Because much of HK's wealth has been and will continue to be tied to the world. A broad world view which includes compassion for other races and cultures will only help HK to stay prosperous. The opposite will be like the frog that lives in the bottom of a well. Its world view as well as its growth is ignominiouly limited.

@ivantide many countries don't like or accept immigrants.only north american countries and some of european countries accept immigrants from developing countries.these countries are colonial powers in the past. they think they have to do something to make up for mistakes they had committed in the past. wherever there are many ethnic groups live together, racial problems will appear. i don't want these problems in hong kong. so just shut the door to southasian immigrants.
@ivantide you can see a lot of racial disputes end up with riots in european countries like france and england. the root of this problem is the native of these countries think the land is being invaded, their jobs are being taken and their women are picked up by foreign men. hong kong 's population are mainly chinese..so the racial problem is unlikely happen here for now. but with more and more southasian come to hong kong .this will be a big problem.
its way different from we are talking about citizen of the minority. Where did you find Japan society does not have supporting groups for those minority? I think you get it wrong.
For me, I won't head down to all from India, Nepal, Pakistan and Indonesia. Why? Because I love them more than HK Chinese.
