I would love to see this get made, but I can see two problems. First, a film like this will need one of the best directors in the buisiness. Biographical films are very hard to make after all. The second problem is that finding an actress to play Kate Bush is going to be really hard.
Well, it's funny, I've been thinking for some time now that a movie about the life of Kate Bush could be interesting. A commenter on one of my videos once said that Kate Bush is the Stanley Kubrick of the music-rock scene, and I'd say they're right, since both were very unique artists who became a significant influence in their respective fields.
I totally agree but kate would not like a film about her! she's so private, your all have to wait until she's gone, I think she would sue the film company haven't you noticed all the books about her are from other writers, without her permission, she rarely does interviews. she doesn't want the world to know her completely that's what gives her so much more class compared to any other artists! and makes her more interesting! know one will ever come close.
what version of Hounds of Love were you playing, i've not heard this one and it is truely wonderful. Back to the Kate Bush Film, I'm all for it but they would have to respect her privacy as this is what she likes, this is what keeps Kate so special as people do not know that much about her just her music. She is timeless, please lets keep her that way. xx
I love Kate and, above all, her work immensely. Words cannot describe. So maybe a movie can? But then again, I think Kate's work speaks for itself! As far as I'm aware her life wasn't full of overcoming drug habits or near death experiences, nothing dramatic that seems to be needed to hold a modern audience's attention. Despite being crazy talented I think Kate is a pretty normal person! I doubt a film cutting between her in a studio, & her doing everyday activities would be *that* interesting.
i dunno... i love kate bush.. since i was a kid.. but you can't force this kind of thing... she seems to be a very private person.. and probably wouldn't appreciate the attention...at least not yet...
you guys got the right idea! but, I think a magical fantasy Kate Bush movie is more of what I think it should be, and not so much a biographical one. (But of course, I would support any sort of Kate Bush movie regardless, so xD nevermind) (And I've only just discovered her music this year! and yet I already find myself wanting to make several animated Kate Bush videos, which are just sitting in my head at the moment, but will eventually bloom into something I imagine.)
Absolutely the most important song writer of our time. No one can compare. I couldn't LIVE without her music. I think a movie is a great idea, depending on how it was done.If it were not accurate, I fear a dis-service may be done. Have you seen Kate Bush Under Review? I watch it almost every week and have for years. She's my all time hero.I'd give anything to talk to her, walk with her PLAY MUSIC with her!
Also, the movie should not be about Kate Bush's personal life but about Kate Bush's magical world, the world within, her artistic world, a "Being John Malkovich" kind of movie
I named my movie 'Never Be Mine" after her song! I thank her for my career! She keeps inspiring me! She is a true life force. I would love to make the film!!!! Let's do it!
Of all the most influential female, writers, composers, singers, song writers, and choreographers. I'd say she is well up there with the likes of.... well no one. Kate Bush is a pioneer of music and dance, in a class all by herself. There i said it.
i stood in the kitchen in Eindhoven Holland with hard nipples and goosebumps when I first heard Kate Bush and W.H. ; I've been married to Kate Bush ever since. xx love it and her :)
it's called "Hounds of Love (Alternative). before all of my vinyl was stolen, i had it on 12". the other tracks were "The Handsome Cabin Boy" and "Jig of Life". also it's on one of the b-side discs of This Woman's Work box set.
definitely! what a great idea. we need a movie about the queen of prog-rock.. but as she is completely otherworldly, we can't have another sloppy bio-pic like the rest of them (ray, sid+nancy, etc.) it has to be something very special. something kate herself would approve of.
Totally need this film made. There was a crap "doco" made recently that was more like a celebrity channel half hour filler. Shocker! So if someone makes this film they better do a good job or else I'll get a guy that looks like Ray Winstone to come over & av a chat wif ya. KATE ROCKS!
I completely agree with the other petition signers. A film is long overdue, in addition to the fact the more people need to know about her... she is arguably one of the greatest composers and performers of our time, and her music feels truly timeless. Just the other day, I introduced "Hounds of Love" to a friend, and he said "Wow, that sounds as fresh as though it was written yesterday!". She is a true Master of Music... and please keep in mind, I say this with a Bachelor's in Music!
Yes! A film is so long overdue. (I hear there's one coming out re: Joy Division, brill!) No one compares to Kate Bush. She's almost otherworldly. I could see people lining up outside theaters, really. I know many hardcore fans, including myself.
When I saw "I'm Not There" about the life and music of Bob Dylan - I thought it's unique structural approach would be a great way to communicate Kate's spirit in a movie format.
I would love to see a movie about Kate Bush! She is such an amazing and original artist. No one can compete with her. When I hear her music, I wish I could rewind the time back to the 70's/80's. Just to live in the time when Kate Bush was most famous. I'm a teenager, born i the 90's, but yet I would love to live in the 80's. For some reason, that time seems like it was a wonderful period. Well to me, at least.
Beautifully done...I love the fades you did with the clouds and also the one from her Cathy photo to the 'adult' Kate. Should this movie ever come to fruition, I would be first in line for a ticket!
They should at the very least do a "Classic Albums" episode on "Hounds Of Love". A lot of artists owe their careers to Kate Bush and some don't even know it. This album was a watershed moment in music. The technology used in making "Hounds Of Love" and the fact that she built her own studio to record it would make a very compelling hour of television. Plus, we'd get to see and hear Kate.
hi, yes. it is the "hounds of love - alternative version". it was a b-side, i think, for the hounds of love single. also available on the "this womans work anthology" cd set.
If you like this track, please do a search for Kate Bush Night Of The Demon...it's a little mini-movie I made combining this alternative version of the song with the movie that Kate says inspired the track.
looking fid on utube, for big sky, everyone starts with an add all done , screw her movie

Another thing: NO ONE can play Kate Bush. If there must be a film it should be a documentary.
