I think the important differences between this and the album version are as follows. 1) Greg is playing a fretless bass, which has a markedly different sound. In fact, I think most if not all the Comfort-era songs were written with a fretless in mind. 2) The tempo is slightly slower to give it even more gloom. 3) Unlike the bare-bones studio version, this one has a lot of layers and effects.
@Ofecks always admired Greg's basswork on the demos, the fretless sound he went with was truly unique for the type of music Failure played at the time, but then he started to use it more like a guitar so it only made sense to switch to a fretted one. Anyway, as for the demo, you're right it has a bit more gloom to it, the solo in particular
@NearbyHermit Thanks! Thanks for not naming the obvious bands. I found out about Kyuss through the TOOL cover (my fav band) um Peach was a sick band but i just hate their singer hahah but sound wise it was sick. My friends music is very good, Since we like similiar music i thought u might want to check it out. Very Dark and moving, tell me what u think ( her covers r sick too)

Yeah Homme's pre-Queens band, never liked Queens much, but Kyuss was pretty cool

Kyuss rocks !
Demon Cleaner is an overlooked song !
Dark and Gloomy, just like failure !

that song is nothing like comfort-era failure, but I sort of see what you're implying

@sexymatlack Hey :D
Well, my advice is to try Juice.
Or try a nice underground band called Hiata.
My Beautiful Secret is a very similar band. I don't know, experiment, I'm currently into death metal .
Hope that helps you XD

@sexymatlack I was just about to suggest Tool too, but I knew you'd like them.
You should try the other 2 bands, APC and Puscifer, but I strongly suggest Puscifer.
Hmm, I checked out that music, it's not that bad, I'm 'diggin' it :D

@NearbyHermit Yeah i kno TOOL, Apc, and puscifer inside and out, their great. Which songs did u listen 2?

@sexymatlack Tool, I love Undertow until Lateralus, then 10.000 Days is awesome too !
From APC, I kinda like Mer De Noms and 13th Step, the last one is kinda bad :(
And from Puscifer , I like V and the song Rocketman is my favorite !
This kind of describes what I like from Maynard's work.
