What Kucinich, Ron Paul and I say is not that Iran SHOULD own nuclear weapons but that their decision is rational since we included them without good reason in the axis of evil, invaded a country right on their door step and then immediately threatened them with war. We overthrew the only democratic leader they ever had and propped up the brutal Shah! Bush's desire to pre-emptively eliminate one FALSE nuclear threat accelerated Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons, as a deterrent to us.

Furthermore the UN rejected the invasion of Iraq. Even Daddy Bush acknowledged that UN regulations forbade us to invade Iraq.

Dubya is on record for saying we had to stop Saddam before he got nuclear weapons. There is the pre-emption.

We falsely accused Iraq and killed thousands in the name of those lies. We propped Saddam up in the first place.

In the end all you have is: He "invaded" Kuwait. Sorry but that doesn't justify our President illegally taking us to war with them.

Dennis Kucinich is going to look pretty stupid if Iran pops up with a nuclear weapon. I believe they will and the news today agrees. Some will give up World stability for the empty offer of "Peace". No one wants war with Iran but they must be responsible to avoid their demise.

Fear not then because I didn't say anything remotely close to "Iran will never be a threat." I am not omnipotent nor will I ever see all ends. In such case I will side and strive for peace and so should our nation, war being an option only after all others are exhausted AND when we have been directly and credibly threatened or attacked.

If we are directly attacked, we respond with TOTAL MILITARY COMMITMENT with TOTAL VICTORY being the only option. That's what our founding fathers wanted.

In fact I would take it further as I believe in the case we were directly attacked that we would see the total commitment of our society to defending our nation. Reagan said PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH and I agree. He didn't say PEACE THROUGH PERPETUAL PRE-EMPTIVE WAR against imaginary enemies that are not a threat or might become a threat in some conceivable future.

The World united to kick him out.

Saddam lost that war.

Saddam agreed to cease-fire arrangements.

Saddam breached those agreements.

We finished Desert Storm with his ousting.

Saddam was not a threat to US, the United States nor could he have posed any credible threat to us. His army was 1/5 the size it was in 1991. He had no navy and no air force.

Saddam did not attack us.

Saddam did not have WMD and had the absolutel most crude of programs. All evidence point to the fact he complied with UN mandates.

The no fly zones were NOT MANDATED by the UN.

Any WMD he had in the past were given to him by the United States.

Besides we are talking about IRAN!

President Bush had Saddam on violations and added intel (wrong or not) to the prosecution. Saddam could have easily defended those accusations by FULL compliance. He didn't, and was ousted. It is pretty simple and was correct.
