  • why are all of you guys so depress of being in your early 20's, its all a matter of perspective. We are all still like children, its all in your mind. Well at least i'am never going to change how i view the life.

  • I just turned 18..Crazy to think just 3 years ago i started highschool and couldn't wait to get the hell out of that place. Now i'm wishing the time i have with friends could just last. I'm not going to have this free time for very long. The start of life is just around the corner. I wish i could just stay care free and happy a little longer, but sadly life doesn't work that way.

  • I'm turning 20 in a few days. The childhood is over for a long time, and teenage years are also gone now. I haven't achieved anything in my life yet. What's waiting for me in the future, what'll be with my family and friends? I'm listening to EITS and feel really lost.

  • @S7RauzZz Hello friend, you're not alone .. 20th birthday in December, and my life is a mess .. I feel alone and have not done anything in my life, everything I like crap, even listen to Explosions in love or out of my head me this. Like you I am lost.

  • why is this song so short in comparison to some of their other ones :(

  • @obu117 because your last day as a child is so short. Being a child is so short. By the time you realize you're a child, you're an adult.

  • I leave in three days for college. Although I'm ready, there are a lot of things that have changed, and I wish I could go back to them. But this band and its music have always created stepping stones for me, for a lot of us I'm sure. Feels good man.

  • No one in my school ever listens to these sorts of music :(

I wish atleast some of them would appreciate such incredible music.

  • I'm 20 today, and this song couldn't be more appropriate. Plus, I just got a ticket to see them in Bristol's lovely 02 Achademy this November. Feel free to thumbs if you're going to the same show :)

  • @shabbycat so now you probably 20 or turning 20 huh? hmm maybe 18 wasn't so bad? =p

  • Age makes no difference, we'll always be children at heart, its those who let the world consume them that are the ones who say goodbye to their childhood and become grumpy old men who live day to day with the same routine and live boring lives with no one to love. Only your inner child can keep you from becoming that grumpy old man and help you to become the fun, loving people we were when we were children

  • how old you are makes no difference.....live how you want when you want

  • I found this song when I am 14. (: I have alot of good memories in a town Im leaving in a year. Ill be starting 10th grade with perfect strangers across the country from the people I grew up with, so i can relate.

  • I'm definitely playing this song for our graduation next year. Class of 2012.

  • @21RFed god I wish you went to my school.

  • and to think. i was so excited to grow up. how stupid! senior year coming up. :(

  • just turned 27.. The child in you never really leaves.

  • One year of highschool left and i remember my first day of kindergarden. Man how the time flys, late night stay up with friends. chasing girls around, knowing my little crush relationship is not gonna end but hey have to enjoy it now. Not gonna get the free time i have now back. hear is to the childhood we have/had let it burn into our thoughts and hope that we can make a good one for our children...sorry for this random rant just been some time since i listen to these guys.:) take care to all:D

  • @jmanis92 Is Going to end*

  • graduating from high school tomorrow...... fml

  • @bullwinkle5150 lol I graduated too...class of 2011

  • Fuck All Of You. You Ruined A Great Youtube Page With AMAZING Music On It. Your All Still Children For Arguing About Stupid Shit.

  • I first found this song on the last day of my high school career...I walk with my senior class in 3 days :)

  • I'm 18, and I have a baby cousin that I love to spend time with. Have you sat recently and blown bubbles? When I did I felt childish, but I loved it. An hour later I went to work so I can afford to go to university. Your childhood doesn't disappear- life finds a way to interfere.

  • @amtvaccs

i think we all can agree on that

  • I think the song implies the death of your parents. Not the end of your youth.

  • this soundtrack played while I was overlooking the Himalayas.

  • The one thing I think people misunderstand about the whole maturity and not being a child anymore thing is that you never grow up. You'll always be a child. Maturity is only learning when and when not to be immature, so understand now that that moment where you find someone that won't judge your innocent, playful, childish side is whenever you can be a kid again. Until then, work for the moment where you won't be judged. It'll be worth it in the end. :)

  • I don't want to grow up anymore, I want to stay myself now

  • i'm graduating in a few months.. happy i dont have to wake up early as fuck but it is gunna be the most depressing ever the following months... :'( never to see them again, talking will almost never happen again, and people will part their ways,,,, damnit and i was just reallt hoping for the relations to lasrt loingr.. duxk crq i;m deubk

  • Why does everyone have to get in a fight about the song? Why not just listen and enjoy the song. A song that's like beautiful by the way.

