  • If I could sing like this guy, I would never talk. I would only sing my conversations with others.

  • Everything sounds like everything else these days. Quit looking for complete originality in pop music. IT DOESN'T EXIST. Just enjoy it or don't listen to it. It's rock and roll for fuck's sake, not a think tank determining the future of humanity.

  • Hearing this live was incredible! Was absolutely note perfect, amazing.

  • This song's awesome. The fact that my boyfriend's actually seen Black Shuck makes it even more awesome.

  • this could have been one of the hugest bands, but self-destruction is hard to avoid when u get white hot like they did. damn shame.

  • coooooooooooool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome. Fucking awesome.

  • what the fuck is shuck....ya fuck?

  • @BerkLeeDrm Being a local to Lowestoft, where Justin is from, I think I might be able to answer that one for ya. Black Shuck is a legend about a hell hound that roams Norfolk. Lowestoft being the border between Suffolk and Norfolk is sometimes said to be as far as he can roam. But yeah, big ole black evil demon dog that eats people.

  • Intro is epic, further they just keep being awesome.

  • Once they realised most of their best songs couldn't be played on american radio because of the swearing and double entendres they toned it down for the second album except for the mighty 'knockers'..Caught between two stools as one of the top comments says, really you have to stick to your guns rather than pandering to the man. Justin Hawkins massive ego and coke habit didn't help mind!

  • permission to land great album.... the darkness seemed to come from nowhere..with great songs....maybee trod on a lot of toes with their swift success... i used to cane the cd constantly....ya cant beat a screaming les paul..! shame they still not around

  • @pmay222 you do know their doing a reunion?

  • Yeah, like Em!

trouble is they are always gonna be labelled as a bit of a novelty band because of the Christmas record.

  • I love this track. So glad they are back together. Hope they are still as good!

  • fucking love this riff, gives me a hard on

  • If Robert Plant had a son that could sing it would be him

  • He sounds like he should be singing on the top of a mountain

  • The best AC/DC song ever made by any non-AC/DC band.

  • Christmas wish list:

The Darkness to get back together

The Darkness to make a new album

Tickets to the next Darkness concert.

  • @antisadism you are in luck

they are back together and recording a new album

  • @antisadism The Darkness are playing at DOWNLOAD festival this year, so im guessing they are back unless its a one-off :)

  • Black Shuck is named from the Hellhound noted to be roaming the north of England for centuries. Typical Hellhound: Red, flaming eyes, about 4ft. tall, pure muscle, huge fangs, and the noxious odors.

  • I can't help but notice from the comments that most people appear unaware that the band were of a tongue in cheek nature.

  • "black shuck, that dog don't give a fuck" greeat man, I hope they come back

  • easily one of my top 5 fav albums of all time

  • They are reforming guys, I was practicing with my band in the same place as them at the same time yesterday, they are sounding awesome!

  • @Scrapod Really? If so that's awesome. Do you know if it's the original line-up with Frankie or is it with Richie on bass?

  • @Irishspeedstacker Yep!

I don't know who, I only saw Dan and Ed

  • @Irishspeedstacker It' supposed to be the original liner up

  • Comment removed

  • hot leg is pretty cool, but doesnt beat the darkness. :(

  • there like queen with ac/dc badassness thrown in and a bit of three days to add to that rock feeling, they are kick ass nice picks by the way

  • there like queen with ac/dc badassness thrown in and a bit of three days to add to that rock feeling, they are kick ass

  • A band that brought the hard rock of ACDC, and the quirkiness of Queen.....I must be dreaming if there is something that awesome....but this is real.....8D

  • It's always tough when you lead off with your masterpiece and swan song all at once... When I first heard this, I felt the same way I felt when I first heard Guns and

Roses: We've entered a new era of guitar rock. Then they ended with a whimper.

  • GREAT song

  • 2:32 acdc! and its fitting because they sound like Queen and ACDC.

  • They broke up because Justin hawkins was too vulnerable to the dangers of being a young rock band on the road. Drugs and throat problems did them in. Its sad because I loved them and thought they were one of the brightest stars in the rock heavens to come along in a long while.

  • @artbable Well I guess that attributed to it, but according to Hawkins himself he found that recording songs was very boring and repeptitive for him.

  • i love these guys. shame they broke up :(

  • ac/dc-queen

  • I used to worship this album when I was younger. I like death metal now xD

  • why the hell do you have the darkness game cover?

  • I LOVED the darkness when I was about.. 9. (: He was like my first crush. They're amazing. I miss them. xxxxx

  • They worked themselves into a strange position where they were to poppy for the hardcore and to out of touch to appeal to the mainstream pop idol era. I wish they stuck more to the AC/DC style of this song they might have lasted a bit longer as permission to land was a great album and they obviously had alot of talent. Not sure if it was them chasing money or a bad manager pushing them down the wrong route. Great shame they had the chance to bring 80's rock kicking and screaming back to the 00's

  • @workingclassbum I agree Permission To Land was great, they took far too long with the next album, which sounded like Queen and was simply not in the same league. I went to see them and they had 2 support acts (Do Me Bad Things & Ash), they were obviously short of material. Ash simply blew them away, I felt sorry for Justin & the boys that night, the crowd sat there quiet until the last 2 songs... they should never of had Ash as support, they're a top band who have been on the scene a long time.

  • @westlifehateclub that is seriously bad management to book a band with an old band with a cult following like Ash to support what was then still an up and coming group especially when they did't have a enough top tunes to fill out a whole set. Damn talk about wasted potential.

