I believe they stopped making it. You can achieve the same results with a tiny rototiller that you take to a welder. Have him weld on a few small plates on a few of the tynes. Look closely in the video for these paddles.
Dewly noted. I'm making a walkway (6ft long) to a sm.porch area under my deck. (8X8ft) Bordered by landscape timbers, I used paving-gravel base sand for a base and am using plastic cobblestone path makers to pour the Quikrete in to. I tried the 'shovel in the plastic bin' for the 1st few, but the consistency was a little too pourus. I'll keep trying and erroring! Your vids have been a savior for more than a few of my projects though, thanks a ton!
@mykulc : in 1970, I MIXED CONCRETE TO BUILD A JAPANESE GARDEN FISH POND IN MY BACKYARD WITH MY BARE HAND. BOY! DID I PULL MY BACK THAT I HAD TO GO TO BED IMMEDIATELY. LUCKILY, THE SEVERE PAIN WAS GONE AFTER I SLEPT SEVERAL HOURS. A FEW YEARS LATER , I HAND BUILT A CHINESE RESTAURANT WITH THREE BEDROOMS UPSTAIRS. THIS TIME I ORDERED EIGHT TRUCKLOADS OF TRANSIT MIX FOR MY FOOTINGS. NO MORE MIXING BY MY OWN STRENGTH!
Thanks! There's a big difference between Bob and I. I actually worked in the field doing all these things for over 20 years. He was just a TV host for 90% of his working years. Many people don't put two and two together. Remember he started doing TV full time back in the mid 1970's in his mid to late 20's.
Boy, I beg to differ. I'm demonstrating a tool - one that would make mixing mortar easier than doing it by hand. How would you have produced the video showing the tool and not being a *commercial*? I wasn't pitching the product for a second.
than why isn't this titled " concrete tiller', if your demonstrating a tool, as you stated, put in a more accurate title.
people have been guided to this video by searching " mixing concrete" I respect that you replied to my response in a mature fashion, I dont respect that the tools' brand is clearly demonstrated in the vid. i was able to find what i needed in another video, the components of comcrete, different ways to mix, time expectations etc. This is a 2 minute product placement video
It's titled correctly. I show you one method to mix concrete. Your analogy is flawed. Using your logic a person looks at your face - your title - and expects you to be understanding and not have a zero-tolerance policy. But after talking to you for two minutes, they discover you to be demanding, argumentative, not open to new ideas and judgmental. Can you tell us why there are no videos at your channel sharing with the world what knowledge you do possess?
That's gona cost some bucks, sure hope you mix concrete often. Like a chainsaw that gets used every couple years, the fuel line will need upkeep & so on.
Great if you mix often, sure will save your back and arms.
I have no problems telling who I am. I certainly am not going to give my full name on the internet. My name is Ernie. I have all my teeth, I'm not an alchaholic and I take an extreme amount of pride in my work. I started in the building industry for my father at the tender age of ten. I've been a concrete proffesional for 13 years, and for six of those I ran my own company. My father, my sister, and myself have all been contractors. Sorry about the double post earlier.
Not good enough Ernie. You need to go back to your channel, update it, tell us your real name, company name and what city you are in. If you are a professional as you claim, why would you not want to get all of this free advertising? People want to work with pros. Allow YouTube to tell the world who we should buy ready mix from.
Seems the first two replies I posted didn't take. What gives the industry a bad name? Some retiree hack whoring himself out selling useless equipment? Was that really about mixing concrete Or more about selling widgets. How about deluding america into thinking they don't need a proffesional. That the lifetime we spend educating ourselves in the industry is meaningless, because they can watch a show of buy a book at home depot.
All comments are in a queue for me to approve at my discretion. Wow, are you serious? Do you think this video was about telling someone how to mix 10 yards of concrete? It was simply about a tool that might make hand mixing easier. You should consider taking your energy and directing it to building your business in a positive way, not gritching about competition. Oh yes, once again, who in the world are you?
If you get tired mixing one bag of quick crete. You should have called a pro because your a douche. I love getting those phone calls on saturday morning from a home owner who ordered a redi mix truck. Then figure out how out of their depth they are. Sure thing sir I'll be right there but be prepared to bend over.
People like you are what give the industry a bad name. I visited your channel and you do nothing to identify yourself. If you are so brash, why not tell the world who you are and the name of your business so your customers can know in advance you are taking advantage of them. Never forget this: The mills of the gods grind slowly but thoroughly. Your day will come. Your greed and selfishness will contribute to you being ground into a fine powder to be broadcast by the winds.
I am brash. I'm also arrogant. I also back it up with over 20 years in the industry at the tender age of 33. You misunderstand me though. The new home depot do it yourself people fail to realize that people are profesionals for a reason. They also fail to realize the labor involved in most projects. If someone expects me to come save their floor on a moments notice, on a weekend? I expect to be compensated way above and beyond normal pricing. I hope this wasn't to brash for you.
Not at all. Let's have this debate. But you still didn't do step one. Who are you????? Why are you so reluctant to stay in the shadows. No one will put an ounce of weight in your stance if you continue to hide in the shadows. You need to know that I am pretty much on your side with some of your comments. But realize anyone reading your comments might think you are a just another faceless hater.
I am brash. I'm also arrogant. I also back it up with over 20 years in the industry. You misunderstand me though. People fail to realize how hard concrete and masonry are. We are profesionals for a reason. The morning phone call I speak of is usually half way through a pour in 95 degree heat. Get me out of bed on a saturday for that situation and I expect to be extremely well compensated for rescuing the thousands they have invested in their home.
Then keep this exact thought in your mind when you get your concrete truck stuck in the mud. Don't you dare mutter a complaint when you get that tow truck driver out of bed and he has to tow your sorry butt out of a mess charging you hundreds of extra dollars. None of us wants to hear about how much you had to pay to save that expensive truck from being swallowed by the muck.
well it seems to me that he'll just charge the customer for the towing, and the time he had to wait for the truck and probably the cleanup afterwards and maybe some new tires to keep it from getting stuck next time. after all, he did say he expected to be "extremely well compensated" right? ;-)
Better off with a drum mixer, waste of time faffing around with that gimmicy contraption and the cleaning down of the damm thing. looks like a ball ache. supprised at ryobi in developing the THING, they are well known for their tiling tools
Sure you can. This was a fun video showing a unique tool. I often use a shovel instead of the thing in this video. But if you are mixing quite a bit, this tool is nice.
what does pcf stand for?

Great question. You can use any of these methods to mix mortar or concrete.

I would consider a shovel and a wheelbarrow. Or even a large sheet of heavy plastic.
