hapily at the end! haha
Hi Martin, you should try to re-sentence the text by telling each of them in your own words, thus really meditating each meaning and transforming into different words. Now most of the text is direct copying of textbooks.

@Kunguskang May I introduce you back to reality? Your bitching about Life and the Fed, educate yourself and stop having an attitude problem
Glenn666 1 year ago
@Glenn666 CONSERVATIVES such as you hate on the poor, on ethnic minorities, gays, women, this is not "bitching" it is challenging injustice.
Look BEYOND the church and the rich to acknowledge people are different and that is OK. The problem = discriminating against these differences. The state needs to HELP people out of poverty. Create opportunities and stop bribing the rich to stay and coercing the poor into work. Its better for the economy if society is more fair and equal.
Kunguskang 1 year ago
@Kunguskang The rich runs the state that holds the poor down. I wish life was fair, but it ain't. Only the individuals change.
Glenn666 1 year ago
@Glenn666 The rich runs the market. Monopolies dominate the market Glenn. Open your eyes.

@Kunguskang The richest man is the one who gives away the easiest. How much money, besides getting raped by taxes, do you give?
Glenn666 1 year ago

"The classes and the races too weak to master the new conditions of life must give way They must perish in the revolutionary holocaust" - Karl Marx
jowns0 2 years ago
marx rejected evolutionary theory at the end of his life. he wrote to the russian and saying that you don't need to destroy the peasant commune to have a socialist revolution. in fact, the peasants would lead to socialism even faster. this was also true in china. the coastal areas were not the fighting terrains. the country sides were.
kantimmanuel05 2 years ago
@jowns0 Marx never said that. It's two quotes, one by Engels and one by Marx, taken out of context, and put together.

the greatest of all Einstein, an ameturish mathmatecian clerk...was travelling in a tramcar when he pulled out his pocket watch to correct his time with the townhall clock - he could see looming large - add to that the dopler effect of pedestrians the tramcar was passing...he in that split second of existence wondered "is time on this moving body the same as the time on the townhall clock out there".

Until there are no classes.
Mabuza14 2 years ago
Pretty much, he thought that after the clash of the 'proletariat' and the 'bourgeoisie' that there would not be another class division, that we move toward socialism and eventually communism. Kinda goes against the dialectic in a way, wheres our opposite to further our development? Serious ponderment, :)
Roadmincer 2 years ago
If you'd ask Marx that was the furthest development in this area. Marx said communism was the answer to the riddle of society.
Mabuza14 2 years ago
Yeah, kinda anticlimatic in a way, lol. 'Ya tell me all this and then... *BLIP' adrift in theoretical wilderness... ;)
Still, theres als others to check out, love it, :)

marx only abstract the analytical categories. in capital vol 1, he did not describe the "development" in such a way that he moved from one stage to other. what was important was the analysis of capitalist society and mode of production. developmentalism is racist. it is a way for the bourgeosies to divde the workers into "different races" one being developed in the past and the other in modernity. to think there is a development is wrong to begin with. manifesto had some serious problems
kantimmanuel05 2 years ago
Explained what I've been reading... the thesis/anti-thesis/synthesis, present in Hegel's ideas also. He then views history in economic terms (from the standpoint that material needs define our consciousness as opposed to Hegel thinking our ideas define consciousness/existence/reality) and asserts politics and the state are subordinate or working for the higher economic class. This is the opposition to the class beneath (the worker) and they then...

Hi Martin, you should try to re-sentence the text by telling each of them in your own words, thus really meditating each meaning and transforming into different words. Now most of the text is direct copying of textbooks.
