  • Jon Briggs?! Presumably he of Weakest Link fame. For years I've his voice on channel 4 clips, but never realised it was potentially him!

  • OMG I LOVED Star Test!

  • Wish we had these type of adverts like this donor card one. I actually watched one with Superted, a cartoon character from the 1980s (used to watch it on Children's BBC) telling us about road safety with his friends. Star Test, I think I used to watch it on Channel 4

  • This cant be from the early 80's. Its talking about the poll tax. Introduced in the late 80's and ealry 90's

  • Robin's established the transmission date.

We're discussing when the PIF was made.

  • Ah I see, apologies.

  • No sweat. Cheers for viewing.

  • Anytime. I think channel 4 was at its best in the 80's. Up until the late 90's. Now its full of Gordon Ramsey, Big Bro(Please no more) and crap like skins lol

  • The voiceover on the PIF is Keith Barron, and in my opinion it dates from roughly 1978 or 1979.

  • This has to be Wednesday 23rd May 1990, early hours of Thursday 24th May.

  • and yes that was the voice of the weakest link jon briggs on the channel 4 closedown

  • I have a November 1985 Channel 4 close with - I'm pretty sure - the same Donor Card PIF. It would probably have been quite a few years old even then.

  • Period detail suggests it's between 1979 and 1982. Give or take...

The mother in the PIF also played the mother of a Grange Hill character in the late 80's (Laura Regan I think).

  • @SozLike The card itself is definitely well out of date by the time this was transmitted.
