  • ya I don't see how he is tryin to be like bob he's just puttin his music out there if u think he sounds like bob and dosnt have his own style or sound then don't listen to him simple enough right

  • @jfwatson10 dude i am talking about weed what could be more peaceful?

  • i dont like to see people putting him above god. all this man is trying to do is teach about our lord's love

  • I love this jam... Soo true ur music Matisyahu.... praise our lord...amen

  • my step dad has his album and we tru to listen to his cd everytime we are in the car

  • he is the truth!!! and im a sista from the hood of l.a!!! brought his album in 05' and i love his lyrics and delivery...he tryna make us think....hello????, we all dont listen or want too...he just has a clever way of teaching us about faith...whass wrong with that?????...all u naysayers..back off my matisyahu..b4 i get ghetto up in this ***** yeah i said it!!!!..moving on

  • @veryredruby G-D bless you

  • @1matisyahu G-D Bless you @veryredruby

  • cool song

  • @stout202, brother, always remember that imitation is the highest praise. Had Matisyahu, been singing disrespectfully or making fun I could see you being upset, but this brother is simply praising God. There is only 1 God...no matter what "we" call Him/Her/Or It. Praise God!!!!

  • My brother showed me Matisyahu when i was 10, I've been listening his music since. Reggae.

  • @Nathatsyahu my brother showed me matisyahu too! but i already liked reggae

  • My brother showed me Matsiyahu when i was 10, I've been listening his music since. Reggae.

  • And just for the record, Matisyahu does not sound Jamaican at all. He sounds like a JEW singing reggae lol

  • If singing with an accent you dont have is mimicing then practically all singing would be a mimic because no one talks with the same sound that they sing with....Just a thought. Spreading a positive message should not be confined to a certain accent.

  • how bout we all just shut up, load/roll one up, and enjoy the music. fuck haters.

  • @olli873 Seriously? On a page with music about peace and love you post something like that?

  • not everyone .... everything

  • I don't get it when people say that they don't believe in religion........LOVE IS GOD, therefore......LOVE IS MY RELIGION :-) Lets start a love revolution!!!!!!!

  • @jfwatson10 yup you are so right & you know what at one point or another they will believe =}

  • ey just because he's white, jewish, doesnt mean he cant use reggae to express himself, its just a style of music, which he's good at doing by the way! lol so to all you sado's arguing about it, just enjoy the music and if u dont like him dont listen to it, simples!! reggaes world wide, ive seen a thai reggae band and they were awesome, u dont hav to be from a certain place to be good at their style of music

  • ok - but this guy is from New York - why does he have to use a Jamaican accent and vernacular to sing? - nice voice/music, but why imitate and use another culture's spiritual music identity?...

  • @AncientInspirations Thats what he feels in his heart homie. I grew up in Detroit got more of a ghetto tint to my voice and I compose Reggae with electronic influences and use the same vernacular. Am I fake because I don't compose cRap music? It about what you listen to and what your influences are.

  • @RaspyOB174 I didn't use the word "fake" but when you are espousing something that you are not - it is less than authentic I feel. I understand about inspiration, but this is confusing for me. Why not use the inspiration and just be who you are and make it your own? Otherwise you are just another cover singer impersonator...just sayin'

  • @AncientInspirations. First of all, singing from your heart is not imitating. And reggae does not belong to any culture. It may have originated from a specific culture, but it most certainly does not belong to any culture. And if you honestly listened to any of the traditional reggae music you would realize the peace and love that it preaches. And if you understood it on any level you would understand that those who wrote those original reggae songs of old would love to see the love spread

  • @jfwatson10 singing with an accent you don't have is imitating in my opinion and it takes away from the authenticity of the message for me. I grew up with reggae and am very aware of the messages in the songs and they are not all about love and peace ;) ...anyway I don't take issue with that jfwatson I take issue with the mimic.

  • @AncientInspirations Matisyahu is one of the most unique artists I have ever listened to. Mimicking?? Ridiculous. First of all this song is from his first album which was released 7 years ago, his music has grown and evolved since then. Ever listen to anything from his grammy nominated album "Light"? Much different sound. HIs live perfomances these days are absolutely amazing, he is on a 61 city tour right now check him out before you keep hating.

  • @stout202 woah! hate is a strong word and not one I have employed. Not many people sing with an accent they don't have - except people who are imitating someone else. That is my point. I respect the talent and said so in my original post. It is my opinion (which I am entitled to) that his music would be greatly enhanced by using his own style/words/accent/whatever instead of trying to sound like Bob Marley or whoever. Chill. It is just constructive criticism.

