pruis vs tahoe...4 tahoes = same amount of pollution as 1 pruis in terms of making it.

I have an SUV and use it for an SUV. Its 4 years old with 30k on it cause we use it only a lot in the snow rain or for towing. Sure, I'll tow a trailer with my van and beat the shit out of it no thanks treehugger
There is no easy solution, but like it or not we are going to run out of oil at some point, and we'd better have a plan B when that happens. Hybrids need work, yes, but they're the first step towards a better transportation system.

I drive a 4Runner and get the same gas mileage as the Tahoe. =/ Kinda sucks the big one. I'm looking forward to my brand new Mini Cooper, factory ordered. Then I'm off to sell my 3 current gas guzzlers: Chevy Astro (Bout 18 avg.), 4Runner (15 avg.), and Ford Taurus (16 avg.)

The green house gases emmited by the trucks the grow the corn and the tucks needed to transport the E85. E85 can't be transported through pipelines. Plus, E85 lowers fuel economy from an already low 14 mpg to 10 mpg. It costs $0.20 to run a tahoe per mile than $0.10 cents with gasoline. So there is no energy gain from E85.
The Tahoe can only get twenty MPG if its only on the the highway. Put it into bumper to bumper traffic with the AC on and it will get 14 MPG. Can't keep an argument going? Whats the matter? Out of factual information moron?

Meaning more materials have to be mined and more energy needed to trasport all that useless bulk to build a Tahoe.

Nice try at slamming my history, but I already know about the 14th century, afterall the US declared independance in 1776 and the Revolutionary war was happening. The other thing I was trying to say was while people whine and moan about vehicles there should be progress being made in technology and to make vehicles more fuel-efficient or using other alternatives. Instead people want to ban vehicles, it doesent look to me like it matters if it has 0 pollution and runs on air for some people.

E85 is 85% corn oil. corn grows by taking in modurn carbon. so the tahoe technicly recycles carbon.
the prius uses Straight Fossil Fuel. thus it pumps old carbon into the atmasphere.
not to mention the energy to make 1 prius makes roughfly 2 tahoe.

Lets take into consideration the energy it took to make the E85. The green house gases emmited by the fertilizer. The green house gases emmited by the trucks the grow the corn and the tucks needed to transport the E85. E85 can't be transported through pipelines. Plus, E85 lowers fuel economy from an already low 14 mpg to 10 mpg. It costs $0.20 to run a tahoe per mile than $0.10 cents with gasoline. So there is no energy gain from E85.

dang! they get 14mpg in bumper to bumber traffic with the a/c on. theres no way. Our 2001 expidition only gets 13.1 in everyday driving with the a/c hardly ever being on and no bumper to bumper traffic either and only got 17.9 on interstate to florida.

Did GM tell you that it takes 2x the energy to make a Prius than a Tahoe. Figures, corporate news. The Prius weighs 2932 lbs. The Tahoe weighs 6500 lbs. Thats 2.21 times the mass of a Prius. Meaning more materials have to be mined and more energy needed to trasport all that useless bulk to build a Tahoe.