  • @westlifehateclub yeah defo, they love Queen and sounding like Queen now wont work, Queen did 70's music, there own style, then the 80's hit, so they changed a bit to keep on top, but Queen did it well, The Darkness couldnt do that now, they couldnt take 2 many risks now, Queen could back then, Queen did 'Hot Space' which nt a lot of ppl liked, but they rebounded well wiv a great tour and then Live Aid, so they should look at Queens minor mistake and do the same, come back in style!

  • @westlifehateclub If they sounded like Queen they would be in another league! ;)

  • @workingclassbum not been funny but the darkness were better than acdc

  • @xmertic You are retard If thats your opinion.

  • @gnrslashgnr no i belive acdc were overated end of my view stop been a thought nazi

  • @xmertic can't say I agree with you mate AC/DC are legends who have rocked over many albums over many decades and are famous in pretty much any rock loving nation on earth. Their songs are iconic examples of rock n roll. As much as I loved the Darkness they had one great album and burned out. I don't know personally but I'd be surprised if anyone outside of the UK had ever heard of them.

  • @workingclassbum well seeming as the darkness played across europe and america i presume people outside of the uk did hear em n i dont like acdc deal with it lol

  • @workingclassbum Im living in South Africa and just about everybody from 12 years old to 40's or 50's know the Darkness. They just one of those groups that were hard to ignore. Fair enough there were just two radio songs (I think) A thing called love, Love is only a feeling but that alone was enough to gain fans here. In my opinion those are my least favourite songs and this Black Shuck being my fav of them all. 2nd album not so good except the title track.

  • @workingclassbum agreed mate but i do think justin hawkins goes over board with the faulsetto high notes i meen yes we know he canb get it but its like every second word

you can really see how much they love queen as well

but people need to remember that classy solo stuff sound is brian mays darkness copied it

like on i believe in a thing called love that solo is so much like what may would play

  • Holy shit, this song was in school of rock *splooges*

  • Headbangs

  • ya, this is one of my fave rock songs ever. Not enough songs about black shucks and bi-curious beasts. :)

  • This is rock and roll.

  • What is this?

  • it's a shame they didn't do this well on one way ticket to hell and back

  • its kind of relieving that there is still a talented hard rock band that doesnt scream at the top of their lungs or play the same power chord throughout the entire song

  • kick ass song, but anyone noticed that main riff sounds little bit AC/DC's dirty deeds done dirt cheap?

  • @metallicatti well, you gotta get inspiration from somewhere, right?? :D

  • @metallicatti As a guitar player I can say they play alike, but that this one has more variation in it. :)

  • ha shuck

like puca in ireland, kewl song, love it

  • What's a Shuck????

  • blach shuck is a legend, its a mythical beast said to roam the east anglian coastline,

  • That's right lol, the shuck dog.

  • It's a legendary black dog which supposedly roams around northern Suffolk. The song refers to an incident in which it supposedly visited the church at Blythburgh in 1577, when two of the congregation were killed, the tower set ablaze and the doors scorched (certainly, there are still scorch marks on the ancient church doors). Go and Google the lyrics.

  • @luisin1984

    hellhound

  • @luisin1984 you

  • Hilarious lyrics

  • check out,,,VERDUNKELN--(Einst war Es Mal)

  • Good song

  • dude he has a crazy/amazing voice. it's astounding that he can make those notes and be on key and sound awesome at the same time

  • ya that can be accomplished when u put so much shit up your nose that you're well on your way to where he is. and just where is he u ask? oh...ya... he can't sing anymore because if he wants to get to that pitch anymore he would lose his nose.

*for those that don't get that, it means he did too much, any more of it and the bridge in his nose would collapse*

  • He's using falsetto to sing so high, which has nothing to do with his nose.

  • Sexi.

  • mint song !

  • ????????????????????????????

  • Ahhh ... Thanks.

  • foda

  • Justin = life.

  • Badass song! And one of my favorite legendary dogs, the black shuck lol ^_^

  • haha and where in the hierarchy of legendary dogs does it fit?

    And what are the others?

  • Look it up sometime. It classifies as a demon usually. The English made this creature up to scare kids out of sneaking into graveyards at night. When they see the Black Shuck, it's pretty much over for those who would try to challenge it or disobey it. It's eyes are either red or green and flame up. Sometimes they can also have just one eye and their breath is cold.

  • Other legendary dogs kinda have the same role such as being omans of bad luck or guarding graveyards or even death. There's the Gally Trot, Mauthe Doog, Grim, Black dog/hound, and a few others too, but the names kinda escape me at the moment, but you can look at it. Sometimes these dogs will also lead the lost home if that person is nice to them. Except for the Mauthe Doog lol.

  • Im a huge death metal head and these are like the only rock band ive been able to listen to, I had this album but lost the CD haha

  • that dog don't give a fuck

  • This album was such a masterpice :D

Shame it could only go downhill from there :(

  • @Dragonf0rce1 coke does that

  • @Dragonf0rce1 Fuck yea!

Awesome Album, fits nicely in my collection with bands from Dimmu Borgir to Disturbed to Hell is For Heroes :)

I'd happily call this album a classic ;)

  • Great memories attached to this song :D

One of the first I learned on guitar as well!

  • Love them! :D <33

  • vocals are sick.

  • there all freakin sexy XD

  • Always have been, always will be <3

  • too bad they aren't around anymore.

I mean, sure, the Stone Gods are okay, but it ain't the same since the lead singer left...

  • At least we have Hot Leg, eh? Couldn't cope without hearing Justin. D=

  • OMG i remember they were awesome. well just this album

  • they still ARE awesome.