  • @AncientInspirations you are correct; everyone has the right to their own opinion. However, we don't have the right to be wrong in our facts. He does use his own style/words/accent/whatever. He recognizes Marley as one of his most important influences. The "accent" you refer to is commonly used in reggae music and is called Jamaican patois. Your criticism would be like saying Eminem tries to sounds black when he raps because hip-hop was originated in African-American cultures.

  • @stout202 EXACTLY! you get it! :) Eminem ALSO sounds in-authentic. It is mimicking ... it is less than authentic for me, and it verges on being inappropriate when it is used to sell something...that is my point . He DOES NOT use his own words or style or accent, he is mimicking Bob Marley, but he is not Bob Marley, so he might as well be a Bob Marley impersonator. That is what is disappointing for me...my opinion...and I am sticking to it :)

  • @AncientInspirations He certainly isnt mimicking Bob Marley; he has a much different lyrical and musical style. I cannot continue this discussion any longer; your ignorance of music in general and inability to form logical arguments prevents any constructive discussion. But please check out recent Matisyahu if you get a chance; particularly his acoustic stuff. You will see it sounds absolutely nothing like Bob Marley if that would be more "appropriate" to you

  • @stout202 wow - you don't like my opinion so I am ignorant? I make a comment about this song and what I feel about it and you all get sanctimonious and tell me I am ignorant and wrong for having my opinion? Music is art and not everyone feels the same way - so what? it doesn't make how I feel about it wrong and you right. We just differ in our opinion. peace.

  • What are you talking about? Music is art, creation, innovation & expression regardless of 'authenticity'. Do you like movies? well it's all acting to convey a message

  • I don't know why the hate, I'm an atheist and I still like his music.

  • I loveeee his songs n im also jewish :D

  • Drugs impurify your mind.

  • which album is this from? i've only heard the live at stubbs version.

  • just about the best song i've heard in a long while.

  • I'm an atheist. I don't care if his songs are about wasting his life for god or kissing his toes, I know good music. This is good music

  • @ImYourDeity then your argument is invalid

  • @2143robert Quoi? please elaborate.

  • deveria de existir una opcion de me encanta

  • Chop'in down all the hate.

  • "O praise the LORD all ye nations."

    Psalm 117 (KJV)

  • This song made my whole dektop dance! 0_O

  • ppl who discount the presence of a higher power are so shoulder-deep up theirselves to realize man is a very flawed creation and we are truly not the supreme being; if we were, why do we rape, steal, judge and admonish our own brethren for the minute differences? shit your heads out, get over yourself, and take a real look up

  • like clouds passing through the sky!!

  • It seems like music is the only thing that can keep people together.

  • i hate u

  • who is anyone to say what the bands music is about besides them, and im sure even they each feel different about it, at the end of the day his words are subjective, just like the words of everysingle person on these forums. you will take away what you want from what they say no matter what their saying. just enjoi the music, and if u like it like it and if you dont.. nobody cares.

  • @tphelpsify well said

  • shalom alehem ahai ha iehoodim

  • Love be among us with music such as this.

Let's not get angry at the hate that people feel they need to express here, pity to them.

It's just a refusal of something good.

Sitting on the net saying negative things doesn't really do anything, whereas men like Matisyahu are out there actively spreading something that is great and true.

    Love it, Live it, Smile.

  • i think hes beautiful

  • Awesooooooooooome song :D

  • Ya'll just have to listen and enjoy the music (=

such a sweet rhythm to argue.

  • exelent song

  • jesus is as live as the weed that ur breathing ... haha guys let ur stupid religion flags in some corner ito ur pathetic lifes... his music is about all the humasn not a fucing stupid religion all the religions are the same shit after all ..

  • Comment removed

  • @wolkerift anyone who listens to matisyahu and doesn't think it's about his religion clearly isn't listnening to the lyrics very closely.

  • @11dorisa Amen. The man is all about his faith and that's hardly a bad thing. Most faiths, even some branches of Islam, have a message of spiritual unity and compassion. The most divisive people in this world aren't faithful folk like Matisyahu, but punks like wolkerrift who want to pry people from the beliefs. Reason and faith are not enemies, but gifts from God and can be used at the same time. It is only those who deny one gift over the other that are the true extremists of the world.

  • @11dorisa inorite????

  • its just good music

    with great meaning

  • jesus is live

  • Matisyahu good artist

  • Matisyahu wouldnt like his songs to turn into debates

  • am yisrael chai! Hashem Echad!

  • im a zionist.

  • Are you debaters here to hear a song or to debate? Oy, human nature is greatest common factor of all personal human strife!

  • He was born in the US, so we don't need to fight about Israel. Furthermore, not everyone from a single country should be blamed for what some of them do or do not do.

