  • He was such a lover of classical music, why say he'd hate this? Maybe he wouldn't. Maybe he'd appreciate the gesture. I like it. Even if the rhythm is wrong it's still that wonderful man's words over the music that he adored. Why try to put words in a dead man's mouth? Every interpretation in valid because it comes from a person honestly.

  • @blissfullyinferior Thank you for these wise words ;)

  • dot com

  • Play The Piano Drunk is a new album of songs by John Melcher, settings of Bukowski poems, available from CD Baby, DigStation and Indie-Music.

  • a bach killer.

  • Someone should kick this idiot in the balls..

If Bukowski was listening to this shit live, you would see vine bottle flying towards idiots head..

  • Someone should kick this idiot in the balls...

I think if Buk was alive..you would see vine bottle flying towards idiots head...

  • Hank Chinaski would barf all over this...

  • the music really suits to the lyrics.... wonderful track!

  • Ohh I saw that I reacted on a mister Ekim Joad from 2 years ago. LOL

What are you doing right now mr. Bachbukowski? Still doing the same? Other experiments?

  • What a narrowminded vision of art!

The man is creative and works in a very artistical way to express that! What is wrong with showing that to the public. Like it or dislike it, but why always those narrowminded judgements??? By the way, do you even understand how difficult it is to play Bach and sing so expressively in the same time in a total different stile?

  • crap

  • An interesting experiment especially in the light of Bukowksi's love of classical music.

    I enjoyed this.

  • Thank you!

  • This is so tastelessly and artlessly done it is unbelievable.

  • yeah

  • i agree but i liked barfly.

"about time those fuckers came out of hiding."

    c'mon, that's good stuff.

  • I agree, he hasn't created anything artistically, just stolen stuff two pieces of art and put them together. If the poem was simply recited with a fitting piece of Bach's music in a PROPER way than it would be okay.

  • Why don't you re-write Shakespeare in pig latin

as well.. There is a fine line between artist and asshole, you sir are no artist.

  • I find this cheesy and almost embarrassing to watch. Didn't leave me breathless. This worse than "Barfly". I wonder if Bukowski would find this as bourgeois hacky as I do. Is that what you wanted bachbukowski for this to blow up in your face? Oh yeah, what kind of lameoid hides behind two of the biggest names ever? Way to ride those coat tails. You disgust me.

  • bach is nice. i wish he wasn't trying to butcher bukowski over it, though.

  • Cool tune. I have a bluebird in my heart too. LOL

  • Thank you and.... take care of your precious bluebird!

  • I call it "ill-tempered clavier" by Willem van Bachowski

  • The pairing seems strange but it works. Kinda reminds me of Tom Waits.

  • Thanx!

  • This guy ruined 'bluebird'. He didn't capture the tone or rhythm of the poem.. Much better read.

  • I disagree, it was beautiful to listen to.

This lovely Bach prelude paired with the thoughtful, strained, yet serene, vocal line complements Bukowski's poem beautifully. And any first exposure to Buk, is good exposure.

  • Thank you, nice that people stick out their neck for Bach-Bukowski!

  • Horrible. That was painful to listen to. The poem itself is great, by itself, read not sung. You ruined it man, but just for the time being. If this is anyone's first exposure to Bukowski I feel bad for you. This doesn't do him any justice at all. Just wrong.
