It was number one in Duluth, charted in Minneapolis...and elsewhere....and also charted nationally as I recall. The band decided not to go further, but did record one side of the second record that was supposed to come out. This business is not a big party, and real happiness with children and grandchildren cannot be replaced. The success they had speaks for itself in many ways, and so does the decision they made. Hearing this again made my day!!!
That's my brother Warren on the drums........what a treat to have it on You Tube.......I was there when the band won the contest that got them to this label ........ Yes, Sandy and I in the audience......We were so proud......We would have gone out for drinks to celebrate probably, but we were to young, and we had to drive home. I won't ever forget watching the band rehearse in our basement .... my Mom and Dad not caring about the noise, . and how proud they were as well.....what a memory!!!
"Marjorie Lake" was really Ione Vake, who is credited as the writer (as I. M. Vake). The band was from Chisholm, Minnesota, on the Iron Range. Ione sang in bar bands on the Range for many years.