  • I have this memory etched in mind...

I was 6, alone in my room, playing with my toys...

when I suddenly stopped and looked at the window... I could see the golden light streaming in the room...

That was the moment... that I wondered, why my toys didn't talk back anymore..

  • I do not want to grow up , there are times when you are young that can never be the same again when you are older , you have to take responsibility

  • when we grow up we beacame apart of society, and that FUCKS EVERTHING!

    IT CONSUMES OUR SOUL.

  • @TheOsizz You are a fucking idiot. Please abandon society and live in a cave you liberal fucking piece of shit. You are the reason why 1/3 of the world hates America. You are given everything from birth and then progressively fuck up your life due to your will to never grow up or enjoy society. Go fuck yourself you fucking faggot.

  • @SoonerFalcon70 fuck off men, get a job, get a family and die like everyone else without see the beauty of the world!

  • @TheOsizz No, I get to see the beauty in the world. But I'll get to see it from a penthouse some day because I'm in college and working two jobs, at a restaurant and a sales rep. And considering I made 64 thousand dollars being 20 with no degree yet (BTW I'm a double major and shooting for an MBA) I will have the money to see everything I want in the world. Fuck you you fucking hippie lifewreck who is a waste of fucking life. Leave America so we can make room for go getters not fucks like you

  • @SoonerFalcon70 u look a fucking nazzi, but I dont care, and I btw Im portuguese not american.

  • @TheOsizz SF70 is a self-satisfied asshole. Most Americans seem to assume everyone on the internet is American.

  • @TheOsizz @TheOsizz You are a fucking idiot. Please abandon society and live in a cave you liberal fucking piece of shit. You are the reason why 1/3 of the world hates America. You are given everything from birth and then progressively fuck up your life due to your will to never grow up or enjoy society. Go fuck yourself you fucking faggot.

  • literally changed my life..thank you:)

  • Is there any chance you could send me the song please i can't seem to find it any where to download, thankyou x

  • where's the picture? It is just a white screen.

  • @What4ish Exactly.

  • @What4ish Who's to say there needs to be imagery? Listen to the song, let the music speak for itself and build up a scene in your head.

  • 8 people apparently already grew up.

  • This entire soundtrack is so beautiful, but I find it so difficult to listen to after the loss of my nephew... he was a talented football player, and guitarist -- he learned how to play this entire soundtrack by ear. Even reading the names of the songs, it's a reminder of how we should hold on to every moment with the people we love... "And you fly away today, And you fly away tomorrow, And you fly away, leave me to my sorrow. " RIP Patrick Anthony Boyles 11/24/87 - 09/23/06

  • im 18 and sometimes i get sad because time is going so fast lately. :3

  • So... a good friend of mine died about 6 months ago from brain cancer at the age of 21. I'm listening to Pandora, and this song randomly pops up. Up until a few minutes ago I had no idea that Pandora even allows any kind of networking. I look at the bottom, and it says that my friend also likes this song with a link to his profile.

I dunno, thought it was poetic and creepy, especially given the mood of the song.

  • @bustthewave I'm sorry about your friend, but that is one hell of a good sign. *hugs*

  • @Ladycat2178 thanks :), I thought so too. Made me really sad, but I felt connected too him again. It was weird that we both apparently liked the same song.

  • @bustthewave You will meet your friend again. Life does not end here.

  • solo describo explosions in the sky en una sola palabra FENOMENAL

  • man i almost cried

  • All throughout your childhood you're never allowed to be yourselves, it's always about "growing up". Where has it gone?

  • Never grow up...

  • Most of the best feelings are shortlast..Great feeling, short lasting

  • Growing up sucks....being a kid is probably the best time of our lives...and its too short... :(

  • (2/2) So... the song is short because our childhoods are short. This song is like a closure. The way I picture, you've got two people. They've been best friends since they were toddlers, and now they're sitting down... watching the sunset on their last day as children. Tomorrow they'll be adults, and their childhood will be leaving them behind.

  • I think there's a reason why this song is shorter than most of their others ones... so the title says, "Our Last Day as Children", right? Our childhood is short... extremely short. And more often than not, we leave it's our child that leaves us behind when we grow. (1/2)

  • if only the song was longer. Makes me cry everytime.

  • (: beautiful..

  • listening to this at 4:50AM is so soothing nearly puts my weary insomniatic eyes to sleep..

