let me start off by saying i love jerry reed. he is truly a talented musician. that being said, these interpretations completely degrade the song. not saying that there is any lack in musical skill, but that the emotions that made other versions so affecting just aren't present here. i guess the white man just don't understand the blues.
I really miss these golden times on tv we witnessed as youngsters. There will never be anymore like them - what a pity! A group of excellent entertainers and Tom is just gorgeous as usual.
Behold, musical history in the making. Be sure to grab a hold of moments like these, because these are the ones you show your grand children when you get old and grey, when real music is long gone, and the memories of a better time is all you have left. They should all be deemed national treasures, and put under lock and key.
wow this is awesome. These guys not only were masters at what they did, but were also entertainers. It's all played live as well. Contrast this with last nights MTV awards... yikes music standards have dropped.
@jlbsr1959 If only I could listen to Jerry talk......I would listen to him for as long as he wanted to utter a word......he is one of the great guitarists and one of the great entertainers period.......what a personality!!
what's the common thread here - Elvis. All 3 guys at one point or another were friends or sidemen of Elvis. Cool huh? Jerry was the man though... my all time hero.
Alright everybody, let's just say it!the man upstairs and everyone else up there just got THE MAN to lead the band...i'm totally jealous! GOD bless jerry reed!!!
WOW...I stumbled on this as I was googling BIG JIM and found this there too. I was a roady for Tom Jones in 1970 /71 and Big Jim taught me a few cool things on the guitar whilst on the road....Yes I hope to see Big Jim this April in the UK.....
As for this video...it is simply brilliant...Jerry Reed was amazing....God Bless him !
I'm in tears...thanks so much for posting this. Jerry was such a monster player and had so much soul. Great watching TJ get to stretch out with those guys, too.
How come this ain't out on DVD and Blueray? What's the hold up? Should've been out years ago!

Jerry said in an interview that he didn´t consider himself a singer, and that his guitar was a tool to make great songs.
He saw himself mainly as a songwriter...
The paradox of that, is that he´s probably one of the best guitarists that we´ve had. He could play any style, like jazz in this clip.
Rest in peace...

The interloper, Big Jim Sullivan, is the most prolific UK guitarist - Jim has played on around 1,000 hit records.
Look him up on Wikipedia - you'll be amazed at the man's career.

Until these videos I posted surfaced I've never even heard of Big Jim Sullivan.

Big Jim S was Jimmy Page's mentor in the London Studio scene in the early 60's. Big Jim and Little Jim they were called.
