"Title" is more or less a fancy word for text. There are different title presets you can use for different applications of text, such as for subtitles, or overlays. Make sure that the "over black" checkbox isn't selected, that way your video will show through.

If that doesn't help, perhaps you can be more specific in what you're trying to achieve?