  • @fighm I read this, and checked the clock...it's 4:50 am right now. :) Good to know other people feeling the same way about this song.

  • @catastrophee1 haha I was watching this at 4:50 am too

  • gohgeous.

  • keep coming back to this page cuz i can't find this song anywhere else, and it's simplicity continues to amaze me

  • Such a simple, gorgeous arrangement :(

  • This song makes me think of the day before I left for Washington D.C. to graduate =[

It also played in my mind when I accepted my diploma.

  • We only get old on the outside!

    Thank goodness =D

  • I would give anything in my life to feel the innocence of childhood. Its kind of funny cause all we wanted was to be grown up and then when u get there u realize how good life really was

  • i know exactly what you mean. I could not wait to grow up when i was a child (depending of course on who you compare me to, i could still be viewed as a child). Now, i know so much more and experienced so many new things (good and bad). And all i want to do right now is go back and be the way i used to be. Ignorant, happy, innocent. When all my thoughts and efforts were dedicated to being happy and goofing around. Being a grown up kind of sucks. You realize the world isn't perfect, isn't as fun.

  • @userid98 i've heard of it. the quality sucks and its probably unsafe.

  • turning 18 tomorrow. uncool.

  • @shabbycat You seriously think that childhood magically ends on your 18th birthday?

  • @Brian93TM It's not that it "magically ends" on your 18th birthday. It the fact that you'll be constantly bombarded by the issues of the world and the issues of an adult. Bills to pay, things to go to, college loans that need to paid off, never having enough money... the stress factors in life. But maybe I'm just looking at the glass half empty.

  • @Brian93TM Dude, childhood ends when you hit puberty.

  • @The420shredhead even after puberty 2 years after your still that child..

  • @ImmortaLTech1423 Bravo, Mr. wise beyond your years 16y/o.

  • @shabbycat well ur 19 now! lol

  • @shabbycat Im 24. :(

  • maybe my friend :D

the most beautiful from my pov...not sure but try this

    your hand in mine!

at the end of the movie its played as well!

  • Anyone know what song was used in Friday Night Lights thew pilot ep during the end scene when Coach Taylor is visiting Jason after the op? They also play that same music earlier in the ep when the kids are with the senior team at school. I got the Friday Night Lights album by Explosions in The Sky but couldn't find that tune on there at all.

  • Wonderful, and on the cusp of my 18th birthday. This is perfectly timed too.

  • thats no coincidence 8D

you stumbled upon the best band ever.

with a perfectly fitting song at that.

    happy l8 b-day!

  • @BloggerMusicMan Happy 18th.

Mine's day after tomorrow, and I'm more emotional about it than I thought I would be.

    This song is perfect.

  • being a child is more a state of mind, one state of mind that no1 should ever lose. its how u feel when you go to the ocean or see something wonderful.

dont worry about losing your childhood, nothing is ever lost.

  • Thank you for your terrific comment and insight. I just turned 20 a couple weeks ago, and what you said really spoke to my feelings. I am touched by it and will take it to heart =] God's blessings!

  • If that is so, then our last day as children signifies or death, whereas our state of mind will be lost...

  • Gosh so why u listen it and comment?

  • @xEWGxPUNISH3R

shut up you stupid yank prick

  • I feel what all u guys saying i just turned 18 today and now im an young adult im afraid of growing up and idk what to really do im getting the feel of alot of responsibility coming my way and im scared. =/

  • Life in general doesn t change in a day, even if you turn 18 in a particular one. The process of growing, of really getting into the routine of a so called adult, is a slow one, you ll not see it with your own eyes, when it completes, you will already feel mature. Despite all the cliques of the majority, this thing we call life is somehow directed in a smooth way by the force known as God, everything is going on a schedule. The book of your life is made so that you can t acknowledge the pages

  • nostalgia..... its all i have when i listen to this

  • I agree with all the messages under...

I've only 20, but I already have a cancer, an unexplained cancer. Live your life, fully... enjoy every moment, it's the most important thing

  • ima be prayin for you, man

(if that even means anything to you)

    God bless

  • Wow!!Reading through the comments on this video...amazing!!Life was better when we were young, but life goes on!I am not as young as alot of you guys, but just becoming a new father,I really want to teach my kids well, and HAVE FUN!!!You take your experiances in life, even those we had as children, leave the bad ones, and enjoy the good ones, and PLAN BETTER FOR YOUR OWN KIDS!!!My life sucked BIG TIME because of...(You can fill in the horrible "blanks")...but LIFE GOES ON!MAKE IT GOOD!!Enjoy the good!

