I'm a newcomer to DC comics, but not DC universe as a whole. I know a little bit about the characters here and there. I heard about the new 52 and decided to hop on. I bought the #1's of Mr. Terrific, Batman and Robin, Batman, Aquaman, Nightwing, Batwing, and Justice League. Any other issues anybody recommend for a newcomer?
the new 52: regarding action comics, batman & robin, detective comics, batman, superman & etc... is it a long comic series?(like long monthly series) or it is just a 3 introduction series then the following series is going to be different or not relatively related to the 1st series issues?
I dont think the art was better than Hush, which I consider Jim Lee's best at DC. I agree, Marvel has better characters...but Marvel has destroyed all traces of the characters I grew up with, making them unrecognizable to me. DC as better art, better covers and in my opinion, better stories. I grew up with Marvel.....but now as a 45 yr old comic artist ( been in the business 28 yrs......ugh) I see that DC is just stronger in every area. DC has balls to do what they have done. So far so good.
Flashpoint is the best comic i have read in a awhile. Then i picked up Justice League #1 and it made Flashpoint seem that much better. Its like Flash saved us but he couldn't have save all of us. I feel you about having your heart ripped out and being put back in. These two comics are the perfect example why DC is better than Marvel way better.
Between Superman and War of Green Lanterns, I had comic fatigue, too. So I understand what you mean completely. I feel really energized now that I've read Justice League #1 and it didn't suck. I feel good about it, which is nice and I think (or hope) is the point of the relaunch. I'm excited about comics again.
i think your over reacting a bit about the story telling. im sure DC wants to have good art good character development and a good story. it is possible =)
i really liked how batman in justice league no1 is closer to his movie counterpart and i like how the new superman film reflects the look of this issue

Awesome review! The Flashpoint payoff was well worth it. Justice League #1 is amazing

I feel like if I read Justice League it will be the only time I get to see Hal Jordan again, and that's really sad for me as a fan

I've been a DC fan ever since I was in elementary school. I'm now 36 and still feel DC's heroes and storylines are far better than Marvel's.
