@AdamCartwrightILoveU - great episode, no question there, but have you seen Pernell in Ironside? Bloody brilliant, serach YouTube for PERNELL ROBERTS, TO KILL A COP . I mean, it's not Trapper John MD or anything, but damn he's good in it.
@AdamCartwrightILoveU Almost too well! Love the bit where he pretends to fan a revolver ('You cops with your guns...'), a nice little tribute to his days on the Ponderosa. Still, better than San Francisco International Airport for Pernell fans.
Thanks so much for posting this episode,Night Gallery was my favorite show when I was kid.....I love that girl's red hair, the clothes and hairstyles from the 1970's is my favorite.
And THANK you for posting this! Such an odd cast but after hearing/thinking about/seeing this episode over and over for years, I just accept them all. For me, Pernell was "Vague Husband Guy" to Susan Oliver's "Kelly" well before I even saw Bonanza or Trapper! What do you suppose the bad guy (Roy) is doing with that chair before he slow-motion collapses into the juke-box, sending the needls skidding before the bullets hit it? What is with the chair? I wonder if anyone has noticed the chair...
I guess so. Sometimes I think it's okay to end a story like this, making the viewer/reader wonder what happened. Other times I think it's a cop out on the writer's part. In this case, it made the story all the more creepy, so it worked. Thanks again for posting.
@rhsharp I agree re: "Dan's Cafe." I have obsessed on over this episode for years, since I was a kid, having taped it off the TV via a cassette recorder, listening to it over and over until the 90's when somehow I saw it again on VHS. I have to think that YES, it is left for the viewer to decide, but I think in some form Roy exacts revenge in some unGodly manner we can't even imagine. I don't know where they all went either! And note how the Cafe neon, etc, all comes to life when Red appears!