  • the point of life is to try and have fun not to sit at a desk job and have the same boring daily routine every day until u die. u have to experience life to the fullest

  • ditto! exactly!

  • Whether you wish to grow up or not is not your choice. It is going to happen.

Life could care less about your "wants".

It's best to accept this now.

Life will, by definition, suck for awhile.

Once it gets better, and you can finally retire or something, you - just as everyone else -

    will die.

You are not the only ones with this problem.

    It's pretty common.

  • i'm so afraid of the future.

i have no idea whats in store for me, honestly.

i'm 16 years old and i miss an average of 2-3 days per week of school.

    i'm not motivated by anything.

    i'm so fucking afraid.

  • Go to school.

  • I'm 16, too, and I just quit school to hitchhike to communes.

Not very responsible, is it? What am I going to say in ten years? Oh, the regret... :D

Nobody knows whats in store for them, that's why I think it's important to freely decide what to do by what feels best. You can survive in lots of ways. It's not that hard.

School didn't exactly motivate me, either.

  • Don't worry... I would only go to 1 day a week when I was in highschool... but now I'm at UC Davis... good school. Still don't know a damn thing about what's gonna happen though... Don't fret so much, all will work out in the end.

  • what if it doesn't though.. then what?

more then anything would i love to live in NYC and jsut be surrounded by the large buildings and city life, and maybe even make something of myself there.

i'd rather be happy and live in a studio in the city, then working 14-16 hours a day, making a 6 figure salary, living in a multi-million dollar apartment looking down on the city in the financial district and being alone.

  • why are you afraid of the future ?

  • peter...EVERYONE is afraid of the future! You have NO CONTROL over the future, just like the rest of us!!!The best you can do is equip yourself THE BEST THAT YOU CAN,and deal with the cards that are dealt to you.The ONLY thing you CAN CONTROL is your REACTION to LIFE---EVENTS,ENVIROMENTS,and PEOPLE.Being afraid is just an emotion, and it is there to tell YOU something. But YOU MUST MAKE THE BEST OF THINGS,and DECIDE(CHOSE with your MIND,NOT your emotions!!)the best route to take. You are not alone!

  • no me canso de oirlos....es algo casi magico...es terapia musical para mi alma.....

  • I don't want to grow up.

  • everybody i respect your opinion but i don't agree with it. As we age on, we must keep the spirit of youth in us. I don't ever want to become my dad with his idea of fun is socializing. I want to surf, skate, snow, and bball. You choose how life goes and you won't feel time is going fast as long as you incorporate youth in you.

  • Thank you, and I agree with your lovely opinion. What a beautiful way of putting it...guess I'm torn between not wanting to grow up yet desiring to mature anyway =]

It's a difficult but wonderful transition. The spirit of youth is still in me--I definitely feel it when I'm on the playground w/the kids I baby-sit, lol!

  • i just want time to slow down and it be simple for me now i dont want to grow up to fast like most kids in my school i just want to take life as easy as i can because in 3 to 10 years i dont get that time in my life back and i have to take responsbility i might have spelled that wrong sorry

  • Me too, I hear you. I want it all back as well; the responsibility seems overwhelming, it does. Little kids are anxious to grow up--I tell 'em "Don't be since it all goes so fast." Cheers & lovely comment.

  • people always want what they can't have, both kids and adults :/ I feel the same way

  • yeah we can't but in a state of mind we might like to think we can.

  • yeah it is im 16 and i already want my life of being 8 or 5 again

  • and thanks for replying to me with this wonderful comment

  • Thank God somebody in this world is realizing the beauty of their life while they're still in it...Not after it's dead and gone and only a dream or a far off memory....Amen to you fella...Or lady....I suppose I should of checked....

  • thanks and im a fella haha

  • i agree 110%%

  • its nice to see people agree with me :)

  • @blazefire94

Such a intelligent child & hope your happy?

  • @Godzie1 Thank you and i am at time's

  • @blazefire94 Fine, don't grow up fast. Stay unemployed and enjoy living on the streets sucking dick for drugs that help you enjoy this music better. This song imbodies the warrior mentality of a football player, a soldier taking names and kicking ass in Iraq, or others who "grow up". Enjoy sucking your Mom's tits you little bitch. Since you never want tp grow up, that's all you'll ever get.

