  • This actually brought tears to my eyes. Love it, Roy!

  • Brilliant, Roy! What a truly *awesome* song!

  • Since he didn't translate the 2 lines, heres what I think they are...

    You can steal my TV!

You can kidnap president Obama & drag him off to some terrorist country! :D

    You can watch my TV!

You can incarcerate & gaurd him in a wasteland for all eternity! :D

    But it's still my TV!

But we never impeach or replace a president till next election. We can still write him. Tell him we voted 4him & when we presumably have the right to vote like he said, we can finally...unless4more :( Senseless

  • @Miracle490d Um, this is when Bush was still president (watch the beginning). This doesn't reflect his views on Obama at all.

  • Soooo inspired.....

  • All government is bad government.

  • @GuillotineSmirk Come on man. You can't be serious.

  • @HoGraz No not really, government presents hierarchy and that is wrong and unjust. Unless metaphysics are applied and it is a utopian world, all government is bad government.

  • @GuillotineSmirk

Move to Somalia and bask in the awesomeness that is government-less country.

  • @Kaderie That is Anarcho-Capitalism which is right wing Anarchy. I am proposing left wing Anarchy. There is a massive difference.

  • @GuillotineSmirk "Unless metaphysics are applied and it is a utopian world, all government is bad government. "

That makes absolutely no damn sense. If the world were uptopian, there would be no need for government. Government represents order, which is a force for good when it's used to suppress the less honourable human traits of greed and lust for power, the issue is not of any/no government, it's about effective, efficient governments.

  • Thanks you give me video

  • This guy could probably have written for Tool at some point and unless it was said so no one would ever know.

  • @SouseisekiFromCS

Err, before someone points it out, yes, I know that he hasn't actually written for Tool.

...or has he? DUN DUN DUN!

  • wtf

  • I never met-a-phor I did not like, & I like this one the

best. Deb, what do you think of our man Zimmerman?

  • He left out bad grammar, in the beginning.

  • ingenuous

  • Sad that this video has so few ratings =(

    Featured....not that it'll help...but meh.

  • right now we do not have a good presidents :( he is hurting me

  • A good presidents? You would rather have McCain? Dumbass

  • I put an s on the end lol I did not mean to do that but the one we have now will not help any of us anyway and the rather sad and for the most part damned republican party is not strong enough

  • Not strong ENOUGH??? What are you some freedom hating, bible bashing chauvinistic, racist snobby prick? You want more old deluded christians trying to rule the work?

  • christians are not rightists

that is a shaming thing I wont nothing to do with but just cuz I do not agree with the dems does not make me a snobby freedom hating prick.

  • Not all christian's are rightists who oppose civil rights, but many of the opinions that erode civil rights are touted as religious beliefs. For example most of the conservatives saying God is against Gay marriage or homosexuality at all.

At the moment, the best person in a position to run the country is Obama. He's not perfect, but he's lightyears ahead of the opposition.

You should put your effort into getting the current Gov't to do the right thng instead of wishing some1 else was Pres

  • we only have one president, and what's wrong with obama

  • hehehee, illö go c thx for support 1 time more..i just finded royz and did all in row.. just 1 thing.. why u ppls comment other ppls comment ? like who cares then comment ur comment. if its not urs video u must tolerate others wievs or u can DL and look it on solitare ..HF(Have Fun)

  • hahaha. i love the explanation...just telephoning it to the back row. :)

  • The way the founding fathers thought we'd eledted presidents was this. Every state would pick a favorite son, and the election would be decieded by the house of repersentivies. thye electoral collage was set up because they wanted educated people to pick the president. i think we all agree they were smart enough to choose our own president.

  • I'd like to amend your final statement:

"I think they agreed that we would be smart enough to choose out own president"

It's sad to think of how far we have devolved -_-

  • People are still crying about it cause it proves the system is still fucked up.

  • yes, and we will for the next hundred years fo in tell they get rid of the electorla vote system

  • What, that's what the founding fathers thought

  • They also thought that without the Electoral College, the highly populated areas would be the only ones to get any attention. New York and LA would be heavily campaigned in if we scrapped the EC. The rest of the Country, even cities like St. Louis or Minneapolis would be ignored because they're just too small to waste time in. With the EC, some guy in Delaware actually has a voice in the election. The EC is not perfect, but it beats the hell out of the alternative.

  • No they'll campain everywhere, and they wouldn't just focus on swing states. If we elected by popular vote only, the candidates would have to go everywhere to colect votes. They'd go to St. Louis and Minneapolis too. They'd go everywhere to get votes, not just swing states. Another problem is that wotes in wyoming count more than votes in California. Wyoming has 3 votes, and 450,000 people. that's 150,000 people per vote. California has 55 and 35 million people. That's 636,363 per vote.

  • Why is it that I would have never known about this genius if I hadn't accidentally stumbled onto "What If The Beatles Were Irish?" on YouTube?

  • This is one of my favorite songs of all time.

I'm sad to say that I didn't catch onto the metaphor at all in the beginning the first time I heard it. I thought it was poking fun at society's worshipping of the often mindless entertainment recieved through a television. Oops.

  • The right to vote... haha you have the right but someone has the option of counting it. Electoral college F345ed me twice.

  • Thanks for the song

  • This is one of his best songs

  • I agree. Roy's got a good repitoire of songs, but this one moves me the most. Unlike his other songs, this one always makes me feel a little sad at the end of it.

  • one of the best songs i ever heard,

  • Did Youtube disable the time jump thing? 3:47 should be in blue, and create a video jump...

  • Ya gotta get on Letterman Roy !!!!!!

