  • The Goldman Sachs theme song!

  • A great post punk 80s band that you may of heard of ~ or maybe not, till now....

  • Awesome! It's on one of my tapes from KFJC (Los Altos Hills) by the ultimate (80's) DJ, Winston Q. This tape includes Quiet Girl by the Skunks and Babies in Convent Walls by Claude Coma and the IV's. Always a crowd favorite!

  • Another lost classic from a the New Wave early 80's.

  • it's the dude from the movie called Equilibrium )

  • We should start a Monochrome Set cult, let's not wait they're all dead ! After all everyone owes them something.

  • Supercool!!

  • just when your soul feels empty.......here comes the Jet Set Junta! :)

  • Just sheer class in all aspects of the word Class. The Monochrome Set don't do "Carling" but if they did..........

  • one of our favorite songs of the 80's !!

  • one of our favorite songs of the 80's !!

  • Supporting these on the 16th of July... Can't wait

  • Love the decadently vicious lyrics.

  • One of the best bands ever, no doubt!

  • I tried to make my hair look like that c. 86 or so. It didn't work.

  • Very strange that this lot didn't appear on Morrissey's "Under the Influence" compilation. He took a lot of inspiration from this band I think.

  • Just announced for Primavera Sound 2011 in Barcelona. See you there!

  • Here you can see from where all these new Franz Ferdinand/Keiser Cheifs and bands like that took their music!

  • so good, so under-appreciated...

  • lick lar poncha train he aint heavy he my brother

  • おーっ!

    やっぱりいいねぇ(^_-)-☆

    ひさしぶりに聴いたよ(^_-)-☆

  • Bid is GORGEOUS!!

  • Looks like the Set that was after Lester and JD left - looks like Foz on guitar, Carrie Weslowski on tambourine and her brother on drums. No idea where Andy Warren is though.

  • its uncle fester look at his cock

  • Are these the band members? the guy that sings doesn't look much like Bid, and the guitarist is definitely not Lester

  • That is Bid,no Lester,Andy Warren or JD Haney though.

  • Its definitely Bid

  • Ahhhhh - this just reminds of why I loved them so much (and still do!) and Bid....well what can I say...takes my breath away in this :o)

  • Crazy BABY!

  • sounds like 70s, although it is on 80s..........

  • @theclashmaster1991 That's a classic mid 60's sound, not 70's at all....

  • probably the funniest and most ,spot on song the "set "ever wrote ,inspired genius no less

  • Is this the inspiration for Mike Myer's "Shprokets" on SNL? :-) (Just kidding folks -- I love TMS)

  • great band.

  • best video ever???oh yes....

  • A lesson in how to make a cool video.

  • This video is the essence of cool. The fact that Bid decided to kneel on one leg while playing the guitar puts him way ahead of everyone in terms of aesthetic moods. And of course his lyrics are masterful and literary while never sacrificing the pure craft of the pop song.

  • Havent heard this for simply years! Still a top tune. Why werent they more sucessful??

  • beautiful .. i seen them about 25 years ago in a concert in roth fabrik in zurich

  • I am in love with Bid. Truly in love!

  • I remember my father playing this in our old house in Holland - thankyou so much for posting! And my... that Bid is a terribly handsome young man.

  • Class track. One of the best bands ever as far as i am concerned.

  • Great stuff, even after erm... so many years

  • Anyone found the mating game yet??

  • Catchy little tune

  • I love the girl on the right... bang that tamborine lady!!

  • I know Juilliard when I see it....

  • Hee!

  • Christ! Where does the time go? I just looked at the cover of "Strange Boutique" - i'd forgotten that it was released in 1980!

    Still sounds good.

  • Fuck me, the Monochrome Set are alive!! Great song and video!

  • mmm... i second that.

  • He's actually from India. But nice try.

    Go Bid Go! :-)

Love the melding of psychedelia and politics. Who says intellectuals are dry?

  • how i've missed the monochrome set...

  • Ain't they neat. Now you can see why one critic wrote, "The Monochrome Set's specialty is composing witty ditties for whistling milkmen."

  • I love this freaking song. It's so weird and catchy...

  • he says junta with a hard j - that is sooo cute!!!
