Good groovy music! But would have been 75% better with real acoustic drums!

I'm sorry but Roland electronic drums sound soooo fake. Especially the "machine gun effect" heard due to the same exact snare sample being played repetitively at 2:04. And listen how short those cymbal samples are, and how puny they sound!

Common Roland! Why don't you multi-sample your drums like you do for pianos ?

Computer memory is really inexpensive today! Stop using 20 years old samples from your TD7 series!

You're free to use limited samples if you like. An inexpensive software like Addictive Drums, or Superior Drummer 2.0 blows any Roland sound unit right out of the water when it comes down to realism.

If you can't hear the difference, you've obviously never played on a real acoustic drum kit, my friend.

The only good thing about Roland drum kits are those mesh heads.

@AlainHubert the samples you use have NOTHING to do with the realism and dynamics that an e-kit allows you to play with, and the TD20 Schack is using in the video plays as realistic as any current electronic drum kit can get. using one sample isn't the cause for the "machine gun effect" you described, playing without dynamics is, as all modern modules and e-kits use velocity to simulate how a real drum plays.

and i've played on an acoustic drum kit every day of my life for the past 7 years.

@AlainHubert Alain, thanks for your personal comments here. But one thing : it's not only the mesh heads - I do like the sounds because I can blend them well within the music of today and tomorrow, and most important, on the live stage, no module+software add ons can beat the minimal latency of V-Drums and their internal customisable sounds. All packages you mention are great, but as always, they're slower on stage than a TD-20X. And again, sound taste is a personal matter, latency isn't.

Hello Michael. You bring up a valuable point. And Roland hardware is state-of-the-art, it's true. I just wish they could incorporate better sampling technology in their units. They did it with their V-Piano, they did it with their V-Accordion, why can't they do it for their V-Drums? Randomized multi-sample playback, combined with COSM and the wide velocity range of their pads would have me buy a V-Drum system in a heartbeat, uh make that a drumbeat. lol