  • you go mindctrl69

  • messiah

  • the part that i never understand is that, if someone is a hater of a band or people of a given religion or even race, why and what brings them to this page? So you are a hater, why search this song and waste your time attacking people with ur words...lol i do not get that part!!!! i lOVE the song and the band and that is why i am on this page and that makes sense to me:)

  • Love only, free from death in all forms & all reasoning. SHALOM! PEACE NOW!

  • people!!! why do you argue? in the end it wont matter what you argued about... but how you handled it... maybe if you all are searching for answers you shouldn't be reading or watching false media... personally i just look to my bible... and almost every question i have is answered... just pray and have faith and keep the peace... SHALOM!!!!!! EVERYONE!!!!!!!!

  • well I love you very much... :)

  • i just came

  • @seximammi27 your questions arent answered. your just stopped from asking them

  • @seximammi27 Not a big bible guy, but civility is nice and matisyahu is awesome!

  • @seximammi27 amen my beutiful sister!!!!!!!

  • @seximammi27 please dont take this offensively but what does shalom mean?

  • @clamshire shalom means 'peace'

its from the album Shake of the dust

  • @nightfire12 thanks!

  • they take out the heads of organisations and the money spendors. they dont target civilians on purpose like hamas. israel does not hide its army bases or weapons in schools, hospitals and other public places. y cant hamas target them?

  • zerozh1...where do u live? Syria? what media r u watching? do u support hamas? 24hrs isnt enough? the reason the civilians cant leave is cuz hamas point a gun at their head and tell them not to leave so that they have no choice but to become martyrs on ur tv. i bet ur from the US and at uni and go to all those antizion rallies. u probs hav never been to israel or gaza. tell me another country that warns the civilians. if u knew anything about israeli army, u would no they do tactical killings

  • 1:49 Ufff q bna parte...

  • zerozh1, please pick up a history book. to begin with, your view is very alive and is much the perspective of most media. if u havnt realised, the arabs are winning the media war. believe me, you're not being radical by taking this view. ben99zona is right with why the wall was created and about hamas being elected. did u know israel is the only country that sends pamphlets in hebrew english and arabic 24hrs prior to bombing a site? this is to allow civillians enough time to escape.

  • Brother Matisy ... GOD bless you :)

  • grosoooooooooooooooooooo

  • @carmenaduarte que bueno es el matis!!!

  • I like the music.

  • The Israel of today is NOT the Israel spoke of in the bible. It is a place where the ANTI-christ emerges. You all have it wrong. Its like when you cheat on someone and then the suspicions of the person you had cheated on destroy your relationship. That is what murdering these palestinians will do to the jewish people. You will destroy yourselves after this or maybe even sooner. There are more of them, and being closer to the fires of hell Israel creates for them make them MUCH closer to god

  • maybe not Jordan...but it is definitely a perspective that needs to be digested

  • Maybe if the Israelis let those people have water, lives, and work they wouldn't be suicide bombing. A wall has been constructed around palestine where people dig tunnels just to sneak food in you monster. Aparthied racist neo nazis support this shit, and you are not gods people if you believe you are the chosen "race". We are all gods people, and what your "people" take credit for doing to others will not go unpunished. It won't even be others. Your people will destroy themselves.

  • lol do you know anything of the situation... the wall was built to prevent suicide bombing that were taking place in the mid 90s and early 2000s that are now (since the wall was built) not taking place.... gaza is given basic humanitarian needs and nothing more because it decided to elect (democratically) a terrorist organization to lead it - is it collective punishment - yes, but they voted the hamas in, they knew what that organization stands for and what it would do

  • @zerozh1

and with the words you speak do you think you are much better?

  • Man. Its so awful to see all this dissilusionment. Leave those Atheists alone! They have their opinion and we have ours brother. It pains me to see so much hate on hear. Those of you stirring it up ought to be ashamed. Jah Live Peace ONE LOVE.

  • Well he wears his hair more like the orthodox than the Beastie boys, and that is for sure. He acts like he is a Rabbi when he is a musician just to put on a better act. He says he represents the jewish people, and he refuses to share the stage with a woman. I am ashamed of him. He is also up Israels ass. No they don't have to do islamic style, but it would make more sense than reggae wouldn't it?

  • Divide and Conquer was always the name of the game, and the jewish people can be compared to a tribe of american indians who were once conquered and used by the Gentiles to help wipe out the other very similar indians.

  • Why do the jewish people try to recreate their once stolen culture using Bob Marley music instead of learning from their sister ethnicities still in the middle east? Can't they see that the evil ones want them to destroy their sister middle eastern ethnicities so that they will have no hope of reconstructing their true jewish ancestory? They want ashkenazi jews to destroy their own roots so that they will never have any hope of restoring their cultures own validity as the jewish people.

