i know one of the guys sisters in this band :) she is one of mty friends. when she told me that her brother was in rolling stones i didnt believe her. but know ive been listining to lord hurons music and i am really amazed by how talented they are :) oh yeah, they are playing at one drew barrimores parties...... they are just so good at what they do......
i only wish lord huron had more music available. it's so unique, unlike so much else i hear these days, and it's incredibly atmospheric and evocative.
this song is made up of a million tiny little bits of magic. i absolutely love it.
@WestOzRaw I just thumbs up'd your comment. Is that wrong? Na, it's a cool clip, and a really nice song. A friend sent me here, and I was not in the mood at the time. His links always disappoint me. I'm sorry I snapped. :)
@kittykittylickpurr there's obviously a deeper meaning than "hipsters playing in the snow" and what does it matter where they're going? not every music video has to have a literal meaning.
Here's what I took from the video. The two travelers killed a man or lost a friend and departed. Traveler 1 sees the dead man repeatedly because his conscious is tearing at him because of the deed he has done. Eventually, driven by deliriousness, he sees traveler 2 as the dead traveler and kills him to rid his guilty conscious. That's it. Simple as that folks. It's not that "deep".
@GarebearluvsBMX Dude, you're actually proving that it IS deep, by explaining that. Thats your perception of the video, and if a video can cause someone to have a personalized perception of its meaning is totally deep.
I'd love to comment on my immense appreciation for the song, and all the artistic influences I feel when watching it too...but all I can think about is how I want a pair of glasses like that one traveler.
I think this is a great video. I look at the snow as representative of a harsh world. Three guys set out to travel through this world, but one of them dies. The other two have to move on to survive. One guy can't move past his friend's death. The other guy tries to tell him it's okay, builds him a fire when he's cold, cares for him. But the harshness of the world drives him mad, he doesn't trust it'll be okay, and he accidentally shoots him.
God this song is so fantastic. It brings me so much joy and peace listening to it. These guys so so innovative with their music style. I've never heard anything like this in rock/pop music before. I love the Asian influence.
Hard to see why the joy someone else finds in looking for influence and history in art should ruin it for you. If it really does, I can't see you caring about art for long.
I thought the video complimented the song nicely. In addition to strong echoes of Poe and Sophocles, the ghost reminded my Spencer's Red Cross Knight. It gives the sense that there are a lot of layers to unpack here, which is good to see in a music video.

"hipsters" "scene kids" "ballers"
All just labels we really don't need. Perpetuate them if you must but it gets you nowhere

@breakfasttomorrow oh.. well it's art. that's for sure. it has it's own meaning, or lack thereof, for everyone. "deep" is a dumb term

ugh......really?
why do people have to ruin art by making pseudo intellectual bullshit comments.
the only unpacking I would suggest are the layers of crap you happen to be full of.
