  • Easier way: keep running until you can smell blood in your lungs and then take a break for 15 minutes and run again, before you do this I suggest keep on running before you get lactic acid in your muscles(the burning feeling).

    Never say you should or have to do it, say it in loud you WILL do it, I tried this and it helped me brush my teeth twice instead of 1 time a day, or just imagine something that forces you to do things, like people who were tortured...

  • @fishwish901 without any training 18:10 isn't bad. I could probably do a 2mile in about 19min when I was 11, but I was able to get my times below 16min from running 3miles a day for a season. I took over a year off from running, then I started running 5miles a day at an easy pace when I was 14; I got my times below 14min in a season. The good thing about endurance races is it's easy to improve your times if you train.

  • @fishwish901 18:10 is a great time for the 2 mile, especially if you've never run it before. The 2 mile is a very difficult race, especially for runners like me who run the 400m. Are you big or tall for you're age?? If you are you probably carry around a lot more extra weight than someone who is average or small. If you keep trying and push yourself you will run better every time. Take it from a 12 year old who trains 4 times a week and has been for a year and a half

  • The guaranteed way of improving your running times from marathon way down to say 5k or even the mile is to run interval training sessions on the track.

    An excellent one for spped endurance such as for 10ks is 12x400m with one minute recovery.

    Do a similar session for four to five months and your times will definately improve.

    Your oxygen uptake ie the ability to run a certain distance faster will certainly be a thing you will improve on if you do track intervals

  • Make sure you drink a caffeinated beverage before your race so you pass out half way there. Caffeine before race=no no, try carbs the night before a race instead.

  • @runwithkyrstin2002 Well for you age that is an amzing time! On my xc team our best girl runner runs like a 21 and she wins races! You are right on track. The best thing to do to improve it would be to go to your high schools xc course and run that as often as possible. Then run in as many local 5k's as you can. Thats what i did and it worked great. I'm a 9th grade boy and run a 18:30:)

  • @AZZAflipnote I allways got cramps too during my crosscountry from drinking lots of water right before I went on my run but today I had water a little bit each hour and when I did crosscountry no cramps and I did better than normal

  • @MultifunctionalMe dude, im in civil air patrol and i went to the arkansas wing encampment this summer. we would wake up at 5:00 and people would just start drinking water out of their camalbaks and half of us ended up puking every minute of our drill.

  • caffeinated is absolutely HORRIBLE for before running, it dehydrates you quickly, and has the crash and burn effect. it's like eating a lot of candy.

  • drinking a caffeinated beverage 30-60 minutes before a race is a good way to get a heart attack :) i would never drink caffeine before a race. 

  • Her form on everything needs help. Her knees drop in when she runs and does jumping jacks and her head drops down when doing pushups so I would advise her to do corrective exercises before she starts a heavy running program or else her knees, hips and ankles will be injury prone.

  • One guy in our JHS was always last in the 600 yd run but needed a certain time just to pass gym class. For final test he took a single amphetamine pill (20 minutes before the race.) He ended up finishing 35 yards in front of the class and broke the school record for fastest 600 yard time. He was ALWAYS last everytime he ran it. We were laughing our asses off. The gym teacher couldnt explain how the slowest guy in school broke the school record. Honest and true story. Amphetamines do work.
