I love the The Social Network and The Kings Speech both phenominal films but the oscar for best picture should go to Inception. And whats the deal with Christopher Nolan getting snubbed for the best director spot??
SyrenniaLestrange, I was also deeply moved by "The King's Speech." It was, without a doubt, the best picture of 2010. It will win many Oscars. My support for Melissa Leo and Christian Bale for "Best Supporting Actress/Actor" in "The Fighter" has to do with the fact that their outstanding performances were in such demanding roles without which the movie would not have been as successful. This in no way is meant to suggest that HBC and Geoffrey Rush were not great. They were!
redsoxfan11495, I realize that you must be from New England, but how can you say that Melissa Leo's role in "The Fighter" was "not difficult." Could Hailee have convincingly played the role? Could Amy have convincingly played the role? Nobody could have. Just ask Mark Wahlberg, David Russell, Amy, Christian, the Critics Choice, the Golden Globes and SAG! I root for the Red Sox in the World Series, but the Yankees will triumph in 2011, as will Melissa Leo.
Helena Bonham Carter just won the BAFTA for "Best Actress in a Supporting Role." Geoffrey Rush won for "Best Actor in a Supporting Role." The Brits love their own (Actually, it must be ackowledged that they were both great). On February 27, 2011, however, the Oscars will go to Melissa Leo and Christian Bale.
@Tennessee3501 Just wanted to make sure and tell you that Christian Bale is a Brit and not an American. I'm not trying to be mean, just meant to clarify that for people that may not know.
I disagree with your prediction on who will win the Oscar for "Best Supporting Actress" Melissa Leo's role in "The Fighter" was far more demanding than the role played Helena Bonham Carter in "The King's Speech." Melissa is very convincing as the mother of Mickey and Dicky (not to mention the seven sisters) and Helena Bonham Carter could never have pulled it off. Melissa, on the other hand could very easily played the wife of King George VI. All she would need is an English accent.
I think the Brits will sweep most of the acting categories. I thought the King's Speech and Inception were very good but... hmm, they didn't quite satisfy me as 'films of the year', very good rather than absolutely superb. But it's just another 12 months in the film industry I suppose.
Jeremy renner should have won for the town. He was awesome in it.

James Franco should've won. He had to carry the whole movie, most of the time.