  • Wow what's your problem. lol

  • Wow what's your problem. lol

  • @SoonerFalcon70

Stop arguing like idiots and grow up. I don't know who started this argument and I don't care.

If you're all about complaining to each other than send a personal message, just don't do it

on the boards of an amazing song.

    Have a Merry Christmas.

  • @TimeYearsFive This is a little late but Merry Christmas to you as well. Hope 2011 is going good for you so far. And I started the argument becasue I hate it when people disregard the advantages they are born with in this great country and blame society for their failures. Youtube isn't the place for a life lesson but but seriously a bunch of these comments make me want to puke

  • i just found out about EITS. they are truely amazing. and calming. i'm definitely putting them on my iPod. [:

their songs are more powerful without lyrics than powerful songs with lyrics. that takes talent, fer sure.

  • it sure does, because you yourself can use the words that come to your mind naturally just from listening, to form a story, or whatever.

    you can just go...

  • it makes me feel like i can float.

    thats why i like it.

  • This song has a stunning effect when you're playing it whilst driving down the interstate in Texas in the evening.

I'll surely think about it as I drive there tonight leaving for college the first time.

  • i played this song on my way to my gradutation this past june.

  • this is peaceful song :)

  • You can't put LIFE into meaning or words.

    LIFE is. Simple as that.

  • I love EITS, sooo, very much, but this song, WOW, makes me feel like im 12again and opening the my parents garage door and and pedaling to freedom as young kid, my, God, what a song, what emotions, put into 2:42

  • I work at a summer camp, for this very reason. Children are so so, beautiful. And this song definatly goes through my mind when I have to watch them swim everyday. Life is so simple. I want it all back.

  • Couple days ago on a bike ride I passed by the playground of my old elementary school and the kids were out for recess...I sat for about 5 minutes 'til they got called in; this song was playing in my head the whole time! Was wonderful & tearful too :)

  • On accident, I gave you a thumbs down.

I meant to give you a thumbs up.

    Sorry=/

  • For anyone read this comment,I just want to say "Thank you" to MichaelOoo!Even though it's 4 months ago,it shows alot of good character! You made my day, just in that little act,MichaelOoo,thanks!Lets all do the same!

  • Ah, thanks a lot man=]

That means a lot to me.

    Thanks yo=]]]]

  • I believe if the entire world listened to music as emotional as this, there would be no war.

  • There's always someone to mess it up.

  • i want to stop time and listen to this 1000 times and then start all over again

  • Comment removed

  • i turned 17 this past February and i now i am about to graduate high school less than a month after i type this.. im scared as hell man.. but as long as theres music this beautiful i know things will be alright

  • Comment removed

  • I'm excited to grow older. To reach an age of wisdom and understanding. Don't be afraid, you've already been so many people. Stay positive everyone :)

  • Perhaps, but I don't think we get wiser...as we continue our lives, it only raises more questions. Nobody ever knows anything, really.

  • That's true nobody ever knows anything but if we all work togather and get things done for the greatter good for peace and for the people things in life will be a better place.

  • What are we working towards anyway? Peace, the betterment of mankind, then extension of our existence, finding cosmic interstellar purpose in our lives?

Our very existence doesnt have any meaning, we have no real purpose. All that we claim to know as scientific fact is based on scales of our own design, all knowledge and reason is just a way to rationalize the tangible universe.

    We search for purpose

working towards bettering a species that will disappear

but in the end we come up short

  • Word.

  • You revealed your amazing insight when you said, "All that we claim to know as scientific fact is based on scales of our own design" because it's so true. When you say, "Our very existence doesnt have any meaning, we have no real purpose." That means there is infinite potential and possibilites. Dreams and desires are constantly manifesting themselves on this plane of reality.

  • beautiful!

  • darn it ; ; you guys are making my eyes tear. lol

only 2 more years of college to go til i'm done. i don't want it to end. but each year goes faster.

  • oh man do i hear ya..... i don't wanna turn 20 in a month

  • I can't believe I turn 20 in less than 7 months! I don't want to. I wish I could be in 2nd grade again...when school/learning were fun :)

  • this shows that theres no need for drugs to escape...just close your eyes.

  • amen

  • or light a spliff up with this playing, even better.

  • @tmh1717 Closer your eyes with this /watch?v=RdTduSstXVM

  • @tmh1717

Close your eyes after smoking an eighth of weed, much funner.

  • @LSDlucid I'm with U!!!!
