Frankly I've had enough people just talking shit about hardcore dancers and moshing in general. People can do whatever they want at shows, they can push each other or karate kick the hell out of each other all they want, both are mosh pits in my opinion. The great thing about Dillinger Escape Plan is you can mosh either way to their music, it's not mutually exclusive. We should just be glad people aren't standing around staring at their shoes like pretentious pricks.

People who don't understand hardcore dancing typically don't understand dancing in general i'd say. Dancing is the way to express yourself physically to music. You listen to hiphop music, you dance like you're in a beyonce video. You listen to salsa music, you do salsa dancing. Country music - two-step, etc. Real moshing is one way to do it and its fun but almost limits your body to whats acceptable to a mosh pit. You aren't going to throw a fist or kick someone in the pit. You can in hcoredance

HOWEVER, i will agree with everyone that you do NOT do it at a DEP show. you can't, if you know what you're doing.

I cant believe people are hardcore dancing at a dillinger show, I dont mind hardcore dancing but you cant do it at a DEP show. For one thing it isnt the type of music to do it to, there aren't any beatdowns etc.

Usually it's all the queer assholes who don't know shit about the music moshing. I always watch them, and they look like retards. I moshed once, and it was to get to the front of a show (during Coheed and Cambria, which was awful, so I could be up front of Faith No More at Coachella).

Random, actually it does effect the experience of the concert. theres a difference between venting for yourself, or dancing to enjoy yourself and express what the music means to you than to flail around in a style solely reflecting a moronic scene of 'hardcore' idiots. 'hardcore' dancing is easily one of the most idiotic things I've ever witnessed, and it ruins good pits.

You realize that this is a music style that hasn't existed before and no musician is truly prepared for this kind of performance... Key signature changes, weird scales, extreme speed, jumping around... I think they got their stuff pretty well keeping in mind all this is fucking hard to play. Wow you really realise they don't play the songs perfectly at all like you'd think. However I'd take this kind of emotion and hearfelt songwriting acted out live anyday over any other band ever. Love this band.