  • There's nothing wrong with hybridity; stop trying to keep cultural purity.

  • True but what I am saying is that this "hybridity" you speak of MUST include islamic culture as well or else it is divisive and used to make the Pharoah's of today richer through war profiteering

  • @zerozh1 So Whenever a jewish person sings music they have to do it in an Islamic style?

  • Last time i checked it wasnt reggae extremists that were suicide bombing in israel.

  • @zerozh1 lol the jewish people? this is like the only jewish guy i know of who does reggae, im sure theres more but not enough to make sweeping generalizing comments like that.

  • We shouldn't blame Matisyahu for the controversial actions of Isreal, as he is no representation of their government or their actions, that'd be like praising Tupac Shakur for the anti-Apartheid actions of Nelson Mandela just because he has African descent. After all, Matisyahu's from White Plains, NY, not the Middle East.

  • Rastinny, you really have smoked yourself stupid buddy. Read a book. Its burnouts like you who have no clue what they are talking about. Go visit ISRAEL! ZION! and then tell the world your ignorant beliefs. Jews being the most cultural people in the world with backgrounds stemming from all areas of this world andyou call them an aparthied state. See I smoke the ganja too but the difference between me and you is that my brain still works unlike yours. This is music, nothing but music with meaning

  • Not just stereotypically,Jews have a thriving economic advance.

  • if you're implying that Jews enslaved Africans on plantations, you're dead wrong. In fact, The Jews themselves have been the victims of the Institution of slavery, so they're on the same side of the spectrum as Africans. Relax, listen, and feel the love my brother....

  • Idren you are very right that Jews have been enslaved and persecuted for centuries, this is a matter of history, however just as historical is that Jews have enslaved and brutally tortured blacks during slavery. I admit this never happened on the scale Nazi propaganda would like us to believe but nevertheless during the days of the Suriname slave colony Jew slave masters held between 1300 and 9000 slaves at any given year. Unfortunately they also had the reputation to be the most cruel.

  • I know because I have Jewish blood (if there is such thing) in my ancestry but only because a great great grand mother was raped by her Jew Slave master. My mother's and my 2 other aunties father was also a Jew who disowned all his daughters for marrying black men. I am his fist Grandson but he refused to see me because my father was black and he died without seeing any of his grand children. This is extra ironic because his wife my grandmother was Chinese and gave us all her love.

  • that's just silly, if God must have created the world because it shows intelligent design then who created God? Because anything that created the world and everything we see must have been created by something even greater. Madness. I actually don't care that much. The music is ok. I like King with a crown most out of all his songs i've heard so far.

  • I don't see what you are getting at here but consider this. Atheist ultimately believe everything came from nothing. Whereas creationist believe that, that is impossible. Even Einstein acknowledged the existence of a God, albeit a Jeffersonian deity, but still a God.

  • you dear friend, are a moron

for the simple fact that creationists believe everything came from god.

who might as well be a unicorn

and then what is, exactly, your explination for god?

    hm?

religion is for the ignorant, the primitive right wing republicans, and that sums that up for the most part.

  • No, you sir are a moron. "religion is for the ignorant, the primitive right wing republicans". Smart, very smart, seeing that over 4 Billion people actively practice some form of religion.

  • you are a vigina shit ass nigger cunt likkin horrrrrrr

  • @artem. Nobody who condones the theft of the land of Palestine from the indigenous people and it's "restoration" to a bunch of Europeans can be described as "truly religious". We can never make restitution to the Palestinian people for what we have done; no more than Germany can ever make restitution to the Jews of Eastern Europe. This is not "religion".

  • god creates miracles everyday look outside yur door you will see evidence of it must be an intellgent being created it .Isaac Newton once created a model of the planets and showed it to his aethist friend his friend liked it and asked who made it newton answered nobody and newtons atheist friend demanded an anawer for his nonsense so newton said isnt that your theory of the world somebody mustve created the model so you say nobody created this (pointing around him) there mustve been a creator

  • Well I think there is a difference between religion and spirituality. Matisyahu is quite spiritual yet religious at the same time. The fact is that all religions have roots of spirituality but the meaning gets lost in translation and shit gets changed so that it's easier to control people (esp. Christianity). Matisyahu is part of a chillin' sect of Judaism. Talks a lot about general philosophy and spirituality (I am spiritual) and not so much "believe in God or burn". Which I really dig.

  • religion is for people who are afraid to accept the truth.

  • your a dumb ass

  • true..i agree

  • nim81, define religion. What if I were to embrace truth and in doing so I become a "religious" person? Define religion.

  • thats ignorant.

  • Wheres the respect these days?

  • yea..

  • Guys, please dont let that guy get to u.... if u argue with him, thats what he wants, and he's winning... ignore him