  • Half through it, i was just about to click it away as some kind of american pop culture reference i wouldn't get anyway... but it was worth it, genius...

  • Yeah, I wondered what the hell he was on about but didn't click away because I was doing something else at the same time. I'm glad I didn't click away.

  • Yeah. I was about to post "how does this have anything to do with Bush?" half way through the video. Luckily I did not. I would have looked like a complete moron. LOL.

  • Yes, luckily your secret is still safe.

  • Yes. It would have been terrible if that slip up would have been brought to public attention.

  • excellent!

  • Genius.

  • Can't believe no one laughed when he said his t.v. had been there for 200 years. I laughed my ass off.

  • Hy guys why did he interpret inform in Lincoln ?

I come from Croatia, still learning about you' re politic system !

  • Probably because Lincoln had a higher opinion of the voters than most American politicians have had, and it seems like he usually let them in on what he was doing and why.

  • Loved 3:47. Never heard it encapsulated so well. And humorously!

  • I just found this guy, he is great!

  • roy zimmerman is the shit.

  • Correction: shiznit.

  • FUCK YEA. Here is a good American

  • i agree roy zimmerman is a patriot. he protests against what is wrong and that is patriotic. the founding fathers protested what was wrong and because of that our country is here today. God Bless America

  • you got some half-truths being perpetuated in that there comment. but those are hard to overcome for anyone so i can't knock you for it.

  • how about

    ROY ZIMMERMAN

    is a freakin GENIUS!

  • You are one fucking inspiring individual, my friend.

  • I just saw this guy last night in Arlington, TX. It was awesome.

Some drunk hick pulled out his guitar cord and tried to start a fight, too. :D

  • Wow. Was the idiot pissed about a particular song?

  • I gathered that he just thought we were god-hating traitors. Zimmerman sang a hymn to calm everyone down. Good times.

  • Wow...that makes RZ even more awesome in my eyes.

  • Screw Frampton, Colbert should have called on Zimmerman to be his guitar hero...

  • ... and outright fraud!

    Heh, he never gets old.

  • Your comic talent is always thoroughly entertaining.

  • Roy, your songs never cease to amaze me! Your lyrics are pure genius =D

  • great commentary, one of roy's best!

  • you haven't any idea how true this is for me.

    thank you.

  • We need a new freakin' TV! This one's busted.

  • woo

    good job roy

    i love your songs :)

  • Haha

  • Great song.

Loved the look when Roy says "Gerald Ford"

  • I wonder who Roy and his wife are voting for, lol. <3 lol I wonder if I'll get an answer.

  • Fantastic and done with feeling.

  • INCREDIBLY COOL!

  • ma' lyrical hero

  • Don't cry 'cause someone stole your old TV Roy, just go out to Walmart and pick up a new Samsung 27" LCD. At least you'll get a guarrantee.

  • So are you trying to say we should overthrow the government and replace it with one that has some sort of accountability catch that is strictly enforced rather than the lax one we have now, but is in overall inferior to every other government available due to bad construction?

    Wow man thats deep.

  • I was singing this song all day at work.... Awesome job, Roy.

  • always good

  • HAHA still awesome

  • This is the best one yet! Awesome.

  • Great work Roy!!

  • Cool song Roy! 5/5

  • This (the music video I've just watched) may be the first time in history (the documentation of significant occurrences over the passing of time) a joke (metaphor, in this case) was funnier after it was explained.

Well, except for all the times Johnny Carson did it. But then, he was a drummer, so...

  • Sincerely awesome. This one has to be amongst your best songs. Thanks, thank you very very much for sharing this with us.

  • Haha I love how all the people say "no" in unison when he asks if they take pity on Bush. That's great.

  • Brilliant!!!

  • I can relate. Our President cheated too.

  • absolutely BRILLIANT!!!!!

thank the stars he's gone in a year.

  • I feel so bad for comedy in 2009, I mean really what are we gonna make fun of when Bush is gone. I wonder if comedians will still be funny, I mean they have to be rusty after not having to write their own jokes for so long.

    Still improving...

  • Kill Your Television, Now More Than Ever.

Before They™ Upgrade You To HD.

  • Roy Zimmerman, I love you man! It is OUR T.V.!!!

  • Roy Zimmerman for president!!!!

  • Hilarious! Bravo!

  • So Sardonic!

  • Excellent stuff. Those of us outside the USA really hope Americans get it right this time. The person you elect will affect us all.

  • However, remember that no one has ever gone broke by underestimating American stupidity.

  • What is that big lump on the guitar near the neck? Can't be the pick-up.

  • Roy mentioned somewhere (I believe on How (and Why) to Play PeaceNick) that it's a tuner.

  • I've got that DVD. Didn't come across that part yet.

  • Just checked - he gives an overview of his equipment in the first minute of Christmas Is Pain on the DVD.

  • Thanks. I hadn't watched that one yet.

  • If you're talking about the thing on the headstock with the tuning pegs? That's a capo. It shortens the strings to increase the pitch of the guitar.

  • Nope. Know what a capo is. I've got one.

  • Too hilarious, and yet you hit home smack dead on, Roy!

Happy 2008! And let us pray that we get some of our stolen tvs back. LOL

    Moosie

  • Happy New Year to us! Please everyone, buy Roy's CDs - you won't regret it. We must encourage him to keep this up. :)

  • How true!

  • lol hillarious,I didn't even get where he was going with it

  • Bloody fucking brilliant.

  • I love the poetical significance of the line, "it was stolen."

  • I love the poetical significance of the line, "was the focal point".

  • Dig that.

    ~Don~

  • I love this song. Only I very much wish it were parody and not commentary.
